Ive heard from a decent source that it is a done deal we will be signing a player from Coventry in January and this player is not a defender.

Apologies if this has already featured elsewhere

Jay Tabb is out of contract in the summer and has refused to sign a new deal.

He would be good cover for the wings

it says this player is not a defender. The only decent midfielder they have is Jay Tabb but why would Cov sell? Beuzelin is also a very good passer in the middle of the park but he's pushing 30 so not sure we'd go for him.

    C'mon then;
Did your decent source let on a name to yourself? What position is your decent source in within football without giving too much away?

Clearly not a goalkeeper or as said a defender. It ain't going to be Blington or Freddy so quite clearly a midfielder so my money is on Tabb!

I would like it to be Tabb but he could be Mifsud who is also out of contract in the summer.

If it was Mifsud then i know someone on here who would be very very happy.

Hope its not Mifsud the little $$$$.

Not the kind of bloke you want in a club that clearly has a very good spirit amongst them.

Tabb makes sense - we would get him on the cheap because his contract is running out - wages no problem, he is a 'worker' , good left wing cover and still only 24. Not a speed merchant and short at 5ft 7 but good squad player to have around. However he is a London boy so not sure if he would fancy Wolverhampton unless he feels its a passport to the Premiership. We will need a lot better in the Prem however.

  14. can i get a refund on my ticket if it is mifsud , sorry but i cant stand the little cheating @@''.,

Tabb makes sense and I certainly wouldn't say no.

    Who are Coventry's midfield two?

Doyle and Beuzelin normally, they have Gunnarsson and Tabb who are central players really but use them out wide.

Any two from Doyle, Gunnarsson, Beuzelin and occasionally Tabb.

I don't suppose Doyle or Beuzelin would improve our central midfield?

No, Beuzelin is an older, poorer version of David Jones, Doyle is just a scumbag.

I've said this before, there's no point in buying players who are unlikely to be able to make the step up to the next level. We already have enough of those.

It's also worth mentioning that Mifsud's contract at Coventry runs out in January and we've been rumoured to be after his services before.

Tabb makes sense as the papers have all been speculating that Coventry want to resign McSheffrey from Blues, I think he also plays on the wing. Can't say I would be too happy about Mifsud, personally i would hope we could sign a real quality centre Midfieler.

Fox has scored 4 goals from left back this season and has been used more as a left wing back.
could play on the left wing but do we really need another left sided player?

I would of thought not but we seriously need to be thinking about improving the starting XI if we get promoted. But we have 4 LBs that MM seems very happy to have any of them starting.

At the moment the only position MM hasnt found a regular starter for is the CM role with him swapping Jones and Edwards around. But if we go up some of OUR favourites could be finding themselves on the bench and out of the side.

  24. I've never really been a fan of 'Jay The Fat Midget Tabb', as i said in another thread. He won't be good enough for the prem so why sign him? Surely a loan deal for a winger would be a better idea?

As for the other Coventry players, i am really struggling to see who would come in and improve our current first team.

If guys like Ledley arent available for 5-6m then its time to cast the net further afield. Ex-commie, eastern bloc should fit the hard working bill with added mystique.

And destroy the harmouny we have in the squad with a few foriegn misfits in team...

Try and stick to UK base players...working well and understands how MM wants to play...

Camara is a perfect example . Oleg / And the great Defender with pace and no sense of postion abilty...Isiac Oranonko (sp)

The only non-British/Irish non-UK based players that McCarthy has ever signed are Christian Bassila, Sergei Yuran and Vassili Kulkov. That would suggest that we're unlikely to go down that route.

For the record, I think we'd be right to keep broadly to the current policy. Hull have bought well, but most of the foreigners they signed had UK experience (Cousin/Geovanni/Mendy/Halmosi).

Bring in a dud like Valero or Donk and it'll be "why didn't he stick to what he knew?".

I don't believe mick had much say over the two russians either. Even they were loan players, which the chairman gambled hundreds of thousands in wages on. Their arrival completely disrupted millwall's promotion charge, especially after mick took the eire job, so you're right to point out the chances of a foreign based non-brit arriving in january are zero. I wonder how many more times we will hear a mention of fox or tabb when it has been pretty much clarified it won't be either of them?

We were still getting mentions of Billy Sharp a year after we bid for him and he'd done nothing in this league.

The last non British/Irish, non-UK based players we've signed:

    Denes Rosa
    Gabor Gyepes
    Seol Ki-Hyeon
    Seyi George Olofinjana
    Vio Ganea
    Henri Camara
    Joey Gudjonsson
    Silas
    Isaac Okoronkwo
    Mo Camara
    Sami Al Jaber
    Ludovic Pollet
    Havard Flo
    Robert Niestroj

I'd rather we didn't bother, to be honest.

Missing a few Scandanavians off there aren't you Deutsch? Steffen Iversen, Gunnar Halle, Joachim Bjorkland.

I agree of the ones we've had I'd rather pass but that's not to say there aren't quality foreigners out there if you look hard enough.

Of course the one quality foreign player we've got is ..........................................................................................................

    Big George Elokobi.

Who already had English experience before we bought him, I think Deutsch is just pointing out the ones we've bought who hadn't had English experience previously? Could be wrong though.

That's a list of all those are both foreign AND we signed from foreign clubs.

Iversen and Nielsen were from Spurs, Björklund from Sunderland, Halle from Bradford, Laursen from Leicester, and so on.

The only one on the list that did have UK experience was Gudjonsson, who'd previously had a spell on loan with Villa.

Although I'm pretty sure Joey Gudjonsson had played in England before we signed him.

just because we signed $$$$e foreigners before, doesnt mean we cant sign good ones in the future. We've signed mainly $$$$e british players before as well.

It's not where our scouting strengths lie though, plus we play a very traditional "British" style based on width, pace and hard work.

It's not impossible to sign good foreign players, of course it doesn't, but it's not what our current management team do.
