This place is a joke. If we'd have lost today is thread would have been up before the final whistle had blown.

Very true. Norwich verdict thread got over 10 pages didn't it? Probably had 3 of them by this time last week.

  3. Special mentions for Henry and McDonald today. Thought they both worked very hard 'behind the scenes'

Stearman imperious. Batth and the keeper worry me

Great to at last do some damage to a team in this division, even if it was one of the weakest. Fulham will be much harder to break down I would guess. We need at least four wins in a row to break into the play off party. If we don't get injuries who knows? If we do, don't like the look of our back up in attack and midfield. And the teams above us are looking very solid on the whole. But hey let's enjoy the first 5-0 win for a very long time. The Afobe/Dicko partnership up front is full of promise. What a pity they have no back up.

I'll start, didn't go as I was at work Franksy but sounds like Edwards Batth McDonald and Henry were crap they gotta go Franksy! Jackett ain't gotta clue yes it was 5 and we kept a clean sheet but it's not enough I want us to get 10 and have minus one against us. They need to loan in 12 new players, I'm never going again I tell ya Franksy. One more thing it's all Jez Moxeys fault

Great fun watching today. We weren't water tight but who cares

Pig - when he's good he's great. Lack of comms a couple of times and he's prone to rushing out. I put it down to not playing too much as his keeping skills are top class. One outstanding save - 7
Iorfa - very very good today. Provides attacking threat, couple of naive moments which can be forgiven - 8
Batth - quite solid against a perfect opponent in Salmon. However beaten in the air a fair bit and completely cocked up trying to be what he isnt, a ball playing defender - 6
Stearman - excellent as ever, continues his great season. 8
Golbourne - we are a better team for him being in. Solid and attacked well - 7
KMac - ran the game, back to the player of old - great pass for the first - 8
Edwards - worked as hard as ever, scored again and was generally busy and efficient - 7.5
Sako - quietish surprisingly but worked hard for the team and took his goal well - 7.5
Henry - thought he was excellent and provides real attacking threat. 8.5
Afobe - class act. Two brilliantly taken goals. Serious talent and hugely excited - 9
Dicko - back to the Dicko of old - great performance and took the goal well - 8.5

Doyle - wonderful reception and did well considering he's rusty - 7
RVLP - same old. Hugely frustrating and doesn't need to be fancy all the time. Did however provide an assist and is a huge asset off the bench - 7
    Hause not on long enough

Pleasing stuff and a good game to watch. Get in.

A crazy scoreline that gives a skewed impression. We weren't great but took our chances well.

We were $$$$ poor for much of the second half, appallingly so for the first twenty minutes of it. They didn't really offer much but even then had many opportunities but were thwarted by poor finishing or good saves from our keeper......we were much too easy to play against IMO, failing to get a proper grip on the game in terms of being able to control general play.

Most odd to be feel a tad disappointed after that result!

Afobe and Kuszczak did equally well and my MOTM.

He made one top class save, and a lot of decent work. Clearly a great shot stopper. Needs to work with his defence on comms, and commanding box

When we win, especially like we have today, people have nothing to say.

Verdict: Well, the 5-0 did wonders for our goal difference and we are now catching Brentford's GD up. Kuszczak is a Hennessey clone: good shot-stopper (made a couple of wonderful saves) but is dodgy at crosses and set pieces. Afobe/Dicko looks very good indeed; Sako was his usual frustrating self; Henry was okay but pretty quiet; Doyle was Doyle; defence was solid (Golbourne did very well IMO) and the tactics were pretty much spot on. My only complaint really is that we're too slow tempo-wise and we dilly-dallied too often near our 18 yard box, which produced a couple of heart in mouth moments. Obviously some people will say 'but it's only Rotherham' but I don't care who it was, we needed that win. If we don't win against Fulham, however, it will mean nothing. I still think we'll just miss out on the POs but credit to Jackett and the boys for being anywhere near at this stage of the season. There's 14 games left; anything could happen. Going to be an interesting rest of the season.

    PIG: 7
    Golbourne: 7
Batth: 6 - Beaten in the air too often for my liking and for some reason decided to try to play it out of defence, which he isn't very good at. Solid enough though.
    Stearman: 7
    Iorfa: 7
    Mac: 7
    Edwards: 6
    Henry: 6
    Sako: 7
    Dicko: 8
Afobe: 9 (MOTM) Took his goals incredibly well; his second round the keeper was brilliant.

    Doyle: 6
    VLP: 6
    Hause: Not on long enough.

Jackett: 8 - Got tactics spot on in my view.
    Crowd: 7 - Not bad for 20,000.

5-0 is a great result but looking at the stats rotherham had many chances as well so im guessing the score line flattered wolves a tad.

