There is alot of doom and gloom on here today and yes, the way we threw away two valuable points last night was disappointing but I think we need to take stock of the current position we find ourselves in.

I'm not a happy clapper optimist and have been waiting for things to go belly up all season but we are in a fantastic position. True, we haven't been great in recent weeks but ask yourself this - during this recent sticky spot in terms of form, have teams immediately below us made up any real ground? No.

Blues and Reading are still being kept at arms length and are also dropping points in games they should be winning. We have tricky games coming up but Blues have to play Blackpool away, Palace away and an in form Cardiff side. Reading have to go to Swansea, QPR and are playing the best away side in the league on the 27th!

I suppose the good thing about the negativity on here is that it shows how far we have come but lets not lose sight of where we are.

"The target always, I believe, is 92 points" - McCarthy (30/12/08). So 34 points from 20 games is the target - 1.7 points per game. Even with our dip in form in the last calender month we have lost only once and averaged 1.71 points per game.

Here's to a happy New Year.

swings and roundabouts, lucky v sheff utd and id say despite not playing at top notch last night we were unlucky not to win really. we went for the win in the 2nd half, cant fault the effort on a freezing night in blackpool, win at home, draw away is the standard to go up, we are ahead of that, keep up the good work lads the performances will come.

its not doom and gloom. Its a forum and so you tend to express your areas of discontent as we can all see the many strong points of the team. Complacency leads to failure - the manager and players should never be satisfied and should always be looking to improve.

92 points from 47 games in 2008. That's promotion form, with no Murray, Davies or Gobern to help out when we got injuries or when bad form affects a player. Absolutely superb team-building and man-management by Mick McCarthy.

I agree Pengwern the team building by MM has been excellent. To be 7 points clear and to have any form of a cushion is beyond my personal expectations. Some more astuste signings should see us improve again for the second half of the season.

We've dropped of the pace a little the last few games and I'm sure there are a few tired players out there. Add to the fact that WE are top and that WE are the team to beat in this league and every team below us is going to be up for it that little bit more.

Were top with a seven point cushion going into the New Year! We are going up!

THESE are the day's my friend!!!!!
