Managed to swing a couple of tickets for this. Never been before.
If match is on the monday, due to kick off times, i was planning on driving up.
Is it easy to get to/park?
    Thanks in advance.

Traffic is usually a nightmare around Manchester in the evening. Especially the M60. Be conservative with your estimates, then add an hour. Best to park in town.

It’s an absolute nightmare. When we played them in the cup last year it took me nearly 5 hours to get back to Birmingham... I don’t think it’s usually that bad but still.

If possible get the tram/metro. It’s brilliant. Goes to the Etihad ‘Campus’ from Piccadilly. Stood next to Jason Manford last time!

There’s usually a late national express coach if that helps.

Don’t plan to be back before 2am though! We drove and it was 3:30am when we got back last season. Getting up for work the next day was fun!

The ground is walkable from the centre of town if you don’t fancy the tram (they’re usually rammed), only about 20 mins.

If you aren’t working definitely try and get there before 5 when the traffic gets mental. Alternatively, I’ve never done it, but always debated about parking in Stockport or Crewe. There are later trains back there.

Used the tram in from Altrincham for the Old Trafford game so certainly considering the option of the line from Ashton. Does that work as well as the other end?

Ashton Moss has free parking and only about 15 minutes on the tram. Two minutes from M60 too.

Forgot to add- only ball ache of that can be the queue for the tram after the match. Would be worth walking past Asda and flagging a cab to get back to the car. Will only be about £7.00-£10.00.

Cheers for the advice, I was surprised at Old Trafford, probably waited about 20 mins for the third tram to arrive having been pretty much the last out of the ground, I've certainly waited longer in car parks after a game (never using Westfield again  !!!)

If you’re driving you want to leave well before 3pm if you intend on being there for kickoff.

Last season we all booked an apartment & took 1.5 days leave. Can’t see us doing that again.

It's easily walkable from the city centre.

Trying to get away from the place on the tram is an absolute nightmare after the game unless you leave early.

Also would advise that traffic on evening match days in Manchester is even worse at the minute because of some significant road works in and around the city centre on some major roads. Everything, going everywhere, is taking a lot longer!!! So after the joys of the M6 the city is a crawl on a evening at the minute.

Apologies for your experience in advance.

Of the suggestions put out there I think parking at a train station to the south of the city and getting a train in and out of pic offers you the best chance. I would advice walking from pic to the ground however all train tickets to the major train stations give you free use on the city zone of the tram (I can’t remember if etihad is within that though).

My daughter has arranged corporate sponsorship so for the first time ever I will be with the prawn sandwich brigade. It is a real problem getting a tram after the game, you might consider leaving 5 or 10 minutes early if in a hurry to get home, did that at the cup match last season but missed the penalty shoot-out thankfully!

Park on the Tesco opposite the ground. Not a quick getaway though.

Just for clarity, train tickets do not get you access to the tram! 100%

Both Manchester grounds are a bit of a nightmare for away fans tbh. If driving then would suggest pitching up near a tram stop and getting on for the last part of the journey. Ashton Moss is a good shout. Haven’t checked return times but if they are on wound suggest best bet is train to Piccadilly and then tram or bus from there. You can walk but it’s not quite as simple or near as some as making out, especially if it’s ****in down which it pretty much always does up here!

Personally gonna get into town for mid afternoon and then probably get a taxi over towards to the stadium just before KO.

    Two levels, ground and lower.

Ground is great atmosphere, and the players walk in past you. Ex players, guest speakers and do provide entertainment.
Lower is more formal with fine dining and a sommelier, when the players line up to enter the pitch (or leave afterwards, the only thing separating you is a glass wall). I prefer ground but both are great.
Wherever you are in the ground, City do it incredibly well. You’ll love it.

Park and Ride at Ashton Under Lyne. The links to the motorway are good. You'll get stuck on the tram after the game which ever route you pick.

Parked on the big carpark over the footbridge previous visits - H&G on the map below - learned after the first time to take some sandwiches, a drink & a book then tune the local radio in as it's a loooooong wait to get off after the match
    Etihad Campus Site map.jpg
also a nice section on the Man City website on how to get to the ground - Visiting the Etihad Stadium

Northern Quarter for those after a pre match booze up. On the edge of Piccadilly Station and 10/15 minutes walk to Etihad.

Tickets are now on general sale in the home seats. There doesn’t appear to be any need for previous history. Prices from £46 to £59 though.

So there are around 150 tickets left now to people with 1020 loyalty points or more

That means if you went to the Villereal friendly & Leicester League Cup game - you can get a ticket to see Wolves face the Champions away....

Say it quietly - I think the loyalty system works...

Tbh i think the fact no one can plan anything yet, as kick off date could change is probably why it hasnt sold out yet?

I drove up last year for the cup game. The roads were bad after the game due to a fire not far away from the ground so some parts were shut off to traffic. I parked on the Man City car park, it’s huge and only cost about a fiver. If you use this, just ensure you park near one of the exits to get off quick! Also expect a barrage of abuse, had some youths spitting on the floor in front of us and calling me and my 14 year old daughter pigs! She just laughed at them and sang “were top of the league”

Bit of a nightmare on park and ride last season in cup, missed last metro back to park and ride due to extra time and sheltered in pub after game. Ended up getting a taxi back to car, turned out an expensive evening. If only Bright scored late on.

But the easiest thing to do is park and ride I think especially without extra time:oops:

We are contemplating leaving car in Stockport and train into piccadilly with couple cans for walk up or metro to Ashton Moss
Suppose depends if its Monday or Sunday

If Sunday, will train Wolves to Manchester - Easy
