For gifting Watford the game today. Granted, I understand they've got a big game Monday night, but to give a team 3 points at this stage of the season given the position Watford are in is disgraceful in my opinion.

Not to mention the fact that the little scumbag who should of been banned put in a man of the match performance and grabbed himself a goal.

Putting the game on Monday is a ridiculous decision. Not readings fault IMO

If they win their replay on Monday they won't care if they do get fined, a trip to Wembley will more than cover the cost.

I don't see the need to play a weakened side, they're playing Saturday-Monday. We played Blackburn away then Fulham at home in a replay on Sunday-Tuesday, yet Kenny didn't chuck in a load of kids at Ewood Park.

Annoying about Forestieri, I take it that's it as far as the FA are concerned, no action needed for his cheating. Chance to send out a strong message that the Football League doesn't tolerate stuff like that, but no. Pathetic.

Only made a couple of changes. Still had line-ups which could be considered 'strong' in both games.

I believe they gave 4 players first team debuts yesterday, and made 11 changes from their last League game?

It was planned if they beat brighton mid-week.Commentators on Radio Berkshire kept talking about resting a few against watford as they believe they were safe.

You have a team of 20 players as long as you pick the 11 from that list who cares.

I believe it's something to do with they can't have replays played the same night as champions league games. Also it's strange that the Liverpool replay isn't until next month.

How weak was the team Reading put out, I missed all of this.

Although must say I agree with Shorey69, provided you pick from your first team it's fair, who decides what the strongest side is if not the manager. Any ruling you could put in to try and force team selection would either be farcical or easily circumvented. Provided you don't give 6 eighteen year olds their debut you're entitled to pick whoever you want from your squad. I'd hope we'd do similar if we were in with a shot of making the FA Cup Semis and marooned in midtable

Yeh, i completely disagreed with that as well. Didn't we get fined for that, for making 10 changes? I remember Blackpool doing something similar the season after and getting the same punishment.

I agree it is down to the manager to chose their team, but when its quite blatantly an attempt to save players for another game, at this stage of the season it's just wrong. What if Watford go up now by a goal or something trivial?

I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, that this was before the 25 man squad rule came into effect and we picked some really random ones that night of course. Was it the following season that the squad naming thing came into being and then "pick whoever you want from that" was fair game?

Did we? Not for the ticket price we weren't

As far as I can recall the 25 man squad rule had been in for quite a while

With the Champions League games being spread over 4 weeks it's a bit of joke not to allow FA Cup games to be replayed during that time, good job only 2 team drew.

If we are ever one game from an FA Cup semi at Wembley and in mid-table I blooming hope we rest players if we have to play a game two days earlier!

Reading are completely within their rights to prioritise the cup game and do whatever they see fit to give them the best chance. Yes it might favour Watford but no more than fielding a team that has their mind elsewhere and is avoiding tackles and saving energy.

It has become common place to focus on the league rather than cups.....$$$$es me off but that what happens

I go to cup games...with the naive hope we will put out our best side

I was spitting nails about it at the time and I'm still angry to this day about waving the white flag at Old Trafford just a few days after winning at White Hart Lane.

£42 to watch the reserves (plus Jez's booking fee). Well actually it cost me about £150 to attend that game for 2 tickets plus transport and we were stuck in a massive traffic jam on the M6 afterwards so didnt get home til afterwards after 2am. I never want to see Wolves wave the white flag again.

I remember being a bit unhappy at the time, however if you compare the 2 sides between the man united game and the west ham game in the march, here were the similarities.
Hahnemann, Elokobi, Zubar, Mancienne, Foley all started both games.
Berra, Henry, Jones, Jarvis, Ebanks-Blake, Iwelumo, Halford were involved in both games either playing or on the bench.
So 5 started both, with another 7 involved in both games. With the 25 man squad rule in force, you couldnt really argue with the changes made as they should all be deemed good enough for the squad.

9 changes to the Reading team from the last game they played.

I'm really annoyed with this. Reading are a decent side, as seen by the way they played at our place a couple of weeks ago. I don't for one minute blame them or their manager for making the call to prioritise the cup game, and as someone else said, I would hope Wolves in the same situation would do the same.

What annoys me is that Watford get to play a weakened side (Reading youth team as Football League show described it), score +3 in the goald difference, +4 in the goals scored column in something that should have been avoided, giving all the teams around Watford a fair chance at playing the same standard of opposition.

But then don't get me started on that cheating $$$$$$$ playing for them this week when he should've been banned for at least 1 game (2 yellow card offences). He assisted 2 and scored one of the goals. That's what has made me the most mad!

Really??? its a squad game and a results based business. He choose to use the squad in a cup game, next league game usual first teamers were brought in and we won and stayed up that season. Some of you im sure would moan like $$$$ if we'd have played the first team in a cup game, suffered injuries to star performers and because of that lost vital league games resulting in us being relegated by a point!!
