Whilst there's been loads of discussion on the players that could be coming in, we should also recognise that there'll be a quite a few on their way. The youth levels seem to be getting ready for a big overhaul, we have had 24 players out on loan this season and have some players we've had in on loan that may not become permanent.

Some senior players on loan I expect to be moving on include Zyro, Marshall, Galdon, Oniangue, and Ebanks-Landell and Mason (eventually). We have 4 goalkeepers and seem to be in the market for another, surely there's not enough room for them all. We have 6 first team players in on loan and only Jota has been announced so far, and have a number of fringe first team players who will slide down the pecking order if we sign a quarter of the players we've been linked with, and that's not including those who are on loan trying to bridge the gap between youth and first team football.

Thought we should have a thread to track what's going to happen to, in my estimation, c32 players in the mix in some way or another.

Will be interesting to see where Jordan Graham ends up for someone who obviously has talent to have only played around 30 senior games at the age of 23 is a concern.. I wonder who will take the risk?!

Could easily see him going to a Championship club for his next stop, maybe Blues. If he doesn't start to put the graft in though he'll be League One by the age of 25.

We'll be seeing the back of a lot of players this summer, many of whom a lot of us probably had high hopes for at one point. No sentiment!!

Think there will be many who will either be out on loan or going. which are which I think will depend on where they are in their careers, some of the young ones who the club think can improve and increase in value may well go out on loan, if they improve enough they may come into contention for us, if not they've been in the shop window and value will increase if and when we come to sell them, for some of the older ones, its going to depend on who comes in for some, once they get a certain way down the pecking order and not make the 25 man squad then they will be moved on

Guess the other consideration is having 8 players who qualify as home grown in the 25 man squad currently they are Ruddy, Ikeme, Doherty, MGW, Coady, Bennett, Batth, Hause, Enobakhare, Norris, and Burgoyne.

true, I guess that may also apply to incoming as well as outgoing players (or at least the end result of both has to balance)

Jordan Graham could turn out to be a very good bargain for some club. Another forgotten man not mentioned yet is Dominic Iorfa - remember him?

Also have to remember that Gibbs White and Enobakhare don't count towards any squad rules as they are under 21. Neither will Neves.

I'd have thought we would see maybe at least 2 players incoming for this reason. Probably why Wilshere could be a goer.

Neves is 21 so will be counted as a foreign player

Doherty isn't considered to be home grown, mate, as he misses out by a few months (well-documented this last season). I'm really not sure that we'll keep many of those in bold and if Ikeme stays (which is right and proper) I doubt that he'll be named in the squad. We seem to be after a (foreign) keeper so I expect one of Burgoyne and Norris will be sent on loan. We'll definitely have to sign a few home growns so interesting times ahead...roll on Thursday.

@ShropshireLad .. Doherty does count as home grown this was confirmed previously by the EFL was documented by the discussion on MM .. Express and Star confirmed it also when
We played and the squad had only the bare number of home grown players including the Doc

That's bizarre. What if you had a highly talented 20 year old academy graduate regularly in your starting XI (e.g. Keane, Lescott etc)? He wouldn't count as homegrown?

Doherty is because it's the end of the third season in which they hit 21:
    He was born January 1992.
We signed him in the summer of 2010 when he was 18.
End of first season he was 19, then 20, then end of third season 21.

If they had trained at the club or in the UK for the required number of years and were named in the squad, then they would. You are not required to name under 21s in the squad though, so if you already have the required number then it is a way to get more than 25 players in a squad (or to name less if you have a foreign player who is u21).

I think that is how it works, based on my extensive football manager career.

They wouldn't have to be named in the squad at all. The homegrown rule isn't a requirement as such (unlike in the EFL), you can have 17 foreign players and no homegrown if you like, but if you want to name a senior squad of 25, 8 have to be homegrown. Under 21s don't have to be named in the 25 so you can use as many as those as you like, no matter the nationality.

So our homegrown that I can think of would be Ruddy, Norris, Bennett, Doherty, Coady, Hause and Batth, meaning we could name a PL squad of 24 and have the likes of MGW, Bright, Ronan etc on top

I'm surprised by that given the ITK comments on here. However, it's not summat I'll argue the toss about.

I actually think he would suit Cardiff City perfectly and I suspect, like Mendez-Laing, he would make sure any so-called attitude issues are long gone. I wouldn’t mind loaning him out to them for that sole reason.

I would sell these proven experienced Championship / League One players who would command a decent fee
Baath, Marshall, Iorfa, Graham, Mason, Zyro, Miranda
    £5-7m in total ?

I would sell these young(ish) but still a bit raw - they need a new challenge.
    EEL, Nazon, Deslandes
    £1m in total?

Time to move on without a fee / cancel contracts
    Gladon, Prince

I would loan out ( decent fees)
Bright, MGW ( unless first team calls) , Concalves, Buur, Conor Ronan, Mir, Harry

There will certainly be numerous departures as has already been mentioned on this thread and I don’t think any of them will be a great loss. The likes of Ebanks-Landell Landell, Gladon, Oniangue, Mason and Zyro were not good enough for the Championship so are certainly no use in the Premier League!
Ben Marshall may fetch a reasonable fee and should be moved on along with Jordan Graham.
Does anyone have any idea when the retained list comes out?

I don't disagree with you, but I think we could get more than £5-7 million in total for those proven Champ/League 1 players.

The "ITK" was our dearly departed Turner who was spouting as per..

I think it was @WolfLing who contacted Wolves and the club secretary talked him through it and confirmed he was home grown :)

I think MGWs participation all depends on who comes through the door in the summer and how big those names are. As great as he is you can still see the rawness in his game. PL teams will exploit that.

MGW’s participation also depends on which position Nuno wishes to see him develop. If it’s CM then I agree with you CTA91 but ‘rawness’ is much more tolerable in one of the front three. Indeed, it might even be seen as a positive.

Players ages are as of January 1 of the year - Neves was not 21 until March 13 2018 (having been born in 1997) therefore for THIS UPCOMING SEASON he will be an under 21 player in the views of the Premier League so does not count towards the 25 man squad - therefore his nationality for 2018/19 does not matter, he could be a Martian for all the system cares - MGW & Bright also do not count towards the 25

Anyone heard any whispers about players leaving lately?

Would be nice to think that with the smaller high quality squad in mind that we'd be able to get a few quid in as well, after all we got cash for Bod and Edwards of Reading last year.

Dunno how much we’ll get, I guess people like Batth and Marshall we might get £1m each, players like Gladon and Eubanks-Landell though we won’t get a fat lot tbf.

I think that Batth although now not good enough for where we want to be should command more than a million. For some of the other players though we may have to subsidise their wages if we want rid of them.
