I read it and thought the same glasgow, up to now our guys have kept their traps shut (unless I've missed it) and let the football do the talking as far as our rivals are concerned. I'm sure Mick has told them that such talk will only fire up the opposition.

Did you also read where Jerome big boots calls his team the Man U and Chelsea of our division.

    Now that was funny.....

    Birmingham

    Small club
    Trophy's = none

I can see how they would be described as the manu and chelsea of our division.
Playing at a packed Small Heath ground would let teams raise there game.

I like how players from blues/sheff u are coming out saying things like this. I'd rather our players just get on with it, do the talking on the pitch and we'll see come May where we are.

Still a sub standard player. He scored a lucky deflected goal. He may think he had a lot of pace but wait till Big Elokobi comes steamrolling him. ;)

In fairness he said they were seen as the big boys becos they had just come from the premiership (i.e a scalp to get).

Only time will tell whether we are not as good as 1st spot suggests, but we have certainly rode our luck of late.

Why have we rode our luck? We've not been injury free....we've not scored lucky goals....and we've not robbed anybody?
For the 2nd time this season we've just won 7 successive games. How is it lucky?

Cameron Jerome is a big time charlie who can't hold down a place in the self-described injury-ravaged best team in the Division who are 6 points behind us in the league and are going to have to let all their season ticket holders in for free to an FA Cup 3rd round tie or they wouldn't get above 10,000.
He's got $$$$ for brains and is feeling the pressure. Let him talk some more :D

Let them keep talking, I quite like being written off. Better than all those "oooh Wolves are a big team and the one's to beat" melodies of recent years.

Lots of disrespect from players and managers of clubs around us this season, and all the papers seem to do is make up stuff about how much money we have.

I can't see why we are not more liked by the media and other fans, granted in the past we may have had the "big time charlie" attitude but now we are a well run club, play exciting football and have a much more humble attitude.

Yet the media would rather big up a plastic club like Reading and Birmingham, who will just see promotion as a chance to fleece every fan that walks through the turnstiles.

Let's see who is the more consistent team Jerome, and at least we don't just have one tactic of the keeper hoofing it up for Bent to head on.

Talk is cheap. Let's just beat QPR on Saturday. We are not miles better than our rivals and we need further strengthening in January but we have a winning mentality under MM and have been more consistent than any other team. Noone can argue with that but the bleating of the Jeromes of this world is only to be expected. With Jarvis back we will be a lot more threatening to them next time we meet.

Ok we are not Arsenal, but our second half performance, which was excellent involved a darn sight more than playing it over the top for a pacy striker, our goals are more likely to come from good wide play, which isn't very modern but fits in with the style of our sucessful teams of the past.

You get snide comments like from Owen Coyle "Wolves have their way of playing" but all they did during a game they couldn't touch us was kick our players down because they were losing.

  22. Maybe because Wolves doesn't do it's business via journalists so the only stuff they tend to get is from Walter Mitty-Munter?

I've read plenty of rave reviews about the club this season as well as praise from other Managers so I would disagree that's it's been all negative. Some retard comments from a player who couldn't hack it in the Premier, a bench warmer and a thug mean very little really. But if that's what is driving on the team then keep it up, they're obviously loving it.

taking CI was the best thing MM did on Saturday, becuase we had no midfield, (who were trying to much and not the simple options) so we went for our usual 'plan B' which was to lump it...

after Iwelumo went off, we didnt have a target to lump it to... and after moving kightly to the left wing we started playing decent stuff with proper wing play

Let them talk themselves up. The league table after 46 games will not lie and we just need to focus on what we need to do.

Personally I like this quote which I think was from the same interview:

"Played them off the park... a little bit... at times..." - he doesn't sound that sure. How do you play someone off the park a little bit?? Yup, they had a strong first half, but if that was Blues playing someone off the park then I can understand why the fans are staying away in droves, and why they need to give tickets away.

I can't wait for the FA Cup game when we'll play them off the park (a little bit... at times... )

I agree there have been games this season - particularly some of the recent ones - where we have "rode our luck" for periods. However there are two ways of looking at this - either we are indeed lucky that other teams didn't score when they had the opportunity OR we are alot more accomplished at taking our chances when we get them.

Consider the Sheffield United game as a recent example - terratorily they battered us and the overriding view on the local radio after the game was that they dominated the game and we certainly are not the best team in this division. However pretty much everytime we broke forward in that game we offered genuine goal threat & there was certainly nothing lucky about the THREE goals we scored.

My personal view is that after 20 games any team that is 6 points clear at the top & 10 points of 3rd place must have something going for them more than luck. Whilst some of the better teams may be capable of matching us (or even bettering us) in terms of overall play & possession the only team that appear anywhere near matching us in terms of goal threat & goal scoring is Reading and at the moment they just aren't doing it consistently enough.

We have had more than enough personal experience over the last few years to know that possession & chances created does not get you out of this division - scoring goals does and teams that can't match us in this department need to bear in mind we are not doing so just because we are lucky.

Was it Gary Player who said..

"it's a funny thing, the more I practice the luckier I get"

Just as things go against sides who are struggling, little things tend to go for sides when they are playing well and winning. The league table doesn't lie.

  30. We've aquired the dirty habit of winning games, lets keep it going. Let january transfers for their "bigger" players unsettle them and old legs weaken their elder statesmen like Carsley, by the end of the season lets see if Jerome is still so confident they are the best team.
If he hasnt left of course

  33. Jody Craddock - broken foot - out since August.

George Elokobi - cruciate - out all season.

Kites and Jarvis - both injured in the same crucial game - Jarvis out ever since.

Murray - crocked 3 games into his comeback - out for the season - AGAIN.

Yeah - bloody lucky aren't we?!

Jerome needs to take a look at the stats of that game, we had more shots and more possession than Birmingham.

Sure first half they won the midfield but at the end they would have been the team more relieved to hear the full time whistle, as the game wore on there was only one team going to win.

I am very pleased with the way things are going (and I would love to be proved wrong), but I still think Blues & Reading will finish above us.

I beleive that we have had more than our fair share of luck but I agree you make your own luck in this game so as long as that continues then great.

Desperately hope I will NOT be proven right!

Reading are ten points behind us after twenty games. No offence but I'm getting a bit fed up of hearing how they're a better team than us.

I don't doubt they're going to push hard, but if the totals needed are going to be high this year, who's in a better position to accomplish them?

Shop around and you can currently get 5 to 1 on wolves not getting promoted, tempted to have £50 on the basis my bad luck on bets will outweigh our promotion prospects

Good point, i put a £100 on The Bennies to win the FA Cup at 3-1 when they were in the semis. It was the only sure way i knew they wouldnt and i was happy as larry. Best £100 i ever spent! And before people say you must have money to throw away, well their progress in the cup that year was becoming a "quality of life" issue for me.

I will not be throwing my toys out the pram if we do not get auto as I did not expect it, but I genuinely expect those two clubs (and watch Sheff Utd) to pip us to auto. The season is barely half way through and its far too early IMO to forecast. Only fools will have us as definite automatic candidates IMO.

That does not mean I am a doom monger either, I am thrilled with the progress - the team ethic of all the players (including Collins) is superb and credit to MM big time. Just that central midfield to strengthen in the Jan window and I might up my expectations!

I'm all too aware that Sunderland only had 24 points at this stage when they went up as champions a season ago. As long as we never get the mindset that the league is all done and dusted (even being 12 points clear with 7 games to go), we should be ok but i always fear a 'Sunderland' racing up the division.
