Yesterdays' attendance was 27106. The ground capacity according to the web site is 28500. The game was a sell out so where have all the missing seats gone? There were not 1400 empty seats around the ground and anyhow the club count sold tickets not turnstile returns. Any ideas?

There were a fair few empty seats in the away end plus the back few rows were fenced off. I have always wondered if they counted free complimentary tickets in the final figure?

Also dont wheelchair uses and disabled fans get two seats on the front row?

It all adds up in the end.

    Yes they do.

  4. There were 4 rows netted off at the back of the away fans. There are probably 200 - 250 seats in a row along the length of the Steve Bull lower so thats the best part of 1000 empty seats to start off with.

I think our "official capacity" figure should be reduced because of the neting off sections of the ground due to H&S

Then you'd have to do the same with every stadium. With clubs changing the netted off sections dependent on potential levels of trouble, it makes sense just to count the seats.

It all depends if they are sometimes used. What's the point of having seats in the official capacity if they are never used? Have we ever had a gate of 28,500 with the current stands?

We had 28,544 somehow when we knocked Leciester out the Cup in 1995 (aka "the david kelly diving header game")

If you exclude the seasons with the Graham Hughes in action, that's the largest we've had in the "new" molineux, and one of just a handful of times we've reached 28,000

yep, marrs is right - last biggest attendance since the temp stand went down was vs them lot down the road in the FA Cup, Jan 2007 with 28,107

we got 28,516 vs Brighton in Dec 05 - the season after we came down, but if memory serves me right, we still had the temp stand then...

The temp stand was from promotion to the end of Hoddle's golden reign (which gave the record crowd for the "new" stadium of 29,396 for the win v man utd)

excluding that era, the only games reaching 28,000 were:

28544 Leicester FA Cup 5th round (Feb 95)
28369 Nottm Forest League Cup 3rd round (Oct 94)
28298 Stoke City league game (Jan 95)
28164 Leicester FA Cup 4th round (Jan 03)
28107 WBA FA Cup 4th round (Jan 07)
28088 Blues FA Cup 3rd round replay (Jan 96)
28016 WBA league game (Mar 07)

  11. Yeah Sheffield didnt sell out.

There were empty seats in front of me in the South Bank too.

Perhaps people woke up with heavy heads and thought $$$$ it.

  12. I thought the ground's capacity was 28525 lol?

Oh and the Steve Bull Lower has had it's capacity reduced from 3200 to 2700 has it not?

Why didn't you put them up for sale then? They were enough people on here damned near begging for tickets.

I loaned 1 out and would've loaned 2 if one of the Yorkies hadn't had a mate who took the other 1.

So we've only had a capacity gate once? That's $$$$$$!

I think there are sell outs, (when the wolves have sold the tickets they want/allowed to due to H&S/Police) and "capacity sell outs" which don't exist anymore.

  21. Did anyone see Jez's response to a question about the empty wing seats in the programme?

Seems like he'd rather them be empty.

Yesterday showed just how inadequate the infrastructure is even in the Billy Wright to handle a "capacity crowd". The concourses were unbelievably bad yesterday, perhaps even dangerous. I am surprised they are up to modern safety standards in all honesty - you didnt have a choice to not go the toilet, that's where the crowd movement took you!!

The crowds in the SB concourse have always been pretty bad at half time but yesterday was taking the $$$$, I could hardly enjoy my overpriced bottle of beer!

The concourse of the SB on 'full house'match days is overly congested. I have often remarked what would happen in the event of a serious incident that necessitated a rapid emergency exit? Fans are well behaved whilst exiting under normal circumstances but all that goes out of the window in a panic situation. I know the stand conforms to H&S enforcements but I do worry in the event of something going wrong.

Don't know about you, but if had to evacuate the stand asap, I'd head for the pitch. Still, I get your drift.

Confused by the Birmingham game in the mid-90's quoted. As someone mentioned, from day 1 I always thought the exact number of seats was 28,525. So where the extra 19 were sitting I don't know!

And in those days our attendance was based on fans through turnstyles and not tickets sold. so you would have thought a few fans who had tickets might have missed the match.

There is a loop hole which lets you get a ticket for an already sold out game at the wolves. But i couldnt say on here ;)

Nigh on impossible to clamber over the top of SB to the lower level. The guy next to my wife is 77,so what chance would he have?

Sorry, major balls up on my part; I meant SB as in SouthBank, forgetting there's a SteveBull stand and the Southbank isn't even called the Southbank...other than that, I was pretty much spot on!

The stadium was badly designed. You can forgive the steve bull as it's nearly 30 years old, but there is no excuse for the appalling lack of space in the other 3 stands.
