Not to take away from a fantastic performance and result by ourselves...

Them big lot down the road are in the bottom three now. Should we not escape this season then next year could be quite interesting.

Really think they will go down if they stick with Lambert, he's just so defensive. With all their financial problems too, and without relegation wage cutting clauses in a lot of their players contracts, I can see a huge rebuilding process going on there if they do go down.

They're in huge trouble. Such a shame Albion got that draw at Burnley. Their run-in is very tough though.

They will be a shambles if they go down. They will lose players and have players on big money.

Think Albion will be safe, got a much better manager than Villa.

Well I'm struggling to think of 3 teams worse than Villa so I'm not so sure.

    Worse than Norwich's run in.

I'd say Leicester are gone so it's 2 places between them, Villa, Hull, Burnley and QPR.

QPR will stay up IMO, pretty decent at home. So it's between Villa, Hull and Burnley. Burnley as many have said have some real tough fixtures coming up, but do work extremely hard so who knows what will happen! Odds are it will be between Villa and Hull for the 3rd relegation spot, making tonight's result even more significant.

The absolutely crazy thing is I genuinely do not believe they will. Even if they do get relegated, I can still see them sticking with him. There is a wider issue at Aston Villa, Martin O'Neill didn't leave lightly.

No, I'm sure he will go very soon. Just hope Harry doesn't go there (bad knees or not) and does the same job that Pulis will do at Albion.

Very funny at the moment though. Just really $$$$ed off they scored against Chelsea.

But yes, this is not taking away from our magnificent score tonight. Well done lads and all those who travelled.

I can't see lambert lasting much longer. Especially with learner wanting to sell. He won't in the championship. Well not for as much money if they remain in the prem

They loved it more than winning a trophy when they sent Newcastle down on the last day. Karma is coming boys

They'll assume they will just bounce back - just like so many before them didn't.

Lerner’s trying to do it on the cheap and over two years the quality in their squad has plummeted. He wants to sell and in the meantime is investing very little and this year I think they’ll pay the price. If they go down they’ll be stuck with lots of players on high wages as few of them will be wanted by PL teams. The future looks grim for them - shame!

Personally I think Paul Lambert is a miracle worker for keeping such a poor, obviously "Championship" squad in the Premiership for two seasons on an absolute shoe string budget.

Randy Lerner is to blame, in my opinion. He just lost interest, stopped spending money on the team, sold the best players (Barry, Young, Milner, Downing, etc) of the great team Martin O'Neill put together and then made two rubbish managerial appointments (Houllier and McLeish).

    I did think this...

I heard on WM early on in the season that when Lambert got the contract renewed, it was that he keep them up, 17th or above, and that was his only target.
Learner's the problem. He's just watched them slide and slide and done nothing about it.
It does $$$$ me off how they all think theyre too big a club to go down. Theyre the worst club in that league by a country mile at the moment. Not by what they have, but how poor they are

Albion, QPR and Burnley at home are all games they've got to be looking for 3 points from, could see a few possible draws and maybe another home win too.

Have to win those 3 though to stand a chance.

They have 4 of the last 6 at home & have some decent home fixtures as Sedge mentioned above to play. They should have enough to stay up as proved by them not scoring for 9 games & only now being in the bottom 3.

If there is a God , Villa and Albion will be relegated, and we will win the play off final at Wembley on a sudden death penalty taken by Dave Edwards

I know they've tended to give a lot of younger players a try over the last few seasons and reduced the wage bill but Joe Cole and Philippe Senderos must be on a fair whack. It's about time they got relegated.

I dont agree. They took 10 points from the first 4 games and then only 12 points and only 8 goals from the last 21 league games. Every other team down there including Leicester looks like they are up for a relegation scrap but not Villa.

There are a lot of parallels with our relegation season under McCarthy in that Wolves took 7 points from the first 3 games and those points gave us a false position for ages by keeping us clear of the bottom 3 when we were shambolic at times.

On 12 Feb 2012 we had 21 points from 25 games and slipped into the bottom 3. We had scored 28 goals.
    http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/2011-2012/table/2012-02-12

On 10 Feb 2015 Villa have 22 points from 25 games and have slipped into the bottom 3. They have only scored 12 goals. I cant see them surviving unless they get rid of Lambert and even then they face a massive battle.

This is shocking for a club like Villa, 10 games without a win and have scored the least amount of goals in the top 4 divisions (i think)
Lambert hasn't had much to work with, Lerner wants to get out and Villa are in big big trouble, this is the worst Villa squad i've seen in my life time.

It's getting very tight at the foot of the PL with only 5 points between 3rd bottom and 12th place. As such a team can move up several place with just one win so bit early to right anyone off other than maybe Leicester.

Villa though are in a truly awful run of form and it's amazing that Lambert is still in post. Carry on a few more games and they could be starting to get cut adrift so things really must change for them soon.
