Real Betis is still struggling to get services, although it is aware that the operation is anything but simple. The club has to reinforce the pivot position in midfield, more if possible after the loss of Fabian, who has left in the entity a large amount of money for transfers. The chosen one is William Carvalho, who is interested in joining an exciting project like Betis, but it will not be easy, although the Andalusian team is still the favorite.

In recent days, there is an English club that has been interested in the footballer. According to the English press, the Wolverhampton Wanderers, recently promoted to the Premier League has been interested in the situation of the Sporting midfielder. This is the team led by Jorge Mendes, who has many of his Portuguese clients there, such as Rubén Neves, Rui Patricio or Jota, coach, Nuno.

As for the project, the green club is the best, which guarantees a solid sports project, but in terms of economic terms, the directive already knows that it can not compete with the English team.

El interés de Mendes complica el fichaje estrella del Betis

When Portuguese/Spanish media say "according to the English press" they're almost exclusively referring to HITC, Birmingham Mail or the E&S Transfer Rumours page. Considering there's nothing about this in any of the leading English newspapers, then it's fair to say I'm most probably right.

Is that the big Jack Price type player for Portugal at the World Cup who didn’t do much? Would rather keep Alf.

It wouldnt surprise me if we were interested in him. He would be a very good signing. Yes he wasnt brilliant at the World Cup but I reckon he would do well here.

Agreed, just conspicuous at times because he's a unit.

I didn't think he was particularly proficient at anything other than being an imposing figure.

Judging from a couple of World Cup games is abit silly, he has been a huge part of sporting and Portugal for a good while and would be a fantastic addition

Saw an article on him on twitter potentially from Alex Goncalves or Jan Hagen can't remember which one highlighting what he actually does and his stats etc.

He seems quite underrated and I'd love him here, would compliment Neves well. I think if we were going to sign him however we would have done so by now as we have with Rui.

Those who don't want him id be genuinely interested in which potentially realistic targets you would prefer as we all agree we need a cm?

I think he’d be perfect for us. Strong, and not nearly as slow as some seem to think on here. He provides a calming presence and alongside Neves they’d boss games. I feel like some of you want a box-to-box midfielder when that’s not the point of a midfielder in a 3-4-3. They play more like holding midfielders. It’s the wingbacks and forwards that make all of the movement in an attacking sense.

He got better as the games went on in WC. He can look lazy as did Yaya Toure, and certainly doesn’t burst forward like YT, but he’s very good at protecting the back 3 or 4, nimble feet for a big unit.

Would be a great foil for Neves and allow our forwards to attack with abandon. If he’s going to Betis, we could surely be as attractive as them.

    Bad tache though.

    Nonetheless yes please.

He never really looked like establishing himself despite plenty of opportunities. He was just a big unit.

Carvalho would get wrecked in the Premier League, he's been on a downward curve for the past couple of years and can be an absolute passenger at times.

He doesn't immediately catch the eye, I admit that, but watching him closely, he virtually never gives the ball away and holds the midfield well - allowing people like Neves to thrive.

I think he is class, could be wrong though of course.

He provides a calming influence because he never does anything to get a sweat on. He is so immobile, he can only really play if you're deep or you've got a lot of legs around him, not sure that his passing is all that effective either its mostly sidewards and backwards 5 yards at a time. Not a fan and his performances for Portugal have cemented my thoughts.

This downward curve people are talking about hasn't stopped him being a regular for Portugal and a good Sporting side. Strange downward curve.

This will sound daft but I watched him fairly closely during the World Cup because I knew a link to us would be inevitable. I wasn't that impressed to be honest.

For a "big unit" does he put in tackles? Did not notice any in WC games. But maybe I was not watching closely enough. His longest (sideways) pass was about 15 yards.

Am on the fence with this guys. Not seenecessarily enough of him really. Cool name and the media always saying that he should have come to play here but I'll go with people who know more. Looked neat and tidy in world cup but wasn't spectacular and I was a bit underwhelmed. ...puts tin hat on :)

I respect your right to disagree, but I think he's a class act and you underestimate his ability and how well he'd suit us. He's not a combative, all action box-to-box midfielder as I said, but his characteristics would suit our formation and style of play very well.

Why would he? Even if his form was poor, you can see his basic attributes. He is slow and rather immobile. Those are not the qualities we want next to Neves, who is also not the quickest in my opinion. To me it's just typical hype, based on who he plays for and reputation rather than substance. Anyway, all this defensive midfielder stuff (or worse DM, which just screams computer game addict) is a bit of nonsense to me. I want a midfielder who can run, gets about the pitch, can pass, tackle and carry the ball. Not someone who occupies 5 square meters all game and gets called disciplined for doing so. Maybe I am old fashioned like that.

Because Saiss is particularly fast? We dont need pace in midfield, thats what the wing backs and forwards are for. Our midfield pair are meant to sit deep and protect the back 3 and provide a platform for the wing backs and forwards to play off of
