They tried hard in S1 tonight but you’d have thought they’d have twigged that no one else was going to join in.

Honestly don’t they get it that without Sky we wouldn’t be watching this team. Without the £1m we get for being televised tonight we’d be watching the likes of LeFondre not Jota.

Made themselves sound like a bunch of idiots. Give it up lads.

    What a ridiculous comment

So every other club would make top signings etc. But we would be left with the ****. Nonsense

Saturday 3pm kick off moved to Monday 8pm is a joke. Newcastle fans getting back at 2am on a week night instead of 8pm on the weekend

Can not understand this thread one bit

Yeah I'm still travelling home and no tubes at this time that means cabs. Thanks sky.

Though actually it's the prem's fault for selling out so badly.

It's a bit of NIMBY-ism. We all want the Sky money but without any of the inconvenience on our own shoulders.

We all know the deal and we’re delighted to be part of it. But droning on about playing night matches when we’ve been trying to get in a league where they’ve been a common feature for over 25 years is a bit rich. And as slagging off your fellow fans for watching it on the telly!!!

Monday night is such a **** time for a game. Is it the weekend still, no, not really. Most people have been to work all day, and have work all day the next day, but suddenly you're rushing home to get changed and get into town or whatever, no chance to have much to drink, this time of year it's freezing cold, sometimes wet/snowy. But it's OK because Carragher and Neville can draw pretty patterns on an iPad for an hour before the game. And who in their right mind thinks Wolves v Newcastle is gonna be a fun game to watch as a neutral. Have you not watched Newcastle this year!?!?

In the minority here, but I like these Monday/ Friday kick offs.

Saturday 15:00 means I leave just before lunch and get back after 19:00 so no time to do anything either side of the kick off.
Mon/ Fri 19:45 frees weekend time with family and means I just need to bunk out of work an hour early.

Since New Year's Day we've had

    Palace (H)- Tuesday night
    Liverpool (H)- Monday night
    Man City (A)- Monday night
    West Ham (H)- Tuesday night
    Shrewsbury (H)- Tuesday night
    Newcastle (H)- Monday night

    Compared to:

    Leicester (H)- Saturday dinnertime
    Shrewsbury (A)- Saturday 3pm
    Everton (A)- Saturday 3pm

3 weekend matches and 6 weeknight matches. OK fair enough the Shrewsbury replay had to be the weeknight, but that's still ridiculous.

Don't see any difference between a Monday night kick off and the Tuesday/ Wednesday night kick offs we used to have in the champ or (dare I say it) if we get into Europe ...

West Ham game was a Tuesday night and had nothing to do with sky, we've been on Monday night football twice this year, hardly worth moaning about is it.

Playing Monday night is no different to playing Tuesday or Wednesday night matches which we’ve played since the dawn of time.

We played more midweek games in the Championship and league 1. Don’t see the problem.

Problem is it takes away fans , and a lot of home fans , hours to get home - and a lot can’t make it due to the change.

Yes it is rediculous and I know it’s difficult for some to get to. I travelled up from Gravesend in Kent where I was working over that last two years and places like Hereford and Milton Keynes before that

I love Saturday 3:00pm kick offs as much as any other fan but we’re a draw for TV. Exciting team playing great football on an upward trajectory. With that comes interest.

We could be muddling along near the bottom and get more 3:00pm kick offs but I know which I prefer. We have to put up with the incovinience it brings in extra revenue and date I say it foreign interest which all helps to grow the club.

It the Championship and more 3:00pms or The Premier League and Fridays, Saturdays, Sunday’s and Mondays oh and if we get there European Thursdays. That’s football these days.

And why did they feel the need to slag off fellow fans who couldn’t travel or couldn’t get a ticket?

The same Sky money that has divided football into the haves and have nots, that has provided an unlevel playing field for over 25 years? The money that Leicester won the Premier League in spite of (we were all left wondering how they had bested the big six), but means that the same is unlikely to happen again? The Sky money that means that the loyal fan is treated as just another revenue stream rather than the reason for the club's/game's existance?

Sure, we get to see Moutinho, Neves, Boly, Paticio, Dendoncker, Jota (etc. etc.) in a Wolves shirt, but we need to sign players of this quality just to try and compete and besides, were it not for Fosun, we'd still be watching Edwards, Saville etc.