As I said, I have no idea why we dilly-dallied so often, but we kept a clean sheet, so that means solid :D

Keeper - butter fingered wally 3/rocket-shot stopping hero 9.
Iorfa - out of position ball watching gangly buffoon 4/ exciting, forward bombing, twinkle toed starlet 8.
    Batth - poor today. 5
    Stearman - not bad - 7
Golborne- too much faffing around. Just clear it man! Good going forward. 6

We were appalling defensively and it is miraculous we kept a clean sheet.

Super Kev - sometimes it's like he's roller skating away from players, showed real pace, class and strength. Best performance for a while and the pass for the 1st goal was scrumptious. 9
Edwards - active as always, another goal. Not as effective in a middle 2 of course but there's no role further forward. 7.

Sako- lazy, brilliant , slow , fast, strong as an ox. Glad he's here for the rest of the season. 7
Henry. He's slow but he's skilful. Some cracking passes. Has a footballing brain. 8

In the 2nd half we were a little lazy at two nil and a touch overrun I felt. But once teams have to attack us we have genuine threats on the break.

Dicko - hard working, scored, nascent partnership is extremely exciting. 8
Afobe- one tries not to get carried away, but he's better than Leon was at the same age. Could he be our best ever January signing? 9 motm

Reggie was bonkers as always when he came on and it was smashing to see Doyle included.

All in all it was thoroughly enjoyable and sometimes comical!
Let's hope we've left some goals for Tuesday.
    Love and hugs.

Do some people ever find a good word to say. We won 5-0 WonderWolf, lets just celebrate that. It is up to Kenny to overcome any weaknesses he saw out there today. And then lets park the result. Fulham are another challenge on another day and todays result has nothing to do with how we perform against them.

I will do a proper verdict, once I have thawed out, but I thought Edwards was superb today, worked hard, won the ball, was always an option and passed it very efficiently, I thought it allowed McDonald to be better also, took his goal well.

We demonstrated some awesome firepower today.

Thought we relaxed a lot & stopped working so hard after our second goal, particularly immediately after HT, almost contriving to give an awful Rotherham side a way back into the game - Danny in particular had a few very dodgy moments. However, it was game over once we'd gotten the third.

Rotherham looked inept in most areas of the field and we put them to the sword.

  29. Came together today. We were far more direct and more fluid but not a 5-0 game. A very sensible set-up from KJ but at times I felt the midfield a bit too flat. Afobe and Dicko will develop but for me they are the front two in a 4-4-2. Rotherham very capable but I thought like us they were suspect at the back. Great finishing from our lads. Good little cameo from Doyler. The last twenty of the 1st we were unstoppable and in the second we just picked them off. Overall, quite encouraging. Consistency please. Feed the lads up front and they will score.

We were poor today IMO. Played in small parts in the first half after clinical finishing from our front two. We just sat back which invited pressure.

We played on the counter attack. It worked. But it wasn't great. The score flattered us IMO.

    Afobe is top notch. Motm.

5 flattered us, but we are due a big win.

Shame the north bank had emptied well before the game finished though.

Had to do a double take on the scoreline!

Such victories can breed loads of confidence. Great to see the team getting such a result.

What did KJ do differently in the set-up today?

A terrific result, which was formed by a dynamic, creative attacking display, showing Wolves at their very best. Being fair to Rotherham, they were in the game for the first 55 minutes, but once we started to hit them on the break, they had absolutely no answer. 5-0 on the balance of play may flatter us slightly, but we've equally had games where we could have won 5-0 but only won 1-0, Blackburn away springs to mind immediately.

We started the game positively, with Iorfa being the main attacking outlet. We had plenty of possession but couldn't quite find that killer final ball. That was until about 20 minutes in. McDonald, who I've been very critical of recently, played a sumptuous ball over the top, and Afobe showed great awareness to nip in ahead of the defender, and finished with real coolness. About 10 minutes later, it was 2-0. Again, we broke with numbers, and Afobe and Dicko worked well together, the former squeezing the ball through to the latter, who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way in the one on one, stroking the ball into the corner. At 2-0 Rotherham had a little spell where they seemed to be camped in our half. However, but for a combination of Derbyshire and Stearman putting the ball onto the post, and a comfortable low save for Kuszczak, we held them at bay relatively comfortably.

The second half started very strangely, we seemed intent on giving Rotherham a way back into the match. There were some very loose passes, some unnecessary risks at the back, and Kuszczak made two excellent saves, both times stretching every sinew to repel the ball. However, inviting Rotherham to come at us left gaping holes in their midfield and defence. After one such spell of Rotherham pressure, a corner if I remember rightly, the ball was played up field. Henry slipped Afobe through with a delightful pass, and the striker showed natural instinct. Instead of hitting the ball past the onrushing Collin, he simply side stepped the keeper's lunge, and rolled the ball into the net. It was a really fantastic finish, similar to his first Wolves goal against Blackpool. It gave us that much needed breathing space at 3-0, although we've proved already this season that 3-0 is by no means a done deal.

