Having watched the Blues/Reading game there was strong evidence to suggest Reading will go up and Blues could drop into the pack which would be great news for us.As Reading were good, Blues were bad.
Reading were strong all over the pitch and have to play both Blues and us at home. Blues performance appears to reflect their season - poor, especially considering their high expectations. They have 4 tough games next - Ipswich, Swansea, Blackpool and Cardiff and could conceiveably screw up 2 or 3 of those.
Looking at today's table I am not sure where another credible threat will come from - Burnley, Cardiff and Sheff Utd are 13, 16 and 19 pts behind us with vastly inferior gd.
If we can turn over Sheff Utd I will consider sticking my mortgage on Wolves getting auto promotion!

Reading will go up automatically, I think as champions- with either Blouse, us or Burnley.

I've been saying for some time now that I think Reading will win the league this season as I think they are most capable now of going on a very long winning run as they are that slightly more experienced than us. But if we add 1 or 2 in January we should be strong enough to hold off Birmingham or even a run from Burnley.

It a three horse race and anything could happen. None of those three will fade away imv - it will be neck and neck until the end of the season. If we strengthen with a couple of astute additions -a winger (Sinclair?) plus say Marvin Ellliott and Davies starts firing then I think we will go up as Champions. If not it will be very very close and Reading could pip us if we are unlucky on injuries to key players.

Birmingham will strengthen in January too so they will be right there come the end of the season too. But a seven and nine point cushion is handy at this stage. If we keep up the win ratio it will be very tough for them to make up the ground. It would take a sensational run from one or both of them and neither imv are that good.

My best guess for end season totals and places:

    1st Wolves 95pts
    2nd Reading 91pts
    3rd Birmingham 87 pts

Right, can nobody mention Marvin bloody Elliott as a possible signing for us, he is rubbish. Just one of those names that gets in fans heads and keeps cropping up like a few others in the past who are also not very good players.

The Key to Reading is whether they still have Doyle and Hunt on their books on Feb 1st.. If they dont then they will struggle to make the top 2 come May IMO.

I'll stick by what i said in August that 86 points will be enough for 2nd.

What a disappointing comment from a Wolves fan.

Reading had bad games as much as Wolves had and the table does not lie. Wolves are top of the league because they deserve to be there.

  12. Nothing will ever change the 'Wolves Mentality' of failure. Not until we're 4 points clear with 1 game left anyway... But you have to admit, currently, we're the team to beat.

    Reading will go up.

But the table doesn't lie. And at the moment, we're the best team in the division, therefore, we'll go up too. Now shut it you tarts ;)

All i'm saying is, performances haven't been great recently, but we're still top. Blues haven't played well all season and they're still up there. Atleast we know our team can turn on the style. If the best Blues have been all season was their first half performance against us - which according to their manager, it was - Then we have nothing to worry about.

Yes, Reading played well on Saturday and did a great job on Blues but priot to that they have been unconvincing. A series of 1-0 wins and a very fortunate late victory vs Norwich has made them look impressive.
Fact is they are no better than us and a lot of folk down here are more concerned with fending off Blues than catching us. That speaks volumes.

I agree that they are now our biggest rivals at the top but am confident they feel the same way about us as we do about them.

He was brilliant last season but has faded this season after missing the first couple of months through injury. Good back up/competition for Henry as, at his best, he is a fiery tackler and harrier and brings a lot of energy to the midfield. Imv a useful player to have around as long as he is not too expensive. We have been linked with him along with Portsmouth.

Agreed - ridiculously negative considering what has been achieved so far.

Interesting that the largest gap between teams next to each other is the 7 points that separate us from Reading - look down the table there isn;t more than one or two points separating teams apart from each other.....

Indeed, that's the second biggest gap in the English league - apart from Wycombe's 9 point gap at the top of League 2, although 2 teams have a game in hand on them.
(I'm not counting the clubs with points deductions)

However, I won't start believing until after we play Reading away. If we have at least a 4 point gap on them after that, then it truly is ours to throw away.
