With the likelihood of Sako and Ricketts moving on, plus the possibility of the Pole(he may want guaranteed first team football ) and the uncertainty of whether Clarke will get a new deal it got me thinking of possible targets who it looks like will be bargain basement signings.
By that reckoning any thoughts on
    A back up Keeper?
    Left Winger?
    Back up striker?
    An experienced player ala Ricketts?

I think we'll go back in for that Zyro chap to replace Sako. Other than that I'd like to see us bring in Luongo, Powell (bit of a punt on him) and a more physical striker for an alternative option to Dicko and Afobe, who that is I'm not sure!

You forgot to mention that Iorfa abd Afobe may be subject to bids also

    A new CB.
    A new CM.
    Replacement for Sako.
    Alternative striker i.e. target man.

That is less likely to happen than the aforementioned

Maybe so but the purpose of my thread was to try and establish who?

I know but all of the above are out of contact(Clarke May have a year option) whereas Afobe and Iorfa are under contract.

2 wingers, 1 centre midfielder, 1 number 10/forward/striker should all be permanent early deals, then whatever else springs up as the season progresses.

Or maybe we can wait until the 31st Aug before putting a bid in for Sako's replacement.

There will be a summer of uncertainty at Brentford so I would be after the following straight away:

    Jota - Winger
    Andre Gray - number 9

Additional to these I would like to see us go after another centre half and a central midfielder:

    Baily Wright - Preston
    Masssimo Luongo - Swindon

Not a clue really, I expect Zyro & Wallace to be the wingers looked at with maybe Knockeart if he's out of contract we can get in early. But Leicester have more money than us now so who knows how that will go. Murphy Sheff Utd maybe.

I'm not sure how courted Mulumbu would be for the centre midfield but he'd be ideal on a free also if we could afford his wages.

I've always like the look of players such as Brunt, Adams, Whittingham similar would be nice & for the forward I really don't know mate.

I would like to see a holding midfielder bought to give us some defensive cover against the better teams (Mulumbu, Lewis Cook), an attacking midfielder (Jed Wallace, Jonathan Williams) a winger to replace Sako (Luongo, Zyro) and a big man forward for the bench (never rated him before and not a reaction to the NI game but though Lafferty played well against us for Norwich)

I expect 1, maybe 2 on a free or small fee and the squad then being backed by those from the youth set up.

It would be nice to sign an African who isn't brittle of mind.Similar to when we signed Corica. The only Aussie with an inferiority complex.

Who're the standout players in League One this season? I have to admit I've not really been paying too much attention to it this year.

If we get promoted we will need to replace a fair few I would think. Couple of defenders and a couple of midfielders and a new striker

Targets change depending on which league we are in.

If we was in the Premiership I want us to be ambitious, its 100 million a year soon. Get the cash book out.

Fabian Schar and Fabain Frei from Basel.

    Christoph Kramer from Leverkusen.

RVLPs Brother, Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV.

    Kevin Volland from Hoffenhiem.

    Joselu from Hannover.

Realistically we probably wont see us come close to them but ow well.

So to replace Sako, Craig Noone, Johnny Russell or Garath McCleary.

New Cm Danny Holla or Daniel Williams.

I think we may go in for the following:

CM:Alex Pritchard (Spurs / Brentford) or Massimo Luongo (Swindon)
Winger: Anthony Knockaert (Leicester) or Jesse Lingard (Man Utd / Derby)
    Attack: Michael Smith (Swindon)

I think defence may be seen to be okay. We have Iorfa, Hause and EEL who between them can cover all positions.

The assumption is it will be in the Chump because if we go up there will be so many imponderables.
You could always just ignore it.:D

Alex Pritchard would be a brilliant signing. Pretty sure we were interested in him before.

If we could get him & Luongo who have both had the similar upbringing to Mason at Spurs & even Afobe at Arsenal they would fit our profile of players quite nicely.

Unless of course Rowe & Saville make great strides over the summer.

We'll be looking within a particular profile of age and technical ability. Realistically speaking we'll be looking at players with potential and resale value - 25 will be the ceiling in terms of age. There won't be a great outlay of money aside from perhaps one marquee signing (and I would pick Volland from your list, he has great potential though he'd be expensive). We should be investing in someone like Mark Warburton to come and work alongside/replace Thelwell.

Sako will sign a new contract if we're promoted in my opinion.

We will need a central midfield player, left winger, new no 10 and another striker.

Morgan has no ambition. Moxey is a controller. They will both manipulate and control Kenny Jackett into forcing him into quotes that make him sound like he isn't that bothered about strengthening too.

Assuming we're in the championship still and have lost Sako a replacement and a no.10 are the main priorities with a forward also needed.

Winger: Jamie Paterson, Johnny Russell (should Derby go up), Harry Bunn, Tom Ince, Mackay-Steven, Gareth McCleary.

No.10: Pritchard, Aluko (could be for any of the three positions), Knockaert, Zach Clough, Mark Davies (I know), Conor Hourihane, Jacob Butterfield, Jed Wallace, Nick Powell.

Strikers: Andre Gray, Nakhi Wells, James Vaughan, James Wilson (loan), Chuba Akpom (loan), Moussa Dembele.

Centre Mid (if budget allows): Matty James, Danny Drinkwater, Massimo Luongo.

I know some of those won't come cheap but there's a mix of cheaper alternatives and loans to balance it a little.

I don't think we need a massive overhaul in the summer, a few key additions and we'll be well on our way, I'm more than happy with the defence.

It will be low budget options all round. End of story. They may spend a little bit on a Sako replacement if we are lucky.

What do you mean by low budget options? Gray 750k, Donalson free, Dicko 350k, Ighalo loan/free, Martin free, Murphy free, maybe a season long loan?
