Few mates of mine go home and away and the result is usually secondary to their day out. Yesterday their tickets didn't arrive and they were completely despondent, even joked about sacking it in. All is not well and listening to Bruce's post match interview he is on his way out. Shame.
Was looking our thread on the Villa forum earlier to see what they were thinking of us and had a quick look on the main part. One person on there said Terry trains 3 days a week down at Chelsea as he's still living down there. Shambles if that's true.
A mate of mine is a massive Villa fan and said the only good thing Bruce has done is unite the fans, as they all now think he should be sacked!
That is an absolute shambles of the highest order if true, sounds a bit like a Chinese whisper though
I don't really mind them and would not mind them finishing runners up to us every year. It's their city neighbours I can't stand.
Bruce is clearly worried as well asking for patience and time. Villa fan told me they set up for a 0-0 draw last night, set up so defensively couldn't get the ball off Reading and when they did just hoofed it forward aimlessly. They miss Kodja big time.
And to think there were many posters on here who were gagging for the old dinosaur to come to Molineux! A team managed by red-nose Brucie with Captain Geriatric at the heart of his defence! That's the old, failed way we used to go at the Mol.
He's still a better manager than Lambert and Zenga - lets put that in to perspective but he's no Nuno!
Yes, no doubt there will be emergency meetings taking place in bridge clubs right across the Malverns this very morning..... Expect to see a few strongly worded, crocheted banners at the next home game. Dark days for the Claret and Blue.
I couldn't understand how everyone was making them among the favourites for the league based on the signings they made. All they have done is supplement a failed squad from last season with a few seasoned pros. Effectively it's exactly what we would have done if Lambert had stayed. This could so easily be us had Fosun not acted so decisively.
They have a good team but a poor manager. If they get rid of Bruce they will soon start climbing the table. I think they need to act quick
When Prince William was stationed at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, he ignored Shrewsbury FC, and Wolves, made a b-line for supporting Villa. I wonder if he'll still support them if they become a permanent fixture of the lower leagues? Or will he become a glory hunter, and change his support to Wolves?
I was looking through their team last night and they don't look great considering the money they've spent, especially in midfield and attack. Plus Bruce look finished to me when he scrapped Hull up through the play-offs 2 seasons ago when they should have been top 2 easily, he looks drained and I've seen nothing at Villa to suggest he's up to it.
I heard Leroy Rosenior talking about Terry this week on a podcast. Said he does go to Chelsea's training ground 3 days a week and uses Chelsea's ice bath after every game, wherever Villa are playing, and is often seen with the Chelsea players at the their training ground. I can understand that it may be handy for him as he still lives close by, but that's not the type of commitment you want from your captain. I don't think he can let Chelsea or the Premier League go. Someone needs to tell him he's playing in a relegation battle in the Championship.
The problem with some of the older managers like Bruce they get stuck with the clique players and don't want to change it. Terry of true training in London 2 days a week what hope do they have . A manager that would do a fantastic job at Villa and has an amazing knowledge of the game Dean Saunders . Ex player knows the setup well and really organised
Surely Terry needs to be training with his teammates and building some understanding? Can't believe they're allowing him to spend majority of his time in London
Another important consideration - their wage bill. Once those parachute payments run out, they are in even more trouble.
Got to agree, hes had best part of a year and they're going nowhere. Not saying they should sack him but he's sounding desperate.
If they don't get a few decent results soon Terry could become a massive liability. If they don't get the results Bruce will be booted anyway.
Morgan should have appointed Bruce, he might have stopped us getting relegated from Prem, he might have got us re-promoted once relegated, I doubt very much he'd have got us relegated to League 1. But the World has moved on drastically since then, he's no longer up to it. And, if he had been appointed, we probably wouldn't have ended up with Fosun and us being reinvented with Nuno. But what about Villa? If they don't get promoted, they have to cull their quality as their parachutes run out, with their debts to their Chinese owner, is there anyway back for them?
"Given time I will turn this club around and we will get to where we want to get to," said Bruce. "I've done it at every club I've been at, in the Championship especially. "I'm under no illusion, I'm the right person to try and do it. "Now whether I'll be given the time you better ask other people that." Bye Bye Brucey
Hogan went off injured last night as well. He had two right-backs on the bench, what's that about? I don't blame them going mad, he's had six months to prepare for this and all the January signings were in preparation for this year. Yet, he still doesn't know his best team and has a huge squad with no balance. It's pretty poor. If he was sacked, which they all seem to want, the press would be going mad, but the reality is he has had a reasonable length of time in that job and hasn't done anything. Still wouldn't rule them out of the picture yet. Think he'll go to 3 at the back, which will tighten them up massively and when Kodjia comes back in they will start nicking wins, he's probably the best forward in the league. But, as a promotion rival, which I hope we are, having an 8 point start on them given our fixtures and three games in is a great headstart for us.
I am sure Xia will be casting his eyes a few miles up the road .He has seen his Manager sign a multitude of players including 3 of whom this summer who are well into their thirties and he won't see a sign that they have turned the corner after last season's struggles . We had similar struggles last season but having recruited a highly respected foreign coach and having overseen a carefully selected recruitment policy we have got off to a far better start than them . As we all know the Chinese are proud people who don't do loss of face and I am sure despite his spending he will see they are lagging behind. I am not saying Bruce won't turn Villa round but I am sure they are looking our way and wondering why us and not them ?
