I really thought he would be the type of player to be suited to the Premiership. I was glad when we sold him but i thought it was still a good deal for both clubs.

Im glad to be proved wrong as i hate Stoke but i do hope Olofinjana finds some form as i have a lot of respect for the guy.

'mick mccarthy must have been $$$$ing himself when we gave them 3m'

:D - perhaps Mick bigging him up all season was just part of the master plan?

I still think Seyi would be a good prem player if he was playing prem football in a prem team. Fact of the matter is he is playing with Stoke.

Have him back here on loan?

Not at all. He's gone at an over inflated price. Move on,he is not good enough. I don't want a player who plays one good game in 8-we need consistency, which is why we are where we are.

  7. "As a midfield player he seems unable to tackle or pass (either are clearly quintessential facets)"

This one is my favourite, although I would have gone for "both" rather than "either".

Id take Tom Soares for cover down the right or in the middle...and join him up with him old pal Watchon from Palace too...

  9. Good God No.

Even our 'over-run' midfield is better off without him. Henry plays 10 times better with Jones and/or Edwards, then he ever did with Seyi.

A Sunderland supporting friend of mine told me that they are interested in brining him to the north east during the Jan window.

That is a wind up post isn't it? Please tell me so. Seyi "One good game in 6" Olofinjana...lightweight in the air, powder puff in the tackle, built like Patrick Viera...played like Patrick Moore. I couldn't believe we got three million for him and I don't think I am being harsh in saying that the transfer fee was his most useful contribution that he ever made at Wolves.

So he'd only look good with top class players around him?

I think this season has finally exploded the Olofinjana myth. For too long some have said that he's ideally suited for premiership football rather than the Championship, but it doesn't look like he can cut it. He showed glimpses of quality but thats not enough. To get our money back and an extra 1.25 million on top was fantastic business.

Oli is a good midfielder and would do well in a Premiership team suited to his style. Stoke is NOT the team. I could see him flourishing in say a Fulham or West Ham team..

At least the Clayheads are not going to lose him halfway through the season to the African nations Cup & come back knackered (this season), like what happened to us!

For £3mill I was glad to see the back of him - good business :)

Just like he was with Leon Clarke y'mean?

    ---

    WOLVES 2
    Clarke 30, 73

    SHEFF WED 2
    Small 36, Brunt 53

MICK McCARTHY gave Leon Clarke a reality check after the striker rescued a point for Wolves.

The 21-year-old began and ended the scoring as Wolves found the net with two goals for only the second time this season. Clarke's brace was the first time he had scored twice and for Wolves boss McCarthy evidence of the youngster's talent.

But McCarthy reminded the striker he needs more than talent if he is to succeed.

McCarthy said: "Leon's got enough to be the best striker at the club.
"We're doing enough to make that happen. We need him to do that as well. You need desire to match talent."

3m quid for him was a great deal.

He was never going to work out at Clayhead central simply because he's a fairy.

I think the entire Wolves fan base was.

"I remember he played well against Villa, but since then nothing.
3 million seems an awful lot for what he's done so far."

He'll have another good match in 20 games time.

An interesting notion: player crashes and burns every where he goes, while seeing his value growing as each selling club recognizes that they weren't good enough for him.

On only a slightly different tack Man. City have just paid £10m/£12m for a reserve left back who only cost the selling club £5m/£6m.

If a player is that good, especially a midfielder, he'll flourish in any team. Seyi is barely good enough for the championship.

  23. I love the fact they think he'll be better in the championship. He might look good in Walsall's midfield but that's about it. One of the best deals McCarthy and Jez will ever do.

Guess you're not from Stafford then!:D

A player that has the physique to be good but the heart of a timid mouse. By all accounts a very nice bloke but that counts for nothing. Hopefully his signing will make Stoke think twice about spending in January and they can return to being a mid-table Championship club, or even better do a Leicester - it should come easily to them after all they spent 3 years in the 3rd tier in recent times!

Spot on, he's pretty on the ball and shows technical ability but little more than that. Thank god we got rid of him and the useless Nigerian. It's no coincidence that the team morale is a lot higher this year without him moaning to the press every 5 minutes, and it's no coincidence that Henry is a lot better without Seyi next to him!

Flattered to decieve throughout his time here. We got good money for him. He is an enigma though - always looks like he is about to come good but ........

No mate, it's the other stripey lot that bother me, clayheads, just clayheads a slight annoyance compared to that lot from sandwell - the other of our rivals keeping a place warm for us for next year

I dont think anyone on here could say seyi didnt have ability. He can pass, he can tackle and he is more than capable of scoring goals. Unfortunatly for him, he doesnt manage to put it all together often enough. When he is good, he is very good. When he isnt he is a waste of space really. Its like he either doesnt have the confidence in his own ability or he just doesnt have enough desire in his game.

It's difficult to shine in midfield when you're playing for a team like Stoke who bypass the middle of the park.

  37. Agreed he was way overpriced but at least he was full of effort and had a decent scoring record. He was a far better servant to Wolves than Olafinjina was.

He had a half decent scoring record, £5m is overpriced but he could at least justify that a bit. Olofinjana can't justify his £3m price tag at all.
