Sunderland v Derby is on Sky tonight. Anyone know why Forest v Millwall also kicks of this evening?
It was probably moved by the police. Cardiff are at Burton tomorrow.
I was wondering the same. Very intriguing Sunderland v Derby matchup...and at the other end of the spectrum, Forest v Millwall
Welcome back, Championship football!
Can't wait to watch some proper football. Will be interesting to see both these sides in action.
Better be at Molineux tomorrow then.
I will be!
Good man; me too along with the old man.
Thank **** its back!
May be totally wrong here but I don't think Sunderland or Derby will be any great shakes this season and not sure tonights game will be that great either?
Think it is because something is on at Trent Bridge tomorrow.
Nottingham Outlaws v Durham Jets T20 Blast which starts at 2.30.
Sunderland I'd expect to be crap but Derby might be pretty good? They've got Huddlestone and Martin back.
Forest to win the league with 138 points.
Sunderland's team, on paper, still looks very strong for a Championship team. They got battered by Celtic last weekend but pre-season friendlies are hard to read into. I can't see them going down again as some people predict. Can see them finishing mid table or pushing for a place in the play offs.
Apparently likes of Kone, Khazri and Lens couldn't give two ****s about playing in the Championship. On paper though as you say even without them they look decent:
Browning O'Shea Djilobodji Galloway
Cattermole Gibson Rodwell
McGeady Grabban Watmore
Derby's strongest XI would probably be:
Wisdom Davies Keogh Olsson
Russell Butterfield Weimann
Both decent sides, but think they'll be looking at play-offs rather than automatics.
Weimann starts for Derby. Just me who think he would probably suit our current system better than he did the system we played under Lambert? Not that I'm advocating that we should have signed him permanently, just think his style of play probably fits in the wide role in the 3-4-3, more so than whatever the heck Lambert was trying to play. Thoughts?
Tonights Sunderland team looks more like relegation than anything else to me
Would suit it yes. Where is Jota meant to play if not up front? And if Costa RW and Caveleiro LW?
He would fit our system better than previously.
But still not good enough
Agree. He's forever part of our lore, however. Probably best that he didn't stick around though. Left right in the honeymoon phase.
This is going to be a crap game isn't it?
Isn't it always?
Derby have a poor record away to Sunderland. I was going to bet on them winning but after looking at the stats decided against it.
Grayson has finally shaved his dome at least
Not going to miss Derby in those shirts
So happy today. So excited for tomorrow.
Loads of Sunderland fans dressed as seats.
Loads of Derby in the Sunderland end aswell
Lewis Grabban's beard .
Sorry my mistake they are Stewards!!
Sunderland's kit looks like Southampton with the red backs. Doesn't look right.
Sunderland don't know that you're not supposed to try to score until after halftime.
1-0 Derby, completely against the run of play. Abysmal defending from the full back initially, then no Sunderland defenders reacted to the loose ball.
I really think Sunderland are going to struggle this year. Play well but lose.
Forced to listen to TalkSport, who were creaming their pants for the first ten minutes - purring lyrical over the great renaissance happening at the Stadium of Light.
Bang! Derby score, the home fans begin grumbling, TalkSport back off from their love-in with the ex Premiership club.
Come on, Derby - smash them by a cricket score.
They look out of sorts, but so did Newcastle in their first match last year.
That said, being booed by your own fans 10 minutes into the season is a bit of a drag.
Just seen Millwall have had 7 shots to Forest's.....0
