Back to Fleetwood for the rest of the season.
    End of the road methinks.

It's a good move to be honest, he has had two loans and both times doing ok only for us to cut the loans short. Hopefully he can get a protracted run in the team.

I may be overly optimistic but we do seem to be making room in the squad, surely it must be for new additions.

He may still come good and I hope so. He has more of a chance of making it at our current level than Cassidy, that's for sure.

Much needed loan for him. Hopefully he can get a long run in their side now and do the business.

It hasn't helped that every time he looked like doing the business out on loan we've brought him back and pretty much halted his progress.

Good move. Far too early to write him off, needs a good run of games first.

Hopefully it means we're bringing in another striker so we won't need to cut it short.

Cassidy isn't no, but he's shown that really with his loan spells and games in our first team.

Cassidy's approaching 100 games, McAlinden's barely had quarter of that.

We still have Clark and Doyle as back-up Sedge! Hopefully that will change soon.

Cassidy gone now. To Southend onloan. Send Doyle and Clarke out now and get in another striker and Lingard and this window would be a massive success.

Surely it's last chance saloon for Liam now. If he doesn't come back a vastly improved player we need to ask why we're persevering with him.

Only a year ago he was linked with a move to Everton (apparently)
I think he has something about him but he needs to be playing regularly to develop. Don't write the lad off so young

I doubt he'll ever shine in a wolves shirt. Just can't see what he has to offer. Wish him all the best though.

I think we are reluctant to let McAlinden or Cassidy go until we are certain they're not late developers like we did with Vokes, although in the case of the latter he showed more than either of the above in the Chamoonship when he first came to us but was behind SEB and Ilewumo so didn't get a chance then and was then behind Doyle and Fletcher in the prem.

As everyone else says, leave him there and give him a solid run of games. The back and forth won't be helping his development.

Hasn't really looked good enough when I've seen him. But he still has age on his side. I hope he can turn it around.

Has he already gone or do you think he might be able to cadge a lift up there with tomorrow's visitors after the game?

    Good luck Liam

Not sure why we brought him back when we did. He'd only played a couple for Fleetwood. The lad needs to stay there until the end of the season, then work with a lower Championship team next year.

It's all about confidence, and i do believe he can make it. Good luck to him.

For me though a key difference with Vokes was that in our promotion season he did still manage to chip in with quite a few important goals and demonstrate that he could offer us something that could be built upon. We moved Vokes on as we'd started to establish ourselves in the PL (or so we thought) and he didn't look the part. Selling him also facilitated Burnley releasing Fletcher to us.

Cassidy was extremely poor for us last season and in a lower division,he needs to be moved on. Even allowing for his age, for me the guy hasn't shown a single thing of note in a Wolves shirt and we can't persevere for ever with a player who doesn't offer us anything.

McAlinden, still young & scored that winner for us away at MK. He's a few cameos where he's come on a sub and at least carved a few efforts on goal. Does still look lightweight on the occassions he has started though. He's had a few seasons now at being loaned out to lower division clubs so ideally he would be in a position to pushing for a place in the first by now. However he still finds himself behind Leon Clarke in the pecking order, who has far from turned up any trees. If he's not in & around our team by the end of next season at the latest then he needs to be moved on. Unfortunatley, my gut feel is that he won't make it with us.

Of course us being out of both Cup competitions meaning less chances for game-time means we might as well send our fringe players out on loan now

Cassidy scored goals in a relatively short spell at Tranmere, but has done nothing since really. He didn't look up to League 1 level last season. At least Macca has shown glimpses of being half decent, but he has not really had he same chances as Cassidy.

My only concern is McAlinden can play wide left and we are weak in this area with Sako not here.
Must be a signing coming in for this position I would have thought?

#wwfc McAlinden and Cassidy's respective moves to Fleetwood and Southend are loans until the end of the season with no recall option.

So I'm assuming there JOS that we'll be bringing someone in who can cover the wide areas, unless they feel Eusebio/Graham/Hunte may provide this (which I doubt to be honest).

Wonder how it is that Southampton seem to churn out young players and integrate into a first team whereas Wolves seem to struggle.

To be fair over the last year and a bit

    Batth
    Doherty
    Iorfa
    Hause
    Price
    Evans

    To a lesser extent
    McCarey
    Ebanks-Landell

    We're getting there.

Good luck to the lad. The constant back and forth and lack of game time hasn't helped him much.

I believe given a run of games he will show his worth in Div 1, get his confidence back and score goals. Way ahead of Cassidy it seems and if given time and patience could still break through with us. So an ideal move and let's take another look at him in a year's time at which point it will become much clearer whether he can make the jump or not. Those writing him off at age 20 know very little about football imv.

I don't think it is a question of whether they know anything about football because that is a very subjective comment.
It is more to do with what attributes he brings to compete at this level.
Pace? Power? Trickery?Presence?Goal poacher? Bustling style? At this moment he doesn't tick those boxes merely the Potential one.Let us hope we are not saying the same in 12 months .

Every club asks themselves the question of "how do Southampton do it but we can't?"...