To give Rotherham their credit, they kept going, but that just left more and more space to be expolited, and exploit it we did. Sako drove fully 40 yards unchallenged, before his shot was deflected wide. From the corner, taken by Sako, Edwards made a clever near post run to glance the ball in via the keeper. It was 5-0 not long after, sub Van La Parra finding Sako, who squeezed the ball in from a tight angle. In amongst the carnage at one end, Rotherham managed to miss at least two absolute sitters, both times Connor Sammon headed it straight at Kuszczak.

I thought the formation really worked well from an attacking perspective today. Edwards and McDonald as the midfield two were both more positive, pushed further up and helped contribute to the forward line. Conversely, it did leave us quite open at the back, and against a stronger side we may have been punished, but Rotherham's profligacy and lack of quality allowed us to, not get away with it as such, but certainly gave us more wriggle room than we would have got against a Derby or Middlesbrough.

Like I say, 5-0 did perhaps flatter us, but you cannot argue with the quality of the attacking and finishing we showed. Each of the goals was well crafted, with both the assist and the finish being of an excellent quality. Whilst we rode our luck slightly at the back, and were indebted to Kuszczak for keeping the sheet clean, there is plenty to build on ahead of the rest of the season. Whilst I still think the Play-Offs are still maybe a stretch too far, if we can maintain today's levels we'll push them very close.

    Ratings:

Kuszczak- 9. May sound strange when you win 5-0 and your goalkeeper is close to MotM, but whenever he was called upon he was terrific. Made two outstanding saves, and his excellent positioning made some saves more simple than they could have been. One or two little wobbles, but generally commanded his area well, including two excellent claims from crosses.

Iorfa- 8. Terrific again, first half he was a major attacking outlet, kept bombing down the right, and although he lost the ball a few times, he was always willing to go again. Defensively he did well towards the end of the game, twice winning a goal kick against Ward in a one on one. Also produced one amazing bit of skill first half, when he seemed to dummy his own touch, spin, wrongfoot two defenders then waltz past them. It's difficult to describe but I'd love to see it again.

Batth- 7. Solid enough at the back, got touch tight to Derbyshire for most of the game and won a lot of aerial balls.

Stearman- 8. Another terrific performance, dominated the aerial battles and when the pressure was on, stood up well, made some vital interceptions, including one when Kuszczak got caught off his line.

Golbourne- 7. Such a calm figure in the defence, always looking to play the ball out rather than walloping it down the line. At times he was almost caught out, at the start of the second half especially, but he kept cool and got out of trouble.

Henry- 7. Very hard working, I think in terms of Iorfa's development it's great that he has someone like Henry in front of him. Not only because he gets back to help, but Henry's natural instinct going forward tends to be coming inside, which leaves a lovely open wing for Iorfa to drive into. Set up the third goal with a beautifully weighted pass too.

Edwards- 7. Did well in the midfield two, not his natural position, but he got back into the battles to put pressure on. Got another goal with a great, instinctive run to head home Sako's corner.

McDonald- 8. Much better. Much, much better in fact. One or two passes went astray, but generally he kept things tidy. Also, played 15-20 yards further forward. I don't remember him even dropping into our own box, something he's been guilty of far too often recently. The result of the more positive intent was that he was in position to play the ball to Afobe for the opening goal, with a superb pass.

Sako- 7. Some excellent work on the break, including an assist and a goal. Was perhaps the main culprit in the early second half though of playing us into trouble, twice he played a poor pass into Golbourne and then Stearman, allowing Rotherham easy possession.

Dicko- 7. Finished superbly for the second goal, and worked tirelessly to hold things up and start some breaks. Was overshadowed by Afobe but still played his part.

Afobe- 9- MotM. Fantastic. I think £2m is an absolute bargain for this lad. Technically, a superb footballer, and he backs it up physically too. He's got pace, power, and yet when needed can be so intricate and neat on the ball. Both goals were the finishes of a natural striker, showed awareness, composure and clincalneess.

    Subs:

Doyle- 7. A surprise inclusion in the squad, and came on to a rapturous reception. Showed some neat touches, but it did look at times as though he was getting left behind as Sako and Van La Parra screamed forward.

Van La Parra- 7. The perfect player to bring on from the bench, he slotted in seamlessly. Played Sako in for the 5th goal, and almost provided a 6th when he somehow kept a ball in on the byline, before fizzing a cross in which Doyle just couldn't reach.

Hause- Came on late and kept things tidy.

