The New Wolves , young , hungry & powerful

I really feel this tactic is going to hold us in good stead in the years to come , these young lads plus a few coming through in the 21s/ 28s augur well for the future , roll on the good times .

In modern football it is an asset to be big and strong, you only need to look at the likes of Ronaldo, Drogba and Yaya Toure to see that. But equally they're all also very skillful players, and for each of those you have a Messi, a Xavi, a David Silva... thankfully we have a certain Jack Price also! Getting a balance is important but I'm more than happy to see a side of 6foot+ athletic lads if they can also play a bit.

Things are still definitely moving in the right direction, let's hope we can have plenty more 'worried if we go up too soon threads' and no more 'KJ has found his level types'.

It is great to see the academy starting to bear fruit. This could be a huge asset to us in the coming years.
A number of exciting players both in u18's and u21's. Some good ones in u16's as well.

I'm in agreement with the 'young, hungry, powerful but with quality' camp.

Young, hungry and powerful will mean a lot of huffing and puffing at a higher level.

Thanks for posting that OldWolvesfart. Quite amazing how few of the 18 are even still here. So encouraging that most of the misfits and losers are either gone, going or on loan. I think the only one who has improved his career since going is Henry and that's probably only temporary.

I think you're right Arctic, it's a strategy that's worked for us before too.

I put a thread up last week asking for help putting together a full picture of how many of our players have played for England at some level - I didn't get any support on that one but I reckon it'll be a fair few and that bodes well for the future too...

    Agreed.

The players' and club's development will be enhanced even further though with a sprinkling of REAL quality purchases - just two or three is all that's needed to really get us really motoring.

How the $$$$ did that side get relegated. Surely on its day it could have competed with anyone in the division?

I hope Eusebio does. Mainly because I want to buy a shirt for my little one with that on the back.

    It's not just this.

Young players will be motivated and more 'pliable'....you are more likely to get what you want from them than the tired old cynical pros who are set in their ways and too comfortable to care for change.

Getting it to be 'vibrant' is all about about honest, confident motivated players.

We are building with this again after removing the stagnant wasters.

Looks good! I hope O'Hanlon becomes an important part of our team. Have heard nothing but promising stuff about him.Don't forget the couple of prodigy strikers we brought into our youth teams!

Problem is he is starting to think his good, but he is a good lad and really works hard. Physically he is good enough it's just he needs to mature and decisions need to improve.

Wasn't that Bradley Reid - I think he has been playing for the U21s but has just gone out on loan to Telford I think?

was talking to my boro mate on friday night. he was saying boro have been doing this for the past few season as gibson is trying to build a team around youngsters through their academy with the help of a few loan signings.

i do think this is a the way many clubs are thinking at the moment due to high transfer fees and also the chance to be self sufficient by selling players on for a good profit and reinvesting the money.

That will probably go out of the window when they get promoted and bring in a load of players you've never heard of from Europe and Central America and a journeyman or two a la Cambiasso. I hope they prove me wrong.
