Was reading about the idiot Chelsea fans stopping that French guy from boarding the metro train in Paris on Tuesday night and it got me wondering: how do clubs actually ensure that these so called 'fans' are stopped from entering their ground indefinitely, once the culprits have been identified for whatever crime they have committed?

Police spotters. If you keep your head down its fairly easy to watch your team whilst on a ban.

A few I know on bans at Chester go and watch Everton/Liverpool. Unless they were to get in to any trouble with the police they won't have any issues.

They can't really, if somebody buys them a ticket they get in. As Chester says unless they get randomly spotted it's not really difficult. The only thing is for England games you have to hand your passport in at a local Police station.

Some of the higher up firm type of (former) thugs have radius orders banning them from the Town centre/Grounds etc also on matchdays.

The overwhelming majority of football banning orders now carry such. And the overwheming majority of offences in anyway linked to football carry such banning orders.

Are Gilly and his cronies still banned from the city centre?

I've seen plenty of banned fans at away games.

away games would be harder to do whilst banned than home.

you see the west mids police that travel to every away game and usually stand in the corner watching the away fans all game well they will know everyone on a ban.

Its more likely the people you see are no longer banned or just on an internal ban from Wolves themselves (which holds no legal weight and only really applies to Molineux)

The ones I have seen don't usually go to the game mate. I don't think they are there for the football lol.

I think it's all too easy for the Police and authorities to hand these banning orders out. Don't get me wrong some scumbags obviously deserve it but after reading some of the stories from FSF Fair Cop, it makes you wonder.

    Without doubt.

I know lads who've been given 3 year FBO's for a kick off in Chester City centre (the usual stuff you see in all towns on a saturday night, nothing to do with football), the fact they'd traveled to Oxford that day to watch Chester meant the police could apply for FBO's.

Agree, get arrested for drunk and disorderly at a football game and your banned for 3 years (minimum babnning order).

Do they ban people who cause trouble up town on a night from going within 3 miles of a nightclub 3 hours before and 3 hours after its opening times?

Not to mention these draconian measures are adopted even before you've been found guilty in a court of law! I know of someone who was arrested at Fulham this season (the league game) it neve even made it to a charge (once investigated by the police no further action was taken) but that took over a month. During that time he was on bail and could not attend any games (season ticket holder so wasted 2-3 games) or even go within 3 miles of Molineux 3 hours before and after a game.

I can't think of such measures being adopted towards no other section of society. But nobodies gonna stick up for football supporters are they! We're beneath the centre right politicions yobbo's who deserve what we get and we aren't a trendy enough minority for the protest left to get involved with.