I thought we were average today. Rotherham were shocking at the back and just left huge gaping holes, at the back we gifted them 4 or 5 genuinely gilt edged chances. Very worrying.

We went out an 'won' the game early on and then made sure of it with clinical finishing to put it out of sight.

It was exactly what needs to be done in that game, usually we either struggle to break the team down and the long it is 0-0 the harder it becomes or we get to that 2-0 and then concede, panic and give them a way back into the game.

I felt we maybe gave them many chances to get back into it at 2-0 but your keeper does have to make saves and he did, but we made sure we maintained that threat to get another goal and we when those chances came along we took them.

Kusczak - made some great saves and seemed to be a magnet at times but also had a few 'moments'. 7
Iorfa - did well going forward but caught out of position horribly a few times. 7
Batth - not his best performance, did well in one attack where we could have easily conceded. 6
Stearman - good performance again, brought the ball out well too. 8
Golbourne - suffered a little going forward due to Sako drifting inwards quite a lot but was mainly solid. 7
Henry - did well linking up with the other attacking players and drifted in to good effect. 7
McDonald - felt he and Edwards left us a little vulnerable through the middle and was too ponderous at time but did well in spells. 7
Edwards - scored and was busy but as above left us vulnerable through the middle that better opponents would exploit. 8
Sako - scored but drifted in and out the game and like Henry drifted inwards quite a lot not sure this suited him as much as Henry. 7
Afobe - superbly taken goals, always getting into positions to have the ball when attacking and a threat both in terms of scoring and creating. 9
Dicko - Scored and linked up well with Afobe but faded a little in the second half as we became a little more conservative. 8

Obviously didn't go but thoroughly enjoyed following the MolMix commentary. When we score five, keep a clean sheet, four teams above us lose and we are only nine points off automatic promotion I fail to see a sniff of a negative.

Just a side point...why are we playing so narrow at the moment?

What a cracking game of football. We created two great goals in the first half and then countered really well in the second. We defended well however connor salmon had several decent chances (Its a good job that he's not a very good player to say the least!)

Pig: Solid. Great shot stopper, pulled off a couple of great saves. I personally think that his distribution is really good, nice loft passes that henry and adobe often managed to flick on. 8

Iorfa: What a youngster we have in our ranks. Confident on the ball, willing to drive forwards with it. Can't remember ward getting a cross past him all day. Well done on your award as well. 8

Batth: Really good in the air but had some iffy moments. He tried to beat players with his pace a couple of times which just didn't work, he needs to stick to his strengths and leave the more technical stuff to stears. 7

Stears: Our best defender without a doubt. He battled for every ball and won pretty much everything he went for. Really good at picking out a pass and by far our best player recently. 9

Scotty: Great to see him back. I rate cause but scott offers so much more going forward, he's more than happy to make runs past sako which i love. He did well defensively but wasn't great in the air. To be fair though this was more down to his height than anything. 7

Henry: Best player on the pitch in my opinion. Henry is by far the most intelligent footballer we have. He seemed to be 2 passes ahead of everyone else today. Great ball for Afobe's 2nd and was unlucky not to score. Also defended well today and tracked back well. My MOTM 9

Edwards: To be honest I was worried to see dave playing in a 442 but he actually played really well. He tracked his man a lot better then he has previously and did the simple stuff well. He very much took on the "price" role today. Good header for his goal. 7

McDonald: Dominated the midfield, it was like watching him in league one again. Admittedly this was because we were against poor opposition but he was still really good. His pass for Afobe's first goal was sublime. He strolled through midfield with so much confidence, it was nice to see. 8

Sako: Quiet but was more like the player we had before he left for AFCON. Drifted inside a lot and played quite a few nice balls. The confidence sako has is great to see. Nice run for his goal, keeper probably should have saved it but still great to see him on the scoresheet again. 7

Afobe: Best January signing ever? I think so, the kids got everything: Pace, Power and and immense goal scoring ability. He won a lot in the air and played a few decent balls. Took both of his goals suburbly and set up dicko for his goal. Will easily get 10-12 goals for us by the end of the season. I think he's already at 5/6. 9

Dicko: Ran the channels and was rewarded with a goal, which he took really well. He compliments afobe really well and i think they could both play in the prem one day. One of the best bargains we have ever had. 8

Kenny: Picked the right team and made the right subs at the right time. This is the right man to get us promoted. Wether its this season or next season.

    Subs:
Doyle: Did alright when he came on.I really like doyle and I'm glad that we're using him. He has that ability to make the ball stick to his feet. Almost got on the end of a VLP cross as well. I would imagine that he will honour his contract then move to the MLS. 6

VLP: 50/50 i like vlp and he made some good runs, got an assist and almost set up doyle. He does loose the ball a bit though and is poor at tracking back. Good overall though. 7

Hause: Not enough time to tell.
