Seems to be our Achilles heel at the moment. hopefully we have Sako back for next week. Does the board think that we should line up with Sako and VLP on the flanks and Henry at ten with Edwards and Adobe on the bench.? I do sometimes wonder how we would be with Sako at ten and Henry out wide.

TBH if we could keep Sako, and keep him, Henry, Afobe, VLP and Dicko fit, then we still have a good shot of the play offs, but any one injury and we are starting to struggle for quality off the bench.

I also think it will be key rotating Evans, Price eand K Mac as our central midfield needs improvement, and if player safe not brought in will certainly need rotating game on game I feel.

I think Sako could play behind the striker, roaming around the final third. The opposition would need to keep a real close eye on him making space for others, and if he did receive the ball 20-30 yards out he's more than capable of picking a pass, or the top corner, quite reliably. You'd perhaps stifle his running though, less space for him to play into.

Freeman. A player we should have bought when he was at Stevenage.
Good player and just what we need.

If your looking for a good, cheap number 10....
Been looking out for Dundee United main player who scored the winning goal in semi finals today.

Skill and pace, Nadir Ciftic is his name.

Henry looks like a possible option as a no10, don't think he's good enough out wide as he lacks pace but in the middle he could be useful.

I was thinking the same after the game, I'd much rather us bring in one but if we can't Henry could be an option.

He's got the ability to beat a man, he gets goals and can shoot from outside the box, can pick a pass and he does work hard back for a wide player. His main strength though is his crossing which obviously would be negated somewhat playing in the middle.

I'd say its worth a go though see if he can adjust if we don't bring anyone in.

I wouldn't be adverse to HENRY getting a bit of game time at no 10. After that little beauty yesterday.

Would much prefer Mackay Steven. Reportedly available for 250k with 6 months left on his contract, screams our kind of signing!

Clubs can only do that for moves abroad, including Scotland to England, Celtic would have to wait until his contract expires to officially agree/sign one.

Dundee Utd seem pretty annoyed with Celtic's behaviour so may be tempted to accept even less just to do Celtic over.

There's absolutely no way we could better David Edwards in the number 10 role. Even signing a player who provides what Edwards does in that role would most likely cost us around £3 million.

In some ways, Edwards is one of the most under appreciated players we've had for the last decade or so - he reminds me a lot of Mark Rankine in that he had a bit of a shaky start and then came into his own, yet still had his fair share of detractors throughout all of his solid performances.

People seem to forget that he's been picked regularly by five different managers now and he's been a great servant for us - he had a better goals per game ratio than Kevin Doyle across all competitions in our final Premiership season and scored some vital goals throughout our time in the Premiership, including a winning goal against Manchester City.

I can't help but feel that if he was some exotic foreign player, or playing as he is for Derby at the moment, people would be screaming at Moxey to get him in...

As valuable as he is of course we could better Dave Edwards.

I'm not arguing against the fact that he could be bettered, but not with our current budget unfortunately and I also think there are higher priority areas of the team to focus on.

How many of our ex managers have come back for him? In fact has any club ever come in for him?

I think they'd be very different players in the role. I'd see Henry as a player to feed Edwards so to speak. That bit of guile to pick a pass. Also as I said on the other thread, hardly a novice is he so I don't see us losing every game he plays there by 7 goals! Give Henry a go, might work... might not.

That's it thought there has never even been any gossip. Even when we relegated to league one there was nothing even hinting at a move for him.

When you watch other teams with a skillfull creative ball player at No.10 it shows Edwards up for what he is, a hard working unskillfull player who gets a few goals. In our system we are crying out for an upgrade asap. Its a $$$$ poor league thats there for the taking and having Edwards in such a pivotal role is doing us very little. People go on about his goals but how many more could be created by a better player. A lot more I would suggest. Not slating Edwards but he is so limited in that role

i wouldnt say the number 10 is the weakest link imho its the two center midfield positions not enough creativity or goals, also very slow and not strong enough.

We have no real alternative to Edwards. When he is crap, which he can be quite frequently, who do we replace him with?
    Where is his real competition?
If we cant find a no10 what are our scouts doing?

In answer to you question, probably too busy on bob a job week, cleaning Morgan's car, or unloading Moxey's pies from the lorry.
