Never thought whilst he was at the club and available for selection I would suggest a Wolves starting line up without Neves.

    But...............

    Same again for me Sunday.

    Thoughts?

I'm not sure tbh! Neves for Saiss is the obvious choice but Saiss played so well. But then do Newcastle have the same quality as Chelsea? It' tough really. Think the big thing is Gibbs-White must start.

Absolutely this. Moutinho can come on near the end once we're ahead to close game out.

For me it should Neves or Moutinho, Saiss or Dendoncker. It appears more balanced that way.

    Neves shouldn’t come back in
Even if he were in great form before his suspension changing a winning team is usually a big no no
But yeah agree with everyone it has to be neves or moutinho not both

    As you were for me.

Saiss was key, did the dirty work and having the additional body in midfield meant MGW was able to be effective in the final third.

Neves for moutinho . Although anticipate same side. Don’t care about winning side etc. we stand more chance of winning with neves instead of moutinho

    3 in the middle again.

I don't think he will start Dendoncker even though I would like him to.

Neves in for me no matter with MG-W, and I think either one of Saiss or Mouts can be trusted to take up the third spot.

What we want is to take it to Newcastle and Neves offers that work-rate and tenacity that can help us get the 3 points there.

Agree with Neves for Moutinho. I'd go with Dendoncker over Saiss but Romain did a decent job against Chelsea and has barely ever let us down in his time here so no issue with him starting.

I guess the data from the fitness monitoring gadget might help Nuno decide whether he thinks Moutinio is good for two games in a few days...

Get Neves deeper like last season and MGW can do the forward link up play that Neves has been asked to do so far, he’s much better playing deeper, I’m afraid Moutinho to the bench as Saiss gives us balance, but Moutinho as a sub is quality off the bench that we’ve never ever seen the likes of before st this club

I thought Moutinho was excellent last night personally. Tenacious, good on the ball and worked his **** off for 90 minutes. It would be harsh to drop him.

I thought Moutinho was fantastic last night. He actually looked after the ball better than Saiss and made more interceptions. Thought he was really tenacious too. Not really sure why people are so keen for him to be dropped after that performance.

If Neves comes in, it would be for Saiss for me. Against Newcastle I think we will need to be better in possession as they get men behind the ball. Would be harsh on Saiss though as he did play well.

If Neves had played well the last couple of games I would still be trying to get him in there. Truth is he has looked a bit off it so I would personally be keeping the same team.

Thought Moutinho was excellent last night and is obviously as fit as a fiddle but 3 games in 9 days is a big ask at 32. Given how hard he and Saiss worked, I’d be tempted to freshen things up in the middle and go with:

    Patricio
    Bennett, Coady, Boly
    Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Vinagre
    MGW, Jota
    Raul

Reckon the only change will be Neves for Moutinho though.

Think the subs will play a huge part in determining the result.

Neves will come back in, it'll be harsh on whoever he comes in for as all the candidates to be replaced did very well last night. Doubt it'll be for MGW, we'll see him in the false nine again. Personally I'd give Moutinho a rest but I think it'll be Saiss who drops to the bench

I dont think Moutinho performed until the last 20 mins or so, prior to that I thought he was a bit of a luxury. So Neves in for Moutinho for me alongside Saiss.

I also don't think MGW was withdrawn from the front 3. He (and Jota to be fair) just played the position correctly!

Continue with the mid press and don't go back to the awful surrender midfield ****e.

    Patricio
    Bennett, Coady, Boly
    Doherty, Saiss, Neves, Vinagre
    MGW, Raul, Jota

Disagree. We didn't play a front 3, which is why it suited MGW. He played behind the front 2, in the '10' role in behind.

Playing in a front 2 suited Jota as he played more centrally than he has previously this season. Jota was also best employed last season, in my opinion, when he was the middle man of the front 3.

Additionally, it is no coincidence that Moutinho had a good last 20 mins as it was during this time that he was pushed into the 10 position, which is where he's played the majority of his career.

    Maybe Neves for Moutinho.....

we were definitely still playing a front three, it was a narrower front 3 that at times swapped places between each other, much more like we did last season.

I agree. I'm not sure I want to see the Neves/Moutinho partnership again any time soon, it leaves us far too exposed and overrun in midfield. Having Saiss in there, who is physical and a decent ball winner, was much better. Dendoncker also looked very good too, so could even challenge Saiss for that place next to Neves or Moutinho.

It looked like MGW was almost an out and out forward to me with Jota and Raul wider.
