Towards the start of the season, myself and my match attending mate had a discussion regarding replica tops. We were walking down Waterloo Road on our way to the match when in front of us was an obese gentleman wearing the current home top with "WE 8 ALBION" and "THE SOUTH BANK" on the back, and both agreed he looked a bit of a joke figure.

This man must have been at least 45 years old, he had tattoo's down each arm and a couple of ***** looking kids either side of him, laughing (a bit too loud for it to be genuine) at his jokes and joining in with the chants he started as they walked down the street.

The 2 youths were also wearing Wolves tops, which as they couldn't have been over 18, didn't look as bad as it could and does do. We've all done it, but most of us (well, the ones with a bit of style) grow out of it when we leave our teenage years.

My question to the mix is, what, in your opinion, is the acceptable age where by a supporter should really stop wearing replica tops?

Any age is fine by me. However, having stuff like "WE 8 ALBION" on the back should never be done; that's the problem here IMO.

I'm 45 and feel too old to wear one. Nuff said from my point of view. :(

I'm only 20 but think that you should be able to wear the shirt at any age. Obviously, sometimes it doesn't look right (as in your post) but there's nothing better than a hot summers day wearing a Wolves shirt and shorts. I think the club should stop printing we 8 albion and all that, leave it to players names/own peoples names

Anyone not prepared to wear a replica shirt, should no longer be considered a fan.

I gave last season's top to a sports bar in Portugal, and was too tight to buy a new one. So I've not worn one all season. However, I suspect I have one for Christmas, and I'm acutely aware that if I start to wear one now, we may not make the play offs...

Think its more to do with the printing than the age of the wearer, although only top end 30's I still wear replica shirts but have not had any names (never mind slogan's) printed on them ever. My kids have their fave players printed on back which is fine IMHO.

Any age. As said it's the We8Albion that's the big problem and also being a big fat $$$$er.

It's not the age of the person but the weight IMO.

Lardy boys just look daft in the shirt whatever the age, while the slimmer late 30's gentleman (such as myself) cuts quite the figure in the Gold...

I have no problem wearing replica shirts or seeing anyone wearing them to be honest. However, middle age men with earings....now thats a different matter - you may as well just write "D**k" on your forehead.

I don't wear one personally, but I don't have a problem with anyone else, regardless of age, weight etc, wearing one either.

In t-shirt weather I tend to wear the retro tops to the games.

    Retro top here too.

I didn't wear it for the first few games this season and much like DW, I can't now for fear of jinxing us.

I stopped wearing a replica top a few years back as I think anyone over 35 (especially with a gut) looks a bit daft.

I think shapely women look great in a Wolves shirt though.

  20. Totally agree, just seems so wrong having the word 'Albion' on a wolves top - keep em for footy training and summer with shorts otherwise i personally wouldn't wear one - unless were at Wembley/Cardiff etc although I do own a retro 1974 leauge cup winners which i think I can just get away with.........

Shirts at matches - fine. Shirts on your holidays? Nah. Shouldn't happen. Went to Menorca this year and the hotel was full of Germans. Counted 12 Bayern shirts (and no others, curiously enough) but only on pre-teenage kids, which was a blessed relief.

I wear a 70's retro top - looks better on older people than the new tops

  25. Retro tops are better if you have a retro hairstyle to go with it.

Careful Del you've missed out Wolfette2 (unless you know something I don't) so perhaps you shouldn't have named names (??) :)

On the replica tops front I'm 45 and mine has Dewsbury Wolf on it. :D

Quite the opposite actually. Folks approach me with the inevitable question ie "are you off MolineuxMix" and then proceed to chat. Either of the opinion that it (ie MolMix) isn't as good as it once was - too much bickering and in fighting -or just make general conversation. Why do you think my Friends list's so high?

I was only kidding, but I think bickering has been here for a long time (I was on the old E&S MM from about 2002). You must remember the Danish pastry with his universal paradigm?

I thought it was "Dynastic Paradigm" not "universal paradigm"? Mind I always get the two confused too when I mention either in casual conversation at the pub.

Any age, but $$$$ like "WE 8 ALBION" should be banned. In fact anything but a player name and number/your name and number is silly.
