Cheltenham Keeper Shane Higgs in December 31st
Mark Davies to Leicester January 1st
Ikeme struggling for Saturday then.
Good move for Davies, time to get some football for him
Shane Higgs can't get a game for Cheltenham at the moment. At least he is only cover. Good move for Mark Davies.
Good news for Davies- thought we could have done better than Cheltenham's reserve goalkeeper even if its only a short term measure.
Shane Higgs moves on a one month loan with a view to a permanent move.
Are these the dates that the loans end? Someone rumoured Leicester for Davies, hope it's not permanent.
Place on the bench if Ikeme struggles to be fit, doubt he will get near the 1st team after that. Here as 3rd choice for a month.
Would be hard to get a keeper from a higher or similar level to be 3rd choice.
Yes, both one month loans according to the web articles.
Yes, the loan window closes today.
Davies won't be going there permanently, not yet, anyway. He has to prove that he can play football week in, week out - if he does well, it'll more or less guarantee that he'll get a new deal in the summer, if he misses a load of games either through injury or the bouts of "illness" which seem to rule him out of a huge number of reserve games, he may well be cast aside.
It won't be. He needs first team football
Doesn't make sense when we already have three goalkeepers? Albeit one is injury prone.
Murray out for at least 6 months. We may well see him on a deal till the end of the season.
You can forget Murray, so our third choice as of this morning was a second year scholar (Richard Woolley, as Billy Lumley was released in the summer).
Makes sense. Little outlay in terms of transfer fee and wages and a competent, experienced third choice.
On a totally unrelated note, I noticed that Lewis Solly played for Stourbridge against us on Tuesday.
We were linked with Higgs in the summer. Good experienced keeper, let's get behind him although I doubt we'll even see him play for a while.
Could be ominous that it mentions the keeper is "with view to a permanent"..
Means Hennesey is off or Murray is finished IMO
I highly doubt Hennessey is off, or has ever been off.
It means Murray is out until 2010 and we need a third choice keeper.
Clubs can usually get special dispensation to loan a goalkeeper if they were down to one so I find it a little perplexing we are paying his wages to be a 3rd choice.
No decent young keeper would want to come here (just because of the competition) so maybe not suprising that this guy is the only one we could get with a view to permanent...
I don't think we would get special dispensation in this case, as we were clearly aware that Murray is gone for the season and Ikeme had an injury prior to the closure of the window. Plus we may well need Higgs to sit on the bench on Saturday.
I hardly think we'll be paying him a king's ransom.
I wouldn't want Nigel Pearson doing any DIY on my place as he obviously uses very soft nails...
i think he means as a player when fit - in those circumstances he is hard as nails.
In the spirit of getting in at the ground floor and learning from the signings of Kightly, Ward (S), Iwelumo and Henry (sorry if I missed any...
Finally we've signed a keeper with some talent and potential in Shane Higgs. What a true professional, the vaste number of times I've seen him (Once in woolies) he looked good, not the finished artical but packed with potential and talent.
Who else could sit on the bench at Chel-ten-ham or somesuch week in week out and not have potential. My god another shrewd and inspired signing that I for one and been screaming for (privately) for some time.
Well done Mick, Jez, Steve, My parents and god.
You're a prat. Thanks for coming.
I heard the Buffon deal fell through at the last minute, sorry.
Actually I've been around for many a good year but don't post much hence 'Newbie'. Can't think why I don't post much must be indifference or the natives.
Could you carry on not posting? Cheers.
Blud, its a loan signing for a temp 3rd choice keepa.
R U STUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIDDDD?
Scratch indifference its definately the natives. Reminds me why I left the midlands.
Could you leave the internet?
I cant help but think there may be many potentially worthwhile posters who we will never read because of the mindless rudeness that is prevalent in this forum...
Good move for Davies, it might keep him out of Walsalls bars every sat night.
Leicester's will be a nice change for him!
The Davies deal will only be a loan move. Wolves will hang on to him now seeing as the FA are introducing the 4 home grown team members rule!
Quite surprised they have given him permission to play in Leicester FA cup game!
What's your point, I'm lost.
No surprise at all. He can start playing football straight away and with his loan running until the 4th Jan, should get an extra 2 games (if Leicester get to the 3rd round of course)
At worst he will miss 1 game for us in the Cup, at best 3 (highly unlikely we follow the cardiff route)
Mocking the signing of Higgs because he is a Cheltenham reserve
Higgs is a really good signing. 273 games for Cheltenham shows how consistent/dependable he is, will feel confident in him should (god forbid) he be required.
Separate names with a comma.
