Anything to do with Murphy being suspended (for one game), Hunt recalled by Bolton and Larsson, McFadden and O’Connor being short-term injured???? Surely not!!

I agree with both 23 and 25 above. B’Ham City = Mickey Mouse. And yes I do believe they could’ve made the pitch playable, had it been in their interests. However, they have players out for various reasons and they feel it would do our promotion push more damage to make our fixture list more congested. They should be fined at this level.

GREAT! A night time replay! What genius decided that? Surely it’s only going to be colder…

If some of the comments ref the availability of players for the Blues are true, then there should be an FA investigation. Their pitch should never be unplayable given the advanced warnings of the weather.

SORRY this is my first thread so if its already been posted or no 1 wants to no im sorry

i just wanted to know what the members on here thought about this

Joking apart, the Wolfmanjack on E /S is not me. Whoever you are, could you change your name please? We wouldn't want to be blamed for something the other had said, would we?
SAmd I've been WMJ for years. Thanks

Blues have history of this...was it a home game v Leeds that was postponed and they were investigated for "failing to make a pitch ready"..first club in Britain ever to be charged with this.

The other thing is.....all their STH's are getting in for free. Not many casual Blues fans would have paid on the gate....so why should Blues spend £-000's on heaters and lose more money?
Perhaps they just decided not to bother...whereas little Preston thought it worthwhile for their moneyspinning sellout v Liverpool last night?
The only people paying money were the Wolves fans...and who cares about them eh.

They are getting a right slating on TalkSport even Jeremy Kyle has taken time off from giving chavy teens a slating to have a dig at the Blose. No one at the club will come on and make a comment.

To be fair though their fans are just as angry with the club as we are about the postponement.

One of their fans on their message board said that they wanted to draw a small crap team at home in the 4th round but he was quickly informed by another blose fan that they cant be drawn against themselves.

    Gold on Talk sport.

"Undersoil heating would cost £500k and this is the first time in 20 years we have lost a game due to a frozen pitch. We as a board choose to use that money on players instead".

"Could have had undersoil heating 8 years ago the directors chose not to spend the money"

"We want to build a big screen for the fans instead"

"if we were man utd or chelsea we could do everything, buy players have all the facilities but we cant have everything in life"

"i wish i had spent the money on undersoil heating 8 years ago"

"its not a requirement to have undersoil heating as a premiership club"

"our priority is to get promotion but this has been embarresing for the club and me and undersoil heating will be looked at in future board meetings"

First time they've lost a game in 20 years due to undersoil heating? I'm sure we had either a New Years Day, or a 3rd round cup tie there in 1996 that was called off due to a frozen pitch. Anybody else remember that??

No probs mate, I knew you meant the same thing, my point was that Gold obviously has a very short or selective memory.

Yes he originally said 10 years but then thought about it and said 20 years. i bet if you go back 20 years you will find quite a few games got called off because of a frozen pitch.

But lets just say for a minute that he was right and they have not lost a game in 20 years because of frost, Questions have to be asked as to why their pitch was frozen on saturday for the first time in 20 years? It was cold but not that cold its been colder a number of times in the last 20 years.

Did they just $$$$ up and didnt think it would be that cold?, did they try and do it on the cheap? or did they never want the game on in the 1st place?

Load of $$$$$$$$, most of the players they bought this summer were freebies (I think they paid for one player, though can't recall who) and they've hardly pushed the boat out this window - £300k+ for Fahey and probably a minimal fee for Shroot. More than likely Gold is lining his back pocket with that £500k.

Neil masters was playing that evening! Hammered the ball against the cross bar, sending the snow flying all over the keeper.

Remember the game being called off. We got as far as the Dog and Gun at Tettenhall before we found out, and stayed there and got lathered all afternoon. Can't remember exact reason it was called off though.

Neil Masters actually started a game for us???????

  15. There are still measures that can be taken to prepare a pitch even if you dont have undersoil heating. I dont think blackpool have it, and they covered their pitch for 3 days prior to our match the other week, knowing it would be below 0 at kick off.

I am glad blues are getting a slatting and I hope they are suitably embarassed.

The under soil heating is a red herring. Lots of clubs without heating managed to get their cup games played. It was down to making an effort during the previous evenings. It looks like Birmingham didn't take enough care to make sure the pitch was protected and therefore treated fans with contempt.
