    Wow. Wow wow wow wow.

They want to be Wolves so badly. Get a foreign coach in with a bunch of big money Portuguese signings. Have an underwhelming first half of the season. Sack foreign manager and bring in dinosaur Brit to see the season out. Why not just appoint someone good? They're not out of reach for the playoffs. And why is Martin O'Neill getting another job?

Will be interesting that's for sure. Will Keane come with him? His first English club.

Poor Forest... They were apparently considering Jokanovic, but end up with O'Neill... Wow.

Will be very interested to see how this works out. Probably end up ruining his reputation at Forest. Hope he brings Roy along to make it a double.

Shocking appointment. O'Neill is at least ten years past his sell by date and Forest have gone the foreign route with their latest round of investment.

They could end up showing us how we'd be had it all gone wrong

A very good manager, I think he'll do well in the Championship, past his best probably but then again Warnock looked to be on his way out a few years ago and is now at his best at 70. Did superbly to get Ireland to the Euro's and a World Cup playoff with possibly the worst group of Irish players in my lifetime.

He did well at Leicester, 20 odd years ago. Just looks like a lack of imagination from Forest if they go with O'Neill. There's a whole world out there with a young dynamic talented coach just waiting for an opportunity to show what he can do.

I barely even think it's funny at this point. Forest are a huge club and they deserve so much better. What the **** are they doing? Jeeeez

Really looking forward to see how this pans out.

Forest will be looking for a new manager this summer is my prediction.

    Doherty "
"Everyone thinks there wasn’t a game plan every time, that’s not entirely true. Sometimes there was, sometimes it was less clear.
"Compared to the set-up I have at Wolves, where we have a lot of Portuguese coaches, you could class it as old-school. When you were away with Ireland, you didn’t really have that much coaching. It was more of five-a-side, or 11-a-side game, and that would be it.
“The day before a game you would do a few set-pieces here and there and then go into the game. You are kind of thinking to yourself, ‘what shape are we going to play?’"
"You’d have a few players thinking 'we’ll play this shape', or someone else thinking something else. You can’t have that, especially at international football, people not really sure on what their role is the next day.
“It is bizarre, but like I said, it didn’t happen all the time. There were odd occasions when it did happen."

Game has changed massively in the past 20 years yet dinosaurs like O'Neill
can stil get a job at a rather high profile club like Forest, even after underperforming for years.

Also, appearently they went from chasing Jokanovic to going for O'Neill. Talk about lack of overall leaderhip and vision for the club..

Well that's forest soon to be in line for a FFP investigation then.

Funnily enough I saw a great O'Neill goal on The Big Match Revisited at the weekend from 35 years ago.

I would have liked him and his ‘dinosaur’ football in the 90s, had he won us 2 league cups and got us into Europe. He was great then, not so sure now.

It's like going through your wardrobe and digging out a pair of 52 inch flared Oxford bags.
They looked good in the 70s but there is a reason people don't wear them now.
    Massively out of date.

I can’t help thinking that O’Neill was a very nice guy that football management has turned into a paranoid waspish individual who visibly bristles on the approach of any kind of awkward questioning!!!

His courting of the divisive Keane as an Assistant for ROI was an unbelievably bad decision!

He's not a Brit but he is a dinosaur. Glad to see the back of him though I'm not sure McCarthy is the way forward either, at least Mick is pleasant where O'Neill is a dour ****er

I'm convinced the FAI put Keane in there for commercial reasons, but my theory might be disproved if he rocks up at Forest with MON. I'd be surprised though.

I don't mind him, theres not many characters in the game and he is one. I find his antics to be quite amusing.
Wouldn't want him at Wolves but 15-20 years ago i certainly would of.
Dinosaur manager? Well can't play total football with current Irish squad so i don't know what people really expected. Karanka's football was probably dinosaur level but has an exotic name so people don't associate him with it.

I agree with every word. Such a shame as I loved Martin in his earlier days both as a player and manager. I once met a Burton fan who used to clean Linekers boots at Leicester who had a great tale about Martin. But I'll reserve that for a pint and a quiet corner.
As for the Roy v Mick saga that divided a nation. I had loads and lack of time for both of them in equal measures :). I have a feeling that Roy will be rocking up at the City ground rather than the Aviva :)
