There's about a month until the window opens so our star trio of Mick, Jez & Steve must be looking for new players. Which positions would YOU want us to strengthen?

After last night's 10 minutes of injuries (in Sheffield & Hereford) I'm inclined to say Keeper. Although I'm tempted to agree with Edgmond (chances are the Loan is all we'll be able to do - at best)

I put striker and right wing, just because we don't have quality cover/any cover there at the moment respectively. Almost put RB too, but Stearman could move over with Shackell coming into central defence... would rely on keeping Mancienne, but looks a pretty much dead cert that if we want him Scolari will let him go.

Ticket Office staff doesn't need adding to mate. There's more than enough in there.

Voted left winger as most needed but agree with comment before that best move would be to buy Mancienne

    Wingers, definitely.

Unless someone gets a necromancer out on Lewis Gobern, we're missing cover/competition for Kightly, and we can all see how we're struggling to replace Jarvis. If Dan Jones isn't seen as the answer by McCarthy (and I think it's fairly obvious he isn't), then we need someone in there to cover that side too.

If we get Mancienne for the rest of the season, that'll be a superb result, though Stearman/Collins/Craddock/Shackell should be enough cover there. I am slightly (but only slightly) twitchy about cover at centre-forward, as Vokes still seems too raw to rely on, which means we only have SEB/Iwelumo/Keogh there.

We have plenty of cover at Striker.

Where is the no signings button.

Unless we have loads of long term injuries I would not do anything.
    I would wait till promotion

Recognised striker to back up CI and SEB as neither will get to the end of the season without injury/suspension. No, Vokes is not the answer just yet and at such an important time

Keogh has proved he is good enough back up.
Vokes is a good option to have.

Keogh certainly looked back to his best on Saturday.

Central midfield please, we don't have a genuine replacement for Jones or Henry. Edwards is a good player but totally dissimilar to both, we need Foley at RB and aside from Mark Davies who last featured in the first team in April 2007 and Darren Potter who is well out of the picture, we have no-one else.

Ben Watson would be an excellent and comfortably attainable target.

Left winger, central midfielder, and yes a pacey striker

I would be happy the raid the best of the lower divisions for young tallent. If we do go up we could always loan them out.

Signing Mancienne permanently would be a great signal of intent to the rest of the league. We really do need another wide player as Gobern seems a little similar to Murray in terms of injuries and Keogh or Edwards aren't quite good enough as long-term cover if either Kightly or Jarvis (again) are out injured.

We've only got Keogh and Vokes who are inconsistent and inexperienced respectively. Another first choice striker with Vokes maybe dropping out of the 16 would be good IMO.
As for no signings, only allowed max of 8 options, a no vote is a no signings I'm afraid!

Central midfielder for me - but should we just get a prem player on loan as it is unlikely we could buy anyone that would be good enough for the prem.

Because if we do go up we certainly need to buy 2 quality experienced midfielders to help us survive in the 1st season

Have no idea why so many have voted to strengthen up front? We definitely have the best options in the league, Vokes and Keogh would get in most first teams in the Championship.
However, we definitely need another left winger, especially as Jarvis has proven he could be a bit injury prone. We haven't really got much cover down the right now i think about it, but i didnt vote for that.

Only 6 people have voted for upfront... me being one of them. Just think that an injury to SEB or Iwelumo would force one of Keogh or Vokes to start, and neither are top 2 standard IMO, and leave the bench sparse of attackers. 5 strikers would be great, especially as Vokes is only 18 and can't be expected to do too much at the moment. That said, a 5th striker would decrease his involvement... it is a toughie.

I simply need a pacy right back\winger who can act as cover for Kightly and Foley. Full backs are usually failed midfielders. Foley, for me is about to buck the trend. Tho seen by many as a latter day Denis Irwin, I see a Roy Keane.

I am surprised that so many people want to write off Vokes as cover; he's done admirably when called upon.

Central midfield -- an experienced head there, maybe, to help steer the ship into harbour if things get shaky. Gobern and Jarvis both made appearances last night, which would suggest we're going to have full cover on the wings soon enough.

Mancienne would be my only serious (i.e. expensive and long-term) signing, because (by the look of him) he's going to fit ably into a post-promotion squad.

Keogh was plenty consitant last season once he had someone up front with him.
Everyone knows Keogh as the main striker is not going to work, he is excellent playing up front with a main striker.

    SEB / Keogh
    Iwuelmo / Keogh

Is good to get us promoted.

Vokes / Keogh would be good enough for 1 or 2 games that would have to be due to a lot of bad luck to go into more than 1 or 2 games with Vokes / Keogh.

If we lost Iwuelmo, and SEB for any length of time we could strengthen with a loan.

So no we don't need to sign any one, Unless we find a young player we are signing for the future.

Mancienne (loan till end of season)
    C.Edwards - £1m ish?

Plus a central midfielder. I agree with Deutsch that we need additional cover in this area.

I'd bring in another goalie IF Hennessey goes.

I can't see us getting Edwards if Keane has recalled him, unless he's signing someone better to replace him. I'm hoping now Hennessy has regained his place and will stay.

Good player, and always looked more than comfortable at this level.

But doesn't Watson allegedly have a bad attitude? That's what a Palace fan at work says.

If so, he could endanger our team spirit.

I'd now be looking at gambling and buying players who can perform in the Premier League. I'd still go for the philosophy that we have at the moment ie buying younger players from lower leagues or equivalent, but now we should be upping the anti and spending big money for the final push and, fingers crossed, next year in the Prem. I would look at star performers from other teams in this league and my wish list (akthough highly unlikely) would be Steve Hunt from Reading, Larsson from Birmingham, and Steve Sidwell from Villa.

Haden. To be honest I can't. But those are the sort of players we will need if we want to be a success in the Premier. We would need to start paying £5 million plus for those type of players. Just Hunt on the left would guarantee us promotion. Sidwell and Larsson can wait until August!

I don't think for a minute that any of those players would look at joining us until we've actually got promotion. Especially Sidwell.

They're all good shouts if and when we make it, mind. I would only really back Kightly out of our current midfielders to be a regular in the Prem, the rest would be useful squad players but not much more.

Someone asked earlier about Watson's attitude; I haven't noticed anything wrong with him on the pitch. He doesn't want to sign a new deal at Palace which hasn't gone down well, Warnock was critical of "some of the people around him", I'm guessing his agent.

He was heavily linked with QPR in the summer but that didn't come off and I can't see it happening now, they're a mess of a club. He *is* one who'll be attainable in January as Palace will want to recoup any fee they can before they're subject to the whims of a tribunal in summer 2009.