There was football before Sky, and it wasn't always the same old procession at the top of the table. Ask Forest fans, Ipswich fans, Villa fans.

Apologies for the rant, but no, we don't ALL want the Sky money. Football sold it's soul in the early 90's.

In general, I agree Andy. However, this weekend it was good to see all the other teams behind us drop points except for Watford (how good would it have been if that had been a draw) and then wait for our match. Pity we only drew but just for once I enjoyed the anticipation of this fixture.

Football as we knew it no longer exists unless you support a lower or non-League team. We all feel nostalgic about the good old days but there were bad old days too.

We can sit and moan about how things have changed or accept it and plan to compete.

I’ve been going to Wolves since 1974 been to Torquay on a Tuesday, Southend on a Friday Exeter on a Sunday, etc. Unless my memory is playing tricks we’ve always had non-Saturday games. Always had incovinience just now we have some evil empire to blame for it.

Didn’t hear Newcastle fans harping on about it last night.

Hypocrites don't want Monday night football because it affects their drinking time but bet they all watch when it's other teams who are on.

Only have to see how many comments the today's matches thread gets.

Maybe its the archaic NO football live at 3pm that needs addressing.

Personally I love night games, but we have had a lot this season it needs to be fair.

I am very annoyed that we've had fixtures rescheduled to Monday night in three of the past six weeks (albeit one was a cup game and not Sky's doing). I would hope we'll be spared this for the foreseeable future. We all know midweek games in the Champ are a necessity because of the additional 8 league fixtures, but having a game that could've easily been played on Sunday afternoon is annoying, and would have given the travelling Geordies a fair drive home. Three or even four games on Sunday was commonplace until recently.

It's the PL that dictate the TV times they sell the packages for, not Sky. Monday night could have ended up the BT slot, or whoever.

Sky were just the successful bidder and the PL only sells the packages the clubs themselves vote to put up for tender.

The way the packages are sold teams end up having to fulfil the minimum quotas in all the TV slots, so it's inevitable at the start of the season as a PL side you will end up playing on a Monday at least once (and 4 times at most).

The BBC choosing the Liverpool cup game for Monday didn't help, mind.

I don't get your logic, because if we don't get Sky's millions then neither would anyone else, so it's all relative isn't it? And if no one is paying billions for the Premier League tv rights then more than likely no one is paying huge money for Spain or Italy tv rights either. All those players would still have been born if Sky hadn't had bid for the football in the 90s, they'd just be available for lower fees and wages.

We sell our soul to the devil, then give him a pat on the back for making it more difficult to win trophies.

Well done to anyone who tried to get the song going.

Personally, if it was one or the other I'd prefer FNF to MNF, at least Friday night is heading in to the weekend, rather than going back to work for a day, then playing our "weekend" game.

    Friday 8pm
    Saturday 12:30pm
    Saturday 5:15pm
    Sunday 12:00pm
    Sunday 2:15pm
    Sunday 4:30pm

Surely that's enough time slots for the 4 or 5 televised games each weekend, and at least it falls within the weekend if you aren't playing Saturday 3pm.

The reality is, they'd love to have football televised every day of the week and if they could I'd be fairly certain they'd have the PL "weekend" spread from Thursday night to Wednesday night with a game a night through the week 2 on a Saturday and 3 on a Sunday all televised. The reason that doesn't happen is only because it can't due to scheduling and other competitions.

I miss actually playing on a Saturday, didn’t get in till 2:30am yesterday. There’s the fun factor this season but if this goes on for 2-3 seasons where we barely have a 3pm Saturday kickoff, I can see it grinding people down.

"Time to go" was being sung as a Newcastle player was taking five minutes to be substituted as far as I could tell.

Fair enough. I did join in the song a little as I thought is was about the substitution, so at least one person was singing about that :)

With regards to leaving early, I can completely understand if you have to travel a distance, but unless you have to, I have no idea why you'd leave early with this Wolves team.

Agreed fully. Going back to London for example the options are trains at 2145 or 2245. I get the later one and don't get home until 0200 but folk who have an early start the next day....

I've sold half my season ticket knowing full well I can't attend half the games. The alternative is picking and choosing games with no guarantee I'd get tickets. Had my season ticket for twenty years, it's what I do on a Saturday (ocassionally) with my mates. I'm not giving my seat up.
