I know it is a credit to how far we have come, but we hardly play on a Saturday afternoon now. Maybe I am just old fashioned, but I used to like it when everyone kicked off at three o'clock on a Saturday.

This afternoon I will watch the scores, but with Wolves and Albion not playing I will not have many scores to look out for, apart from Lincoln
    City of course.

Am I just a dinosaur or does anyone else miss the old days?

I agree, Europa league kills it with Sunday kick offs.

Ideal world 8 games on a Saturday, 1 Sunday and 1 Monday i’d say.

That said, a Friday night under lights at Molineux with a heavily lubricated fan base makes for a good atmosphere.

Money runs football and it follows the successful clubs. Therefore, as we are now, thankfully, a part of that, we have to accept it.
I know that no-one on here wishes that we weren't a part of the successful group, but for me and maybe some others of my (old :)) age the memory of something like our 1950s success, which was totally without any extra money involvement, would have its advantages.
Pre Sky League champions and FA Cup finalists such as Huddersfield, Charlton, Blackpool, Bolton, Burnley, Preston, WBA, and Luton have a nostalgic feel about them - to me at least.
    Nurse! Another blanket please! ;)

Always scores to look out for, results go our way this weekend and we pick up 3 points we could be up to 9th
Give it a couple of more weeks and Mourinho will be telling the Utd fans finishing above Wolves isn't realistic anymore

Football should be played at 3:00 pm on a Saturday with the occasional midweek game. End of.

I'd far prefer Saturday @ 3.0pm kick offs but not at the expense of success. Just a pity the two are pretty much mutually exclusive in the PL.

Funnily enough I was talking to my mate at the Chelsea game and said I do miss the old days when all league matches were played on a Saturday. I remember watching Grandstand or World of Sport and the teleprinter clicking away which showed the up to date scores. Anyone remember Dickie Davis, Frank Bough and the great David Coleman? I think Des Lynam also presented Grandstand. What has happened to him?

I do accept that times have changed and the way it is now is how it will stay. My days of feeling like a dinosaur have evaporated and change will always be inevitable when so much money is involved.

Just one question though. Are matches played on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Spain, Germany, Italy and other European countries?

    Definitely agree with the OP.
Miss the old ticker tape machine, typing the results and James Alexander-Gordon reading them out.

I also liked the old Christmas programme, when you played the same team home and away in 2 or 3 days. Same thing at Easter. Christmas 1958 was a cracker. We played Portsmouth on Boxing Day away and then home the next day. We put 12 past them, 5-3 at Fratton Park and 7-0 at Molineux.

We have had major debates on the Telford Wolves coach, we are all ****ed about the stupid kick off times, the stupid Friday nights, Sunday nights and Monday nights all away at places far far away....getting home in the early hours of the morning and feeling knackered

I hate Sky television, wish they would go bust

The Derby D'Italia between Juventus and Inter Milan was played last night ( same night as the " Derby D' who gives a tosso " ) In the good old days before that clown from Leeds bought the rights to Serie A I was an avid fan on BT ( as was Ewok v Wolf ! ) of the live games on a Sunday morning and then a 2.30 GMT game ( this is and always has been since I can remember the standard kick off in Italy ) then finally one at 7.45 on a Sunday night.

La Liga is strewn out all over the weekend so much so that unlike other major leagues they do not seem to have a standard 3pm Saturday.

The Germans have a game on a Friday night the bulk on a Saturday with 2.30 GMT kick offs. They have a live match on Saturday at 5.30 with another one or two live on a Sunday. They tried having a live game on a Monday night but the fans protested hugely against this with protests such as throwing hundreds of tennis balls onto the pitch ! I believe they have put that idea on hold.

Think most Dutch games take place on a Sunday morning. While the French play about half on a Saturday and the other half Sunday.

In Germany fans are starting to take action to protest about the kick off times I believe.

I'm a dinosaur. Much prefer Saturday 3pms. With the KOs all over the place I've had to forego an ST as I can't make half the games. Money talks.

Yep. Saturday 3pm for me. The whole build up to the weekend, and going to games on a Saturday was great, picking up the paper to see the results after vaguely hearing them on the radio, working out where we were in the table. Great stuff. All different now, I suppose- not necessarily for the better. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great being able to watch so many games, and Wolves games, on telly- but not the same as Saturday afternoons.

Bundesliga Monday games to be discontinued as fan protests persist | DW | 21.11.2018

Imagine if English supporters had the same solidarity as our German comrades. Proof though that change can happen and the tide can be turned back.

Unfortunately, if most English supporters held a silent protest it would be virtually indistinguishable from ordinary games. I don't like the 'ultra' movement (it's no coincidence that it started where it did imo; and it'd be terrible if non-football-related politics of whatever persiasion alienated supporters - these are EVERY supporters' clubs) and i prefer the more organic culture and atmosphere of rowdy British crowds (like Palace away this season) but as a way of organising to stand up for ordinary fans they sometimes have their value, as in this case where they've forced the German league to abandon 'MNF'.

Thanks for the responses. I know times have changed and television dominates everything, but I preferred it when it was all 3 o'clock kick offs. Though I may be wrong but didn't Torquay United always play home games on a Saturday evening? Not sure why that was though.

You are not wrong Frank as living in Devon Torquay did used to kick off at 7.30 on a Saturday. I cannot tell you why as it was not like Tranmere as I could understand that they played on a Friday as they are in the shadow of Everton and Liverpool.

I believe Wolves helped to end the Saturday night games after a game in the 1986/87 which we won 2 -1 nearly ended up being abandoned. I believe the Referee wanted to call it off but the local police commander said no fearing a full on riot by the hundreds of Wolves fans who had decided to vacate the stands and were literally stood on the touchline like you would do in a Sunday morning league !

It was always going to a potential powder keg having a Saturday night game in an English seaside town. Southend were I used to stay when working at nearby Shoeburyness had Friday night games for years but that stopped for the same reasons as Torquay's did which meant after a day breathing the salty sea air and the need to lubricate the vocal chords as the Kaiser Chiefs would say it was a case of " I predict a riot ! "

You'll love next week then ;)...

Used to bother me, but seen as its happened so often lately I don't mind now.

Only thing I hate is when it starts eating up holiday time, like the current date and KO time of the Man City trip.
