    Nice thought and feel likewise.

Much as I give him some stick at times I do want Morgan to do well.

You could be hoping a long time then as he's always been very rich and he's never shown any inclination for giving the club any of his vast wealth.

He did invest 30 million quid into Wolves, after buying the club off Sir Jack for a tenner.

But I think you may mean after that initial investment, Wednesbury.

I am not sure what amount of money Steve Morgan has invested in Wolves since his takeover.

    A question often asked BW.

I genuinely believe after the £10 purchase he deposited the said £30M but how much has actually been spent I honestly have no idea.

I often wonder with the Sky money Wolves have taken in plus very healthy profits on several players how much of his own money has been spent.

The new 4 and 5 bedroom Redrow housing estate in Evesham looks absolutely terrific! But I'm not surprised he is making profit with the prices they go for!

I think they're about £600,000 maybe more but it's around that figure. So not mega expensive, but there is quite a few of them!

Ooh nice, we cant go through the usual route of the last result to have a pop at Morgan, $$$$ we won yesterday - Ooh its OK, I know, I have just found a completely unrelated and irrelevant article, this should do the trick. Classic.

Don't hold your breath ! He is a great CEO of Redrow. But customers have to get good value for a house. As for Wolves fans/customers we are captives for life ! :dong:

To be honest, I'm not looking for Morgan to put his hand in his pocket to buy us success.

With no offence meant to anyone, that's a very 90's view of how to run the club. We had a period of SJH buying players and rebuilding the ground out of his own pocket with no real business plan other than "let's be a big club." That was SJH's way, and he was a loveable eccentric. Jack Walker had a similar run at Blackburn -with much more initial success but they're in the same position as us now. I also don't think it's really down to us to judge Morgan based on what he chooses to spend his own personal money on.

At the start and end of each transfer window we'll see people calling for Morgan to "open his chequebook" or "put his hand in his pocket." That's not the way forward. We need to start scrutinising the club's finances, not the chairmans.
I want a Wolves that runs well as a club. A Wolves that self-generates transfer money. That uses the great new youth facillities -allied to an established track record of producing good players- to bring exciting talent through.

That's going to be the route that can make the club competitive and sustainable in the premier league.

With so many of the bomb squad now gone the club might be able to make quality signings without it having a worse impact on finances than what already was when the bomb squad remained?

The chairman's statement on home grown talent populating the first XI doesnt fill me with any great hope. Everybody has seen for the last 12 months we need better strikers and midfielders ...and cover at CB.. yet little has been done. Most players we are linked with are either from similar teams or League one.... typical Wolves I'm afraid ...so near but yet so far, no one is prepared to take a punt on what would admittably be risky speculation. With the new SKY ela though we simply have to be amongst it or face another God knows how many years in teh wilderness

Actually there needs to be periods of investment to get a good team up and running. In particular, the push for promotion from the /championship needs backing or it very rarely gets off the ground, (there are exceptions to this of course). This is likely to become more the case rather than less as parachute payments become ever more generous.

If a team can get promoted then there is the possibility of balancing the books, through the enormous increase in revenues, and the use of judicious sales. A difficult balance but possible.

Morgan's pie in the sky of getting promotion without putting money in and relying on cheap transfers plus the Academy is almost certainly doomed to fail. Given his pride he may have to reverse his position or face a club in decline again, but at the moment he is stubbornly backing what is close to a fantasy approach.

The team currently has only 2-3 proper back up players on the bench to a decent enough first team. A couple of injuries in the next few weeks and this season\s potential is lost. A couple of decent enough subs in Siguardsson and Clarke have been offloaded without being replaced.

It is all pretty scandalous to be honest.

I live in hope Rose but fully understand the points you make here. I seem to recall the club making comment that the cost of the bomb squad would not have any adverse effect on the manager bringing in new players.

Personally I never believed it from day one. Don't know the figures but I imagine give or take a bit the cost of RJ, JOH, Doyle, Ward and Foley were costing the club around £5M a year so how the hell could it not have an effect? I firmly believe those players, and not through their faults, were holding things back?

With all but Doyle now gone then I'm hoping the money freed up will give KJ a bit more scope and the coming weeks/months could reveal a lot?

Fully agreed and whilst in an ideal world Morgan's idea of a 1st team squad made up from the academy sounds great I fear it a bit make believe.

But do you think he should put his hand in his pocket to build the stadium and training facilities. Seeing as he owns these as hard assets.

Bomb squad gone and too much money to count.

Surely he will now sanction 2 or 3 quality loans.

I think you are right, NWW. I doubt Steve Morgan would divert a few million pounds from Redrow profits into Wolves coffers for new players.. It would be very nice if he could, hence my `ooh nice` comment in the OP. It is not that simple of course. But a healthy Redrow is surely good for Wolves, if our owner has no worries on that side, and his thoughts, as wanderer24 points outs, are focussed on WWFC.

No worries, I know you weren`t Stu. A couple of posters took my ooh nice comment the wrong way. When I read that Redrow had made a profit of £95m, I was dreaming perhaps, that SM could send a bit Wolves way. Or perhaps loan money to WWFC, and we pay it back in the Prem.. In reality, I know it is not on.
