It was 40 years ago today that we took our first official trip.Hull away 16th October 1976.
A few names from those early days that helped run the club Doreen Moscrop,Tony Brown,
Dave Smith,Ian Richardson,Lenny Crane and a little help from me Peter West.
Credit to Alan James and the late Fred Simmonds who took the club on and ran it through the later years.
The club is now run by Mark Hadley and has been revitalised.Full credit to him and Stuart Jones.
A lot of memories came back yesterday when myself and Lenny Crane realised it was 40 years that the Club had been running,We felt very priveleged to be on the coach.
RIP to so many who were with us then and over the years and are not able to be now.
    Up the Wolves.

Well said Pete and fully agree and echo those sentiments. As you know Tony Brown is my uncle and although not in great health, he's still going strong and asks me and Steve for updates on matches. My era with Telford Wolves was between 1983 and 1999 (while I was still young and single) and those days were a very happy time in my life, even going away during the Bhatti era (Chorley etc) didn't dampen my enthusiasm, it only fuelled it more. I don't go to as many now (5 or 6 a season) but very proud my lad is now a regular (the resident youtuber scottyWWFC).

Great to see Mark running it so well, and seeing the club as strong as ever. A lot of fans on the coach deserve credit for making it a great away day experience.

Going to Brighton with them on Tuesday

Fred Simmons got me into travelling away and what a beautiful human being he was. Whilst I would be signing up to the next away trip he would unbeknown to me, be texting my wife and dropping me in the ****. Love that bloke!

Telford Wolves would not exist if it were not for Mark Hadley. Again Telford Wolves are blessed with having another beautiful human being. My thanks to him for alll he does and his family for supporting him.

Thanks to Stuart Jones for the pub stops and great they are too. Thanks to Sam Payne and Joey Williams for the newsletter which is superb.

But most of all, thanks to the folk who travel what a great bunch they all are. Love you all.

I was on that trip too, with a few other young Madeley lads...

Remember Luton away when they ambushed the window? I chased after them and then Baz? Rescued me from a severe beating.

Happy 40th Anniversary Telford Wolves.. it brings back some happy memories of the club.

I sometimes travelled with them to away matches in London/South with Alan Wigley, so I remember Doreen and Dave Smith and his girlfriend well.

We were picked up at the Gailey roundabout, or I drove to Telford, and then stayed over night, after getting back for the pub.

I think Alan knew more members than me, and kept in touch more.

My Mum, Dad and I were invited to a Telford Wolves do, must have been 1978, the night Gary Pierce was there, great guy and evening.

Telford Wolves.. one of Wolves great, old supporters clubs.

Dave Smith and his then girlfriend Carol have now been married for 40 years plus, with children and grandchildren
Their first grandson is now a season ticket holder and also goes to most of the away games with Dave and Carol

Wow. Thanks for the info, Ercall.

It just goes to show how long 40 years is.

Remember boarding the coach, and Doreen was always sat in the front seat, and I think Dave and Carol were sat not far behind her.

They smashed the window. We chased after them down a couple of streets.........and there was a gang of them waiting. Had to run back to the bus to avoid a severe battering. Ah those were the days.

Lenny Crane - that name rings a bell. I'm sure I knew him in an earlier life ... Did he used to play Sunday League for The Fountain at Wrockwardine Wood in the mid 80's?

I echo every word that has been expressed about Telford Wolves and the guys who run it. I will never mention the name of the main man, as I know how much he detests being singled out, but you know who you are pal, and we all love you and thank you for everything that you do.

I personally have just cause to be so grateful to the folk from Telford Wolves for many things, including always being amongst the first to volunteer as a huge group for all of my crazy little projects. To my mind they are the very essence of what true Wolves fans should be, genuine, kind, generous, welcoming and a real close knit family. I am honoured and privileged to have got to know quite a few of the members over the last few years.

    Here’s to the next 42years.

John Dickens did indeed produce the TW newsletter late 70s early 80s. John stopped travelling around 1982. He's alive and well still living in Trench, Telford.
