Not the right place to put this, but not worthy of a new thread.

Kalac is on the bench for AC Milan, the goalie we signed in the Prem but then couldn't get a work permit for. I know nothing about him apart from recognising the name, but with all the talk of 'what if Murray had been fit that year', what if we had got him??? He must be good to still be there...

You are thinking of Carlos Kameni.

We "signed" Kalac back in 1996. Except we didn't sign him, the FA just chose to believe Leicester despite there being no evidence to suggest that we'd agreed to do so.

Carlos Kameni was the keeper we signed but couldn't get a work permit for. We'd have stayed up with him in goal, he is world class.

Kalac is dreadful by the way, I wouldn't swap him for Ikeme.

Isn't Kameni at a Champions League club at the moment?

Big time European club at least.

Against club policy. They only sign from Mexican clubs (and one in particular:mad:) these days.

Who did we sign as a goalie short term in the prem season?
Very tall lad with black hair. My lad got his signature at the players entrance (possibly before the Everton home game).
    Any help?

Kalac is/was a decent squad player to have at Milan. He played quite a few games last season with Dida's various problems and never played that badly.

Christian Abbiati is back this season so Kalac has been relegated to 3rd choice and hasn't even made the bench in any of the league games.

We've been giving the squad players a chance in the UEFA cup which is why Kalac would have been on the bench.

And for people mentioning the pink boots which players are now wearing, they're actually "berry".

Yeah. To be fair, the lad was going anyway; he was a free agent before the World Cup and signed a new contract under the proviso that we'd sell if an offer came in from Europe. PSV had already made a low offer and it had turned his head, and our local rivals were busy destabilizing him, too.

When they signed Diego Colotto this summer, though, on the last day of the European transfer window, it effectively ended our season after three games. He was the captain and anchor of the centre of defence and the domestic transfer window had closed weeks before. We could have signed another foreigner but it would have taken him at least five or six games to get up to speed. I suppose you could blame Atlas for selling, but their official line is that they don't want to stand in the way of players' careers. Perhaps I'm being a little naive in accepting their word for that.
