Not bothering after last nights performance trying to get in.

  4. Seems like a much stronger team tonight, apart from possibly our forward line -

    ---------Vokes----Hemmings------
    Jarvis---Milijas---Edwards---Kightly
    Elokobi----Berra-----Zubar---Foley
    --------------Ikeme--------------

I would say there are 7 possible starters in there compared to last nights 3.

Perhaps we should ask Jack to do us a verdict now and save us all the hassle of going to the game.

Certainly looks like a probable back four for the prem anyway!

Dire game, but expected it. We started off ok, before Foyle and Beckford started to make Zubar and Berra look like the pair of misfits they are.

Went a goal down after Foley nodded into his own net, but responded well with the Serbian pulling the strings in the middle.

Like so many times last year, Vokes spared our blushes with a diving header in the last minute.

    Player ratings:

    Ikeme 7 - Steady as a rock

Foley 7 - Mr consistent apart from the own goal

Elokobi 9 - Real superstar peformance from the best left back since Lee Naylor.

Zubar - See Balde comment from last night

Berra 5 - Scottish, so don't really expect much from him

Kightly 7 - Great performance from our wing wizzard. One assist.

Edwards 5 - Runs around like a headless chicken

Mijas 8 - Cool, calm and collected. A modern day Prosinecki

Jarvis 6 - Beat his man every time and crossed the ball out every time.

Vokes 8 - Great header and held the ball up well. One for the future.

Hemmings 6 - Did ok, but could have done with better service from the left.

Good number of Wolves fans, who came close to outnumbering the home ones again.

Brilliant. I'd go with that....no mention of any injuries. In fact. Sod it, let's not actually play the game at all, just tell the media this is what happened!:D

I dont think Kightly will play, Elliot Bennet probably will as apart from the 2 keepers he was the only player in both squads and got no game time yesterday. Also maybe we may look at playing Vokes on his own with Edwards playing off him and another CM (dont know who though).

Looking forward to hear how Lee Collins does tonight, a few years ago ability wise he could of done better than a free transfer to Port Vale, attitude wise im not so sure!

(or possibly Ward being given a run out up front for a change)

I might risk getting the bus, I think it runs direct to Burslem from Alsager.

Daniel Wright is the keeper who saved 4 penalties the other night in Sweden

  23. Stephen Ward is playing central midfield! Is there any position that man can't play?!

  24. Is Milijas on the bench? He better not be injured.

I hope to god that aint true!! The one thing that scares me most about this season is McCarthys peverse desire to play people out of position. If he does we will be murdered, most of our squad are untested at this level and may well be not good enough in their rightful position, but out of position and they will definately be not good enough. Didnt he play Balde at right back in Aus? playing players out of position can destroy thier confidence (Stearman at right back and many other examples).
He is not the only manager to do this, it bemuses me every time. It may well be arrogance, 'i know better than you'. etc

I think it's just more a case of players getting game time and building their fitness levels etc. I can't imagine for one second MM thinks Ward will be a good option at CM.

He played a striker at left back fairly successfully last season,

I am fully aware of that, but he is a centre half. I have no idea why the Liecester manager thought he was a RB, i guess he had no one better. If you want a young player to develope quickly then you should not 'mess' around with them.
Lescott was played out of position at Everton initially (which was a crime) now he is playing at CH he is worth £30m.

Stearman could potentially play either - and could probably do a job in midfield in later life too. He's a very talented lad.

What is happening to our goalkeeping department. Hennessey played yesterday, but the other 2 Ikeme and Han. did not make an appearance. Are they both injured?

No he didnt, he played a striker at LB who 'coped' he was not a revelation just a very average LB.
I admire Ward for his willingness to the cause, but if he plays at LB this season he will be terrible to watch.
I imagine as i type this he has just scored
