Chris Morgan has just been quoted as saying 'We can catch Wolves and Birmingham. We can give anyone a game'

How about' The top three have done very well and have been more consistant than the rest of us. We have to keep plugging away and hope that they slip up. They will take some catching but we will be busting a gut to catch them but equally I am sure their players will be aware of the chasing pack and be going all out to maintain the good starts they have made' The point is still the same, but it recognises the start the 3 of us have made and does give a bit of credit which has been sadly lacking in a few quarters.

They might, MIGHT just catch Blues. However even if they do, I'd imagine Reading will be beyond their grasp. I doubt both teams will screw up that badly.

And us?? Dream on, thug. We're outta reach.

Frankly if we were in their position and Karl henry came out and said anything other than he believed the top two could be caught and we were the team to do it, I'd be very disappointed.

If you look at it in another way.

    Record against teams above them.

    Wolves (H) 1-3 L
    Blues (A) 0-1 L
    Reading (H) 0-2 L
    Burnley (H) 2-3 L
    Cardiff (H) 0-0 D
    Preston (H) 1-0 W

We all know last season that failure to beat the majority of the team above you can end up in play off heart ache, we last season picked up 7pts out of a possible 36 against the 6 who finished above us, only beating Palace away, drawing at WBA, Stoke and Bristol City home and away.

With those set of results, 4 out of 18 isn't good Chris Morgan and you have to still go to 5 out of the 6 away from home!

    Its not automatic form!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said there has been a marked lack of credit from too many quarters-just another example.

You're still looking at the situation from our point of view, not theirs. The quotes are exactly what you'd expect from any team in a similar position.

  11. If anyone here was at the Sheffield United game they would have noticed that Wolves were extremely lucky to come away with a 3-1 win. Sheffield United had us under the cosh for virtually the entire game, created numerous chances and we simply scored 3 break-away goals. It could have been a draw, it could have also been a Sheff Utd win.

The point is, Wolves are not significantly better than Sheffield United. If we stop getting 'breaks' as McCarthy puts it and teams start putting their chances away against it, we'll be looking over our shoulders sharpish.

If someone was nerdy enough to trawl through the E&S from 12mth ago i reckon some of our players were saying exactly the same sort of thing.

    Let them talk.

Like I said earlier, yet another lack of credit being shown towards sides that have been better than his own.

Why should he be giving us credit when there's everything still to play for? There's plenty of time for that at the end of the season if we deserve it then.
Would you be expecting Wolves players to be giving the opposition credit if the positions were reversed?

To be honest i'd be more $$$$ed off as a Sheffield United fan than a Wolves fan by their players keep shouting off. Have they never heard of letting their football do the talking? I say let them keep it up, its not doing us any harm.

I'm pretty sure when we had players of a more similar pschological ilk they came out with similar statements. I'd go so far as to say our current squad could come out with statements like that of Morgan if the threat of McCarthy coming down on them like a ton of bricks didn't constantly loom large.

I think Morgan embarrasses himself and I'm happy for him to continue to do so.

11 points in nothing with over half the season to go and we have already proven that it is possible for a team to be better by 16 points over half a season and anyone who thinks we are much better than Sheffield United is in dreamland. Over the 1st half of the season we have been consistent but if we hit a 4 or 5 game losing run at the same time Sheffield United win 4 or 5 games on the trot that gap is all but gone.

If it was Richard Stearman saying that and we were 7th, 11pts off automatic promotion - apart from a wry knowing smile from the average Wolves fan I doubt anyone on here would be frothing at the mouth in mock indignation.

Another player from the team of thugs got sent off for use of the elbow. Doesn`t surprise me, the manager is from dirty Leeds Utd!

  20. They got words, we got points. I'm happy with that.

Folk are too easily offended for my liking, why should we dictate what players can and can't say?! It's refreshing to hear so many players and managers shouting the odds, rather than playing the diplomats.

Yet again, people seem to be getting paranoid about what other players and managers are saying. It was what the Barnsley manager was saying on saturday, today it's Morgan. As Mutchy said if we were in Sheff Utd's position it would be exactly what I would expect our players to be saying. In fact I seem to remember Karl Henry saying similar things last season. It means sod all - as last season demonstrated

It's credit to McCarthy that none of our players are shouting from the roof tops about how well we are doing, you'll notice that Reading's players are keeping their mouths firmly shut as well yet you have jokers like Cameron Jerome and Greg Halford saying Birmingham/Sheffield United have the best squad by a "million miles". I think there was an article on WOW last week after the Derby match with SEB saying we're doing our talking on the football pitch rather than in the papers and that is the way it should be.

It's interesting to see that two managers who have been there and done it (Mick and Coppell) are managing to keep all of their player's emotions under control yet McLeish and Blackwell are seemingly struggling.
