Alot of their fans have slated Hunt this season i think they would be happy to see him go. Doyle will go in the summer imo he signed a contract extention to stop any rumours of him leaving this season.

They will get £2m for selling Fae, If they sold Hunt and Doyle thats another £13/14m. They could improve their squad massively with that sort of money.

They have not got the biggest of squads so i would rather they kept their squad as it was and hope they start getting injuries and some players lose their form.

Hunt is their biggest asset. If they lose him then I'd relax a lot more. His delivery from set pieces is exceptional and the reason that Reading notch quite a lot of goals from corners even though they arn't a big side. If I had one X Mas wish it would be to see Hunt in our team instead of Readings but he will be off to the Premiership.

He is a pretty decent player, but a nasty piece of work, so I would not want him at Wolves!

Still, we should put a bid in to try and upset the applecart though, just for $$$$s and giggles.

I disagree, i accept his challenge on cech was bad. But he doesnt do that every week. My mate is a Reading Season Ticket holder and hasnt told me that it's in his nature to act in that way week in week out.

But coppell will be able to bring in a better replacement with the money at his disposal. Reading have a lot of money to spend in january.

I think they'd still be a threat for an automatic spot even if they lost those two. They just have that look about them that suggests they will keep grinding out the results - plus Coppell is seriously, seriously good manager - Reading have been over achieving for a while now and they look like they'll carry on doing it whilst he's in charge.

Let Reading keep Hunt and then have him pick up a season ending injury on January 31st.

Or am I being too cruel?

I'd take Hunt in a flash. Really good player, creates nearly all of Reading's chances.

If they lose them both, i doubt they will stay in the 'hunt' for automatic promotion.

I can't think of anyone they could realistically sign who is better than Hunt. Hunt is one of, if not the best player outside the Prem. He creates most of Reading's chances and scores more than his fair share of goals.

Then it'd make sense for the team after Hunt to go and get this better player themselves, surely?

How would they get better players than Hunt and Doyle to come and play in the championship for a team not gaurenteed promotion? Coppell said something like he doesn't want to talk about speculation but if they get realistic offers.....so basically they are for sale at the right price.

I`d rather them lose doyle. They can create all the chances they like, he is the one that sticks them away. Look how we suffered because we didnt have somebody who could score goals last season.

Coppell may think of off loading both Doyle and Hunt come the jan transfer window.Good piece of news unless maybe because Reading are tightening their belts.

Most of their players are still on Prems salaries i assume ;)
It could take a toll in the lond run.

Hunt is a very good player and has most of their 'Assits' when you look at the figures. I hope they loose him to a prem side, because in my view they will not be able to replace him with such quality.

Loosing Hunt and Doyle will weaken that team no question no matter who they buy. I just don't see Reading spending the proceeds (around £12m?). They may go for someone like Frayatt for a couple of million but thats about it. The they have the problem of integrating a new player in to what would be their 1st team.

I am assuming that we will not loose any of our big stars, any player we bring in will be more squad players which would give them more time to bed into the club.

Yes, well spotted but in my defence 95% of all my posts are from a window mobile smartphone - hunting and pecking little on screen keys with a stylus. It does not take a lot to pick the wrong aut-complete word. Plus I am a crap at spelling any way ;)

Both Hunt and Doyle have said they want to be playing for a premership side challenging for a top 4 finish in the prem.

Will they stay if bids are made for them in January? I think Doyle will stay til the end of the season and leave even if they are promoted but i think Hunt will be off soon if someone matches his transfer clause.

    Villa to take doyle

    Everton to take Hunt

Both clubs fit the criteria, but i hope their chairman has a tin hat if it happened. Morgan would need a bunker if he sanctioned similar sales in january.

I don't hold with this 'bring in better replacements as they'll have the money'

    1) They wouldn't spend all the money
    2) It's unlikely the replacement would be as influential this season

The more i think about it the more i think you are right h-w.

Reading sold Sonko for a total of £8m and have no invested it back into the squad. If they sold Hunt and Doyle they would replace them but i doubt it would be with a better player at this current time.

To start with i though they might use all the money to give them more strenth in depth which would have worried me more than them keeping their current thin squad, but looking at the bigger picture that unlikely to happen.

Was nice of him to say that he wants us to go up ahead of Birmingham. For anyone who missed it, he said that we've got a great bunch of lads, play good football and in an ideal world Reading would go up as Champions with Wolves in second.

Bet that went down well with the Hobknobbers.

Slightly off Thread topic but a couple of tabloids I've read today are saying that there's a couple of Prem teams after Bikey also. Been pretty influential at the back for them hasn't he?

To be fair to them they can hardly complain - Stephen Hunt has given his all for Reading FC since day one and watching the Birmingham game yesterday he doesn't half work his $$$$$$$$ off closing the opposition down and counter-attacking at pace. I really think he would be a Mick McCarthy player, though I highly doubt he would come here and I can't see Reading not going up automatically.

Lets hope he goes then. Quoted as saying that he wants to be back in the Prem. Don't think he means he's prepared to wait until Summer either.
