Absolutely fantastic result. Feel really pleased for the boys and KJ who, despite popular belief, isn't massively out of his depth here.

Is 4-4-2 the way to go now? RVLP, Sako, Afobe and Dicko all scoring or creating a goal...

I said when those 4 'click' it would be frightening. So much pant wetting on here last few weeks I'm delighted we've put a team to the sword.

    Jackett knows what he's doing.

Without signing a proper no.10 it looks that way.

I'd be interested to hear from those who went if it was a 442 or Dicko or Afobe behind the other.

    Was it more like 4-2-4
Great result but Huddersfield had 31 shots with 13 on target !!!!!!! Were we that open ?

I can see it now - play two forwards, score a few in next couple of games then one of them is injured and we turn to ...

Just goes to show that nobody can accurately predict football, just support the team and criticise (if applicable) afterwards! and have some perspective!

People who overreact to one win aren't much better than those that many of you have quoted to be honest.

Yes, he's made some mistakes along the way (and will continue to do so) but overall the job he has done here is outstanding. He's building a young, talented squad which will suffer from inconsistency but with a core of Iorfa, Stearman, Golbourne, Sako (hopefully), Afobe and Dicko, we are heading in the right direction.

The comments about him being out of his depth are a bit too harsh in my opinion, especially given that McCarthy (who people say is 'The Master' in this division) only has 6 points more despite having had an extra 18 months in this League with Ipswich. He also did a superior job to another 'top Championship Manager' in Holloway at Millwall on the same limited resources.

Will he take us up? The statistics suggest probably not but his record here so far is superb and means he is deserving of far more time and patience to try and get us there.

Agreed. I think the two sides we have the best chance of catching are Ipswich and Brentford. Watford have so much strength in depth and firepower that we'd be doing incredibly well to overtake them.

I've found the negativity and criticisms as of late rather bizarre. If you take into consideration our recent woes, we're coming along nicely under KJ.

It took Mick three seasons and a wad of cash to build a strong team capable of going up. I think this time scale is realistic in regards to KJ completing the rebuild.

In the meantime, it's good to see the young players who've come through the academy making their way into the game.

I'd agree with that yes. Middlesbrough will win the league IMO with Derby as Runners Up. I still don't think Bournemouth will keep it up but they keep proving Me wrong.

I still maintain our bench is pretty $$$$ at the moment.
    No need for three defenders.
We need another pacey forward on there.

    Smug ay ya ;)

To be fair, and I am not saying this to kind of defend or mask what I said on page 1 of the comms thread as I have re-quoted what a $$$$ I made myself look - but we did ride our luck today, 41 shots on goal today and only 10 were ours, we will not get away with that every game, especially baring in mind it was only Huddersfield so no it certainly isn't a case of the front four simply "clicking".

He's tripped and stumbled over this line up as her ran out of options and it's favoured him. Now Kenny, work on this team and its ethos and you won't do yourself any harm! He's still out of his depth imo but this squad as I've said all along is good enough for PO they just needed to play to their strengths.

Absolutely chuffed to bits. However, slightly nervous in case we let Norwich have 31 pops at goal. Still if we walk away on Saturday with 3 points, they can have as many shots as they wish.

think we need to relook at the whole clickety click we thought went on tues that many thought was going to see us romp the league.

We got away with it then. Huddersfield are not a great side and even they generally speaking had the better of it, we just took advantage of there woes infront of goal/TK keeping us in it and to our credit broke well. Today was not the case, we came up against a good side with better players who can exploit those gaps.

At times today Kevin McDonald was our only midfield player. Jack Price got completely eaten up. We were completely at utterly exposed and overrun in midfield. I go back to my initial comments in KJ trying to shoehorn yet another centre forward into a AM role is not going to work and strike the balance he wants. Tactically at times KJ shows real lack of nous, today was one.

We can only play Afobe and Dicko in the same side if we have a TOP midfield, which I think we have established for some years now we do not - or look to change our formation, perhaps 3-5-2.

Talk of play-offs IMO is too much at this stage. We do not have the squad good enough and unfortunately we are going to be coming up against sides of similar quality to Norwich who will pick us off. There were shades of Derby/Brentford away this afternoon. Going away to Cardiff, Bournemouth, Boro.. If we set up similar as Tuesday/today we will be in for a similar performance result I am afraid. It may well work on Saturday at home, but definatly not in away games, particularly the way Kenny asks the team to sit off which is something I have left out - Christ we sat off so much today and let them play.

Nothing has changed. We're a bang average championship team in need of investment to kick on for next season. We'll win some and we'll lose some. That's what bang average clubs do.

As a starting line up I think it's afobe or dicko
Play both after an hour, but as a set up one striker works best and for me that's Dicko.

    Next week is huge.

Believe Brentford play Bournemouth and Watford v Norwich.

Two home wins in our next two games (big ask I know after recent home performances) would put us right back in the mix.

Why is it called shoe-horning or square pegs in round holes when Wolves bosses do it but modern day footballers being adaptable whenever other team's managers do it? Van Gaal's not described as being tactically inept for playing Rooney in a withdrawn forward role for example

    Problems are

    Jacketts to stubborn in favouritism
Centre midfield is one of worst in division
We have two strikers at the club
We effectivly have six subs as Jacobs never ever comes on
    Our squad is wafer thin
    Were boring and predicatable

This is not over the top due defeat it's common sense

We will get by odd games as were midtable side
We will finish midtable which is good season tbf coming up

But end of day we've missed a massive chance, only 3-4 sides are superior then there is a massive level ground

We aren't that bad and we aren't that good.
Mid table is the likely reality and I think that was always a realistic aim at the start of the season. Think where we were, think how young our squad is, this is a tough tough league everyone.
So I'm not panicking or equally getting carried away when we have a good run.
Play offs are still an outside chance, but mid table, build, more experience for our youth and kick on next season is the realistic and pragmatic way forward.

We have a squad full of improving players (iorfa, hause, batth, price, evans, afobe, VLP,) the futures bright, it just might require a little more time

Because Van Gaal does it with top quality footballers like Wayne Rooney. Wolves do it with very average footballers.

    Who are Jackett's favourites?

The only ones who haven't been dropped/rotated at some point this year are Ikeme, Baath and Sako.

If you're referring to the likes of Ricketts, Henry and Edwards, I don't think you can say he has been too stubborn in shoehorning them into the side.

I do agree with your points about the squad depth though.

Yes he is. He gets loads of critisism. Rooney playing deep was one of the talking points on soccer Saturday before the 3pm kick offs and he was getting taken to the cleaners.
