Stadium Questions

Discussion in 'Molineux Mix Archive' started by Veins Of Old Gold, Dec 18, 2008.

  1. Got a couple of questions regarding the ground.

What is going on with the video screens? Are they pulling them down?

Will the temp stand return if we go up? If so have they considered removing the video screen in the south east corner and putting a temp stand there?

Capacity would be over 30,000 then.

The screens will probably be staying where they are until it's decided what's happening with the rest of the ground. Haven't heard anything re. temp stand.

In the Blues program JM answered exactly the same questions re: the video walls. Can't remember exactly what was said, but something along the lines that they may well come down, but it isn't high priority atm.

I think that the video walls as with the PA system are all wrapped up in plans to redevelop the stadium. When they will make final decisions I don't know, but I imagine that whether we go up this season or not will have a large bearing on how quickly redevelopment will happen. If they know they have parachute payments to utilise, they can perhaps be more adventurous with capacity and design etc.

As I remember it (and my memory is not the best) the club said around the time of our Carling cup departure that they would be ready to release plans ref ground redevelopment in about a month. Whathas happened or did the club really use this news as positive PR when everyone was disappointed at yet another early League Cup exit?

Moxey mentioned in the programme that it wasn't worth investing in the two existing towers as they will more or likely be removed when the ground gets developed, but then went on to mention they would be lookig at new HD technology and alternative locations for big screens (presumably not on towers). Doubt we will need a tem, poaray stand when the ground gets redeveloped so no scaffold stand to worry about.

Morgan has also said he wouldnt be able to fill the corners in at the NB, due to the way it was constructed (or it would be very difficult to) something about it was built the way it was to save a few thousand pound, but makes it really hard to develop the corners there...

The SB however isnt the same...

No, apparantly the screens will be removed at the end of the Season and replaced 100ft solid gold statues of Andy Keogh for Glasgowwolf to worship.

Not strictly true. He said it wouldn't be possible without taking the roof off. Someone then suggested that the support beam could be extended, which is true, but I'm sure they'd want to cantilever it anyway.

If we do go up it's a great opportunity to begin redeveloping. Builders/fitters are crying out for work so we won't get ripped off. Personally I don't think we need more than about 35k capacity for the forseeable. What we do need is to modernise and improve what we've got first.
The crush at the back of the South Bank at half time v Barnsley was ridiculous and it's experiences like that which are putting people off.

    Update from WOW:

    http://www.wolves.co.uk/page/News/0,,10307~1500535,00.html

Not much to report. Clearly the message is that we won't start any work until we know what league we are in and the current economic downturn has stabalised. The article seems to indicate that increasing the capacity is going to occur as part of the redevelopment.

I like the idea of that. Get them straight in the back way from the coach park and station, then we don't need this chaos at the back of the SB every home match.

Stick em in the Noth Bank upper tier where they can be seen and not heard

  21. I can't see the above happening in all honesty.

The NB is still looked upon as the home end even though recently, it's lost it's voice.

If the North Bank lower tier joins up with the Steve Bull lower, then if they design it properly, the FA cup allocation for away fans can be sorted!

  25. Would they have done it if Blues were in the flank?

    No.

The North Bank has historically always been the home end. It doesn't have to share with away fans.

Why did it go quiet :(

The wooden cow shed which used to drip urine on the fans buying coffee underneath has long gone.

  28. I must say since being in the South Bank I have felt like I have been at an away match.

Our support away from home is superb,

Having sat in the North Bank,Steve Bull and now recently the South Bank, I won't be leaving for a long time!

They served refreshments in the cowshed lol?
