It did start then didn't it? Well anyway, there used to be in the Premier League, a top six or seven teams fighting for the top places. There were then a group of sides making up the mid table and three or four teams fighting to avoid relegation.
As I see it now, we still have six or seven teams fighting it out for the top slots, although some of the teams have changed, but the mid table has now become a fight to avoid relegation.
This season no teams were cut a drift with say six games to play and it went right down to the wire. Crystal palace half way up the table had 45 points , only eleven more than relegated Leicester. I thought that 34 points may have been enough this year rather than the norm which appears to be 40 points. However, Everton sneaked in with 36.
It will be tough next season for the promoted teams Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton, while last years promoted sides might find it a bit harder to compete, as Leeds found out.
We need to get off to a good start, but that will depend on who the opening few weeks opponents are, and summer arrivals.
