Absolutely no chance. This is like when he was linked with Newcastle. It’s just to get a better deal. It’s a bit embarrassing for Conor tbh.

More chance of Wolves signing Mesut Ozil.

I'd imagine that if Liverpool want Coady, he's gone.

Can't see them going for him though if I'm being honest.

I would swap him for Mo Salah and a 48 packet box of pickled onion flavour monster munch.:)

Liverpool don’t play a back three and Arsenal don’t know what they are playing defensively.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal play predominantly with a back four. Reeks of lazy journalism.

    Can’t take that rubbish seriously.

‘...and his work off of it’.

Atrocious. Please don’t let your spotty, teenage, YouTube generation, Americanism spouting trainee write the click bait, it puts the grownups right off.

With that rant out of my system, I’d be more worried (which isn’t that worried) about Arsenal, since they were trying and failing to play a Nuno-esque 3-4-3 yesterday.

Could see Liverpool being enough of a draw to him to actually happen, but no way in hell they’d want him.
Bless our lovely leader, but as part of a champions league centre back pair?
    No ta.

I think Liverpool have got the players to go 3-4-3 if that is what they want to do. I can see him being signed as a squad player for them.

If he want's to go that's up to him, can't blame any player wanting a move if he sees it as a progressive one. I have no idea if he's interested in a move or not but one thing's certain if Liverpool really want him he'd be mad to stop with us.

Well. I suppose. They do have the fullbacks for it.
But why on earth would they want 3 at the back?
They’re not conceding with a back four as long as it has Van Dijk in it.
They have a keeper better on the ball than most CBs when they play out.

3 at the back is a waste of a spot for them.
That’s why I’d be more ‘worried’ about Arsenal. A little like us, they ‘need’ the back 3/5 to compensate for the lack of star quality that City and Liverpool have.

    It was launched in 1900.

    It’s a conservative/generally right leaning tabloid.
Being in my mid-30s, I’m part of one of the most lefty generations in decades.

My gripe was with the bolded bit of language murder, a phrase I never fail to rail at when used by my teenage son.
    But whatever floats your boat.

Language evolves over time. It's something we all have to deal with. If you're not angry that we don't sound like we're reading passages from King Lear then you can't be too angry at this.

If we could get an insane offer for Coady, I’d sell him.

The question is what is an insane offer ? 20 mil ?

I'd take Virgil van Dijk in a straight swap, probably won't happen though.

That’s an infinitely better point than Stafford’s.

    Not a fan though. It’s just...clunky.
Almost painful to say, read, or write.
Is it unreasonable to expect better in ‘print’?
It’s associated to a newspaper, not HITC.
I’m not a full-on, posh nob grammar Nazi, I don’t drop out the ‘you and I, not me and you, horrid oik!’.
Just ‘off of’ and a few others really grind my gears.

English is a wonderful language, so many brushes and colours with which to create masterpieces.
All too often though, we’re presented with something more akin to a graffitied obscenity in a urine soaked subway.

It's a strange one because on one hand I do wish that things wouldn't change much, but on the other hand in my job I see it first hand how language evolves particularly from country to country. I have to write for Canadian, US, English and Australian audiences and have to change my writing for each one. Not only that I have one client who insists that I don't use words like 'don't'. I think it has made me ready for whatever our kids are going to do to the language in the future.

It's funny that all we tend to talk about is big money players coming in but we don't consider the fact that our players could/will be targets for top clubs in the summer? I can't see CC going tbh but Nuno has shown that he is content to shuffle players on?

Arsenal have no money, and Liverpool already have Van Dijk, Lovren, Matip and Gomez, didn't the Coady to Newcastle story come about the last time we were negotiating a new contract with him?

Not sure I believe this. They both play with a back 4 and Coady isn't good enough defensively to play in such a system.

Alright! my point was **** quality journalism was prominent in the 90's with the Express, Sun, People.. They purposely wrote in this style to appeal more to the common man. It's not some millennial thing.

Aha. I think we’re slowly edging towards some middle ground.

Ok, I was a bit heavy handed with the sweeping generalisations.
However, I do have 2 teenagers in my house, varying degrees of spotty, very much typical of the age in their consumption of ever more non-mainstream media, much of which is from America.

Not all of this is bad, my eldest is far more abreast of world issues than I ever was at his age.
However, when he routinely replaces T with D in the middle of words, and pronounces YouTube ‘youtoob’ or ‘youdoob’ a little bit of me dies inside.

Consider it an overreaction to probably the first time I’ve knowingly seen ‘off of’ effectively in print from a newspaper.
I understand there’s dumbing down for greater appeal, but that’s just awful syntax.

He is just a player and has a value, and as his role is the back point of defensive triangle if he wants to better himself and we get 20million plus then good on him.But sooner see us adding backup in defence and a striker.

If I'm being honest then if Liverpool come in for him then he's going to go running back to anfield, but the fact Liverpool play with a back 4 I'm fairly confident that theres nothing in this. The way he comes across in interviews and all the work he does for the club off the field you get a feeling that he absolutely loves this club and I'd be shocked if he was to leave us for another club unless told he's surplus to requirements so I don't see him jumping ship to Arsenal
