McCarthy spotted with Niall Quinn - yeah right

According to Football Rumour $$$$$$$$, a secret meeting happened a week ago - I'd give this rumour a big fat zero in credibility - but here it is anyway -

Mick McCarthy is a done deal. He`s going to be re–appointed Sunderland Manager. I know Mick and he is very happy at wolves but he cant turn down the chance to return to premiership football. I even have a photo of McCarthy on a secret meeting with Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn on 4th december 2008 at a bar in ireland. I also know who he`s transfer targets are and can reveal he has drawn up a huge wishlist of players he wants. He has also agreed to sign Robert Green/scott parker in a double deal from west ham for 8 £million with Anton Ferdinand returning to West Ham.

Stranger appointments have been made this season - it wouldn't be a bad move for either party.*

*Though I think - and hope - that it's balls.

Yeah, and here in Cov people are bricking it for when he comes in to take free-scoring Freddie up up & away to the Prem with him.

Crocos - where are you - I'm working in the Canal Basin.

City fans seem to think Fox wouldn't move to a smaller club like Wolves, deluded fools!

This is where the story dies imo.

Firstly no manager would draw up a transfer wish list before even taking a training session. Secondly Anton Ferdinand has been one keane's few good signings out of all the dross he bought.

Here is the leaked photo of them clinching the deal. Mick looked a lot happier about it than Quinny.

Wouldn't they? No potential manager during interview stage, sitting down with the chairman and board and discuss what both parties want for the club, what resources there are available and ensure both parties are moving in the same direction and working within their limitations?'

Accrington Stanleys new manager has two weeks training with his new team, sits down with his chairman 'I have assessed the squad, and believe that Kaka and Messi, would add creativity, I think Terry would help shore up the defence, and we really need a striker in the Wayne Rooney mold. You do have £200million for me to spend, right?

Probably a load of the usual, although it would be hardly surprising that the CEO of any Club would be sounding out one of the best Managers in British football who has worked wonders at his present Club.

Who has the better chance of being in the premier league next season? :)

  14. For $$$$ sake, i wish i could get paid for coming up with complete and utter gash like this.

"erm. Mick is Irish and his Wolves team are doing well. Niall is Irish too and they used to work together in the Rep Of Ireland squad... Sunderland need a manager, so lets put out a story saying they were having a meeting about Mick going back - I'm a genius!!"

FFS. Utter pap. 'Stories' like this really wind me up.

Didn't we sign Gary Breen the day before McCarthy signed?

Yes they would discuss all of those things but a manager wouldnt walk into a job interview and say im going to buy Green and Parker for £8m and give them back ferdinand, Is that ok Mr Quinn? According to this rumour MM has already started to spend Sunderlands money :D

They would discuss what resources the club have at their disposal and then he would spend a few weeks with the club to see where improvement is needed most. Imagine if he did buy Green and Parker and sold ferdinand and then realised he didnt need another keeper ( they already have 2 good keepers) couldnt not find a place for Parker and was then short of cover at the abck after selling his best defender.

As for your second paragraph i dont see the logic in commenting about a lower league sides new manager saying he wants Kaka, Messi, Terry and Rooney as a very good arguement to back up your coments for this debate.

Yes but the deal was set up by the club not the soon to be arriving manager. We asked MM if he would be interested in having him in his squad and he gave the deal the ok.

Lets face it, it was a free transfer MM knew we hardly had any players and had just lost Lescott. He knew Breen well and rated him highly.

then you get wound up too easily. If it makes you feel any better, go onto the same site and come up with some fantastical tales of your own involving Tony Mowbray and Blackburn, etc. Actually, I might see if I can have a go at it myself later!

  19. Exactly. As has been said, stranger things have happened. But Mick is happy here, and would surely love to see the team he has built from scratch get promoted in 6 months, rather than fight to keep a club in termoil in the Premiership

    Absolutely.

I couldn't see Mick walking away from the huge glory he possibly has round the corner for the sinking ship that is Sunderland.

    Wouldn't make sense.

It was an extreme and unrealistic hypothetic example, fair enough.

What you have said here, is far more accurate than the blanket of no manager would ever draw up a transfer wish list before they had seen training.

Every manager will have some idea of the squad he is about to inherit, like you have suggested with our own MM. Every manager will have their own idea of players they would like to sign, in every transfer bracket, for any typical given club situation. At least a rough idea, which can then be tinkered to the specific club, inherited squad in question and availability of said players at that time.

But I think we are singing from the same hymn sheet now :D

What a difference 18 months makes. Rememebr the South Korea shenanigans, some of us couldn't wait to get rid of him then.

Mick to Sunderland to be replaced at Molineux by Paul Ince. That would make the majority of Wolves fans happy ......................

A tame one to get off and running with...

I have it on excellent authority that Tony Mowbray has had official discussions with Blackburn Rovers regarding the soon-to-be vacant post at Ewood Park. The BRFC board feel that Mr Mowbray would be the ideal replacement for Paul Ince, as he is more equipped with a relegation dogfight, along with Mr Mowbray believing that keeping WBA up may be a lost cause.

Can't believe this has even made a story. I've put countless nonsensical stories on here about reading, derby and whoever else i fancied winding up at that time and it all gets printed....i think i once commented ndah to real was a done deal as soon as he reached full fitness, it's just a sounding board for morons. And me.
