I think clubs who share Cities have a different derby passion (hatred) than clubs from other towns, well except Glasgow. You generally get family members supporting the 2 clubs so it shouldn't be a problem for the most part really.

But I suppose these are football fans anything could happen.

It's not as though the trains would be packed with Wolves-West Brom, Norwich-Ipswich, Newcastle-Sunderland etc

Yeh, Wednesday and United fans all go for BBQ's round each others houses in the Summer! What complete horse $$$$e! By and large it depends where you come from in Sheffield as to who you support.

I don't think there's a need for that is there. I'm not from Sheffield but it's one City like Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham & Manchester where fans intermingle more than single club Cities/Towns.

You quite often see people with Liverpool & Everton tops on in pubs together I would assume Sheffield would be the same, well it is when I watch the snooker.

Don't spout rubbish and I won't call it as so. There will always be families divided by football. There are plenty on here that have family that are Albion fans, nowhere divides 100% one way or another, but Sheffield can be divided into red and blue fairly easily on location grounds, South and West United, North and East Wednesday. Brum the same North Villa, South Blues, like any city there will be exceptions, but by and large it's fairly accurate

And West Bimingham is Sandwell albion.

Im surprised they're allowing them both to travel down the motorway at the same time, its not the worst derby but its hardly the friendliest, they've had trouble in the past. Id imagine they'll be 4 times as many Wednesday fans in the midlands, its the beginning of united being left in the shadow of wed. in the next few years.

Are Wednesday allowed to bring their band into molineux or don't they go anymore?

Are you taking the pee or just out of touch!?!

You are right that in Sheffield you see Sheff UTD and Wednesday tops instead of Man Utd and Chelsea but don't think the like each other, they both have "firms" and I have never seen Blues and Villa inter-mingling or Man City and Man Utd, even the Liverpool derby has changed in recent years!

Wow! You have very obviously never been to a Sheffield derby, or anywhere near Sheffield on derby day!

I'm just saying having Sheff Wed & Utd fans at Sheffield train station won't be as abnormal or ferocious as having Wolverhampton fans at New Street will it?

I go into Sheffield centre when the football is on & there are both sets of fans watching the scores cheering & boo'ing for each team, like what happens in I'm in Birmingham City centre between Villa & Blues. Where as Brighton go 1-0 up & West Brom fans cheer in a Wolverhampton City centre pub & you'd get a different reaction I'm sure compared to that in Birmingham.

    Hard work you lot.

Well we'll all see come Wednesday morning if there were any issues or another planning mistake.

I actually thought Mr Wolf was being unfairly treated until he wrote "Wolverhampton fans"

    Who the hell says that?!

Mr Wolf has definitely been smoking something, but it is Friday so fair enough.

Could be interesting at New Street, service stations, and Sheff train station, so could be quite a bill for the police.

Went to uni in Sheffield. Course they hate each other. A lot of bars in the city centre won't even show the game if one of them is on because it causes trouble.

This type of thread is normally out of season $$$$ chat to while away the long hot summer nights hunched over keyboards whilst getting $$$$ed and flicking between porn sites.

It must be getting close though, somebody has managed to dig out an erroneous article which claims Cardiff v Swansea to be the fiercest local derby in English football to add weight to their argument.

    From that article
    10) West Bromwich Albion v Wolverhampton Wanderers
It's funny how the Midlands shakes out. Both these clubs hate each other more than they do Villa, probably because they're similar-sized clubs with similar histories.

    :O

They played each other in the cup a few years ago. Fighting on the pitch and mass arrests followed.

Haha I had Wolverhampton station in my head I guess, you try coming back on the train having a debate typing on your little phone screen.

I still stand by my original point that same City derbies don't have as much hate as their opposite town counter parts, I mean they spend all week working together, living in the same streets & houses, close family members support one team each etc.

It does make for an interesting thread though.

Can't agree with you. In Bristol you have City areas and Rovers areas, and I've seen families actually have difficulty because they support different sides, as crazy as that sounds
