Vokes already better than Iwelumo?

  1. Of course CI has scored alot of goals this season so far and should be given more games to get back his old form but even in the time Vokes has had on the pitch in recent games he has outperformed Iwelumo. He seems to be far better at the flick ons and seems an instant threat.

he is seriously close to being a starter for me. Of course though I hope CI can get back some form, he needs to

Not ready yet, Vokes is doing fine in the role he has at the moment. Iwelumo seems better at directing his headers to me where as Vokes can win them but not really flick them to anyone in particular. Iwelumo is also more of a threat in the air at set pieces, he changed the game at Doncaster who couldn't handle him. I think its unfair to question his starting place.

CI has shown far more composure in the box IMO.

How can you justify that Vokes is better than Big Chris by substitute appearances?CI has scored 15 goals this season compared to Vokes's 3. Just because CI isnt in the best of form and Vokes has come on and won some headers and put himself about doesnt instantly make him the better player. He is one for the future without a doubt but CI should start everytime. Its worrying me that people are beocming anxious because CI hasnt scored for 5 games. All strikers go through phases. They cant play at their 100% all the time. They're human after all!

At the moment the 2 forwards are the 2 to play, Vokes is doing well when coming on, and at present has rightly relegated Keopgh to 4th choice.

However CI and SEB, need to continue, Both Vokes and Keogh will have to kep plugging away when they come on.

Vokes has been really impressive whenever he's come on. I think he deserves a start against Blose in the cup for definate and take it from there. He is very strong in the air as well.

Iwelumo has been poor of late but i'm in two minds as to whether i'd drop him just yet...

Vokes deserves a start in the cup but Big Chris will keep his place for the league games seeing as he's got about 15 goals in 19 starts this season.

Vokes seems to do more in the air than CI at the moment and s obviously better with his feet. If Iwelumo has 1 more shocker like he had yesterday then surely Vokes has to start. Certainly going to be class in a couple of years time! Vokes won more headers in 20 mins yesterdat than CI has done in the last couple of games - and Vokes' find another teammate not just go forward to nobody.

This is down to Vokes still being an unknown quantity in this division, Iwelumo has scored 15 goals and it's only New Year - he's going to be double marked, especially when he's our only aerial threat up front. That doesn't make Vokes better than him, but I do agree that he will be class in a couple of years time.

Too early to say that I think, but he does look good. He wins so many headers and his smaller frame seems to protect him from the prro decisions that Iwelumo seems to get. I have to say that my bigger worry is that as soon as Big Chris is in the side we seem to go one dimensional and lamp it up to him at every opportunity. This seasons early success was down to breaking quickly passing it wide, taking men on and getting crosses in....that seems to have gone missing of late and we look very route 1, we can still do it look at last nights second goal for example!

I hope MM gives Vokes a start against Blues in the cup. I suspect he will, explaining it as giving CI 'a rest'. If Vokes is a raging success and scores one or two, MM will have no choice but to play him in the league, on his own argument of 'winning he shirt'. I doubt Vokes will get in the team any other way than CI being 'rested' in unimportant cup games or through CI being injured/suspended. For me, Vokes has yet to show us all that he can do, but I think he could be a sensation. He is excellent in the air and has good movement and quick feet, as his backheel which almost brought us the winner last night showed. Knowing MM, he will stick with CI through thick and thin, but for me it should be Vokes and SEB up front, with CI on the bench as an 'impact' sub.

The change in style is more to do with the opposition than us. We arent being allowed room to play anymore because we are at the top. We arent being given room in midfield and teams are not attacking us as much. They are all doing their homework because we are top and see taking a point off us as a good result.
It will open up again towards the end of the season but for now we need to get used to the fact that most games will be scrappy. Hopefully with two wingers and two strikers on the pitch at all times we will overcome this and keep on picking up wins from such scrappy games.

'One dimenisonal' -- I completely agree. And if the one dimension doesn't work we can be in trouble. The way we've been playing with CI recently reminds me of the last couple of seasons of Bully, who by then had lost some of his pace and sharpness, but we still insisted on belting high balls up to him.

So what do we do until then? I'm afraid we cant resort to route 1 and have no other plan, we need to be better than that. If we are playing with two wingers then they need to be used or it is pointless them being on the pitch!

Vokes's time will come but not quite yet. Vokes ahead of Keogh from the bench however. Iwelumo has had a marvellous season up to a month ago. He is getting a rough ride with refs and is a shade off form but still a real threat and a class act at Championship level. We should have faith in him but not spend a large amount of a match lumping balls up to him which has become a worrying and unintelligent habit. He and SEB need better service than of late. If Kightly and Jarvis (at last) get to play a match together he will thrive from their crosses and cause havoc (and mayhem).

If we play with two wingers and one or two decent strikers we wont hoof it all the time. We will try and play like we always do but if there is less space then we probably wont create as much or score as many goals. The key is however that we keep putting out a good attacking side and the wins will come because we have better players than most teams in this league.

The cup game is an ideal time to give both AK and SV a start up front, from what i have seen our two main strikers could do with a rest and possibly a bit of reflection on the way they have been playing just recently, i took a friend to the Sheff U game who has no bias either way had he commmented on the fact that SEB looked in his words 'lazy' and did not contribute to the team.

Strikers are generally only as good as the service they get however, in this division in think you need a bit more from the front two, the overall team play has to be there and SEB and CI have fallen short in recent weeks i think.

That aside how can you really complain about them both when you look at their goal returns ?? A rest on Saturday wont do either any harm.

SEB has played 25 of our 26 league games this season, I think he's only missed one match since he's come to Wolves come to think of it. Needs a rest.

Rest most of them - dont want injuries and dont care if we go out of the cup - I never want Wolves to lose, dont get me wrong, but give Keogh etc a run, and some young lads. Promotion is far more important

Think Vokes more than deserves a start now, He is a handful. I also don't think we see the best of SEB when he plays up top with CI.
