Apologies if somewhere else on here but was wondering who we will have from the whole squad at the world cup this June? (Maybe new signings too?)

Yeah I was wondering this might be worth keeping this thread active with updates on Wolves players. Got no interest in how Engerland do but will gladly follow the teams with our players in.

Bonatini. Would be class if he was selected asa squad player. Brazil make the final vs Germany its 0-0 and in the 80th Minute Bonatini comes on as sub finds himself in the position at the right time to score the winning goal in the 87th Minute to win Brazil the world cup.

Saiss should definitely go, he's played most of the qualifiers for Morocco
Neves made the last Portugal squad and played, so he should go (they'd be crazy not to take him!)
N'Diaye has been in and out of the Senegal squad, so might go
I suppose you could argue that Jota is in with an outside chance, but he has to go some way to get ahead of Ronaldo, Andre Silva, Guedes, Quaresma etc.

Saiss is in the world cup picture collectors book you can get from supermarkets, but other than him...no other current wolves players are stated! However it only shows starting 11 (most popular players etc)
Hasn't ronaldo got an injury? I saw it briefly on the news but don't know anything more

Saiss could play against Neves as Morocco and Portugal are in the same group. Saiss plays centre half for Morocco though, and I doubt Neves will start games.

Just been pricing up the Portugal shirt which I like to be honest and looked at Neves on the back. If Neves goes to Russia I think he’s number 13......

Just contemplating if it’s wrong to wear one when I don’t have or intend to have an England shirt

Might get that classic dutch shirt just to confuse people.

I'd rather see wolves win a cup than England but I'm still excited and will support the team. Shame it's in dodgy Russia.

Not a player but don’t forget our very own Jim Bowen will be out there helping carry Putin in his sedan chair and feeding him grapes at half time .

To be honest, I’d rather it was in Russia than somewhere daft like Korea. The kickoff times were bloody stupid for telly viewing.

I’m also against non football nations hosting (such as Qatar etc)

Was thinking about this and if Jota might be able to force his way in to the Portuguese squad, they've experimented a little over the last few games but I'd imagine Fernando Santos will stick with the 442 that won the Euros.

He's shown, particularly as Costa came back into the team, that he can play down the middle and Portugal do lack options after Ronaldo and Silva.

Yes because it's unlikely Neves will play. You'll soon catch the England bug once we've scraped past the first and second round and are in the quarters.

This is the thing. After years of England and big tournaments I’m thoroughly unexcited about them. Don’t think I’ve truly enjoyed watching them in many years. Gutting as I remember enjoying italia90 and euro96 so much. I think everyone used to be buzzing for the big tournaments but this year especially nobody seems to care much.

Hoping that I do catch the England bug again though.

There's normally a lot more hype by this stage, but it will increase. Also like everything, things are much more special when your younger. We've done nothing now in 10 years and we're all natural glory hunters when it comes to Internationals, i'm sure this next crop will change things though, but may be another 6 years off. 2006 was last decent tournament, that's a whole generation, we're lucky in someways.

Hopefully. I think its difficult as there’s no real idea what our best team is in my opinion. But maybe expectancy levels being so low could be a positive

How dare the World Cup be held in a country with an inconvenient time zone for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland? A disgrace! South Korea? Japan!? What have they ever contributed other than smart phone technology, Premier League footballers, thousands of years of cultural history, vibrant musical scenes, incredible food...'

The key is advertising revenues and much of this comes from Europe so they will always try and pander to this Region.

    .

Surely there can't be many non-footballing nations left on Earth.

In Qatar & the UAE most of the younger Arabs i knew (not biblically) were absolutely bonkers about football and would follow both a local team and normally either a Spanish or Italian team... and on special holydays - sneaking a pre-Ramadan Mubarak in here - even a Man City, Arsenal or Chelsea type of English club depending on the player 'mix'... Spurs was surprisingly a bit of a no-go area though.

    Go Wolves!

    .

I'd say TV rights deals are a bigger factor (themselves determined by advertising, of course). And I'm not sure how much longer Europe will retain the 'power' there, if it even does anymore: look how much Premier League advertising is in Chinese script.

There's also a lot of realpolitik/corruption within FIFA that can't necessarily be reduced to the market.
