An article in the Sunday papers say Man Utd are ready to allow him to leave on a free. I have seen this lad 3/4 times and looks like He could develop into a good player. With the lack of wingers in the squad I would love to see Mick trying to get this lad into the squad to keep Kights and Jarvis on their toes...
    What do people think???

    Good shout.

The outcome of the season for us will largely depend on the quality of midfield replacements McCarthy brings in in the January transfer window. The way we play- if anything happens to either one of Jarvis or Kightly then we're buggered.

We should be setting our sights higher.

The reason he's been sent on loan so many times and no-one has signed him is because he isn't actually that good.

Yes, we've been really buggered without one of Jarvis or Kightly recently.

We need to move on from assuming we are so reliant on one or two players and accept that at the moment we have a very good squad that is more than capable of churning out result after result. This explains why we are currently 7 points clear despite missing key players like Iwelumo and Jarvis for a run of games.

He's ok nothing special. Was highly regarded as a kid at United but never developed into the player they'd hoped.

Seems fairly average, not exactly set alight the division when he's been on loan elsewhere in my opinion. There must be better options out there.

I always regarded Eagles as the better player. He may like Eagles just need a place to settle but he's never convinced me.

You could make that arguement about Eagles who was sent on loan all over the shop...now look at what he's doing for Burnley.

Personally i wouldnt go near Martin...i think we need to be looking for experience and CM is where i would look to strengthen...

i've always liked him - especially since he got the winning goal against c palace in the 90 cup final replay

seems to have taken an age to break into the first team though???

We have not been at flowing without 2 wingers, Jarvs has been missed and so would Kights if he got injured. Who will play against Blackpool wide right then?????
We need a winger to challenge and cover for injuries/suspensions/loss of form..

My guess will be Ward: Lm and Jarvis: Rm. Or because it is away from home MM might be tempted to go with Gray wide right.

But they want to keep Gibson...

If we want back up for wingers I'd go for Edwards again...only went on a last minute sub yesterday.
He might be worth the investment just to be here for the last 3 months of the season.

I think martin is a good player, but like a lot of Man Utd youngsters, they actually need to leave to get anywhere. It didnt do seb any harm. Also, mancienne according to some never set the world alight on loan to Q.P.R. I get the feeling a permanent move somewhere could kickstart his career. It cant do your confidence any good as a young player at such a big club knowing your very unlikely to get a chance.

None taken bud tried not to be secretive about my first team. But he's nothing special at all.

Now Rodrigo Possebon is another matter - holding player VERY good.

I'm not disputing he's been missed, he's a decent player - but the results and our league position suggest that we are a long way from being buggered by his absence.

The need for a winger as cover has been identified by MM and we would still have Carlos Edwards but for injuries at Sunderland - but the squad has coped quite well with the absence at various times of Jarvis and Iwelumo.

If we dont get at least one midfielder in the transfer window- we wont get promoted automatically.

The usual 'in my opinion' caveat applies.

  18. Anyone remember our "blow-up" season, when we had injuries and no adequate cover, especially for Kennedy ( who was still an important player in those days ).

There's quite a good chance Carlos Edwards will come back on loan I would have thought. If not perhaps we will hold off a possee of other clubs to get in Scott Sinclair on loan. Lee Martin is a reasonable Championship player imv and falls into the same category as someone like Jobi McAnuff but we need better if we are going to survive in the Premiership. Scannell of Palace has been getting some good reviews this season.

Scannells far too lightweight, he has bags of pace but his final delivery is lacking. Joe Ledley would be top of my summer shopping list if we got promoted

Ledley for £3m yes. But Cardiff supposedly turned down £6m. He is simply not worth that.

We actually had very few injuries that season, the continuity in the side and bench was amazing.

When Kennedy got injured, we signed Cooper to cover him more or less straight away.

Indeed - we actually had cover, we just didn't use it when everyone started running on empty.

We couldn't have done much worse if we'd have occasionally played the likes of Carl Robinson and Michael Branch.

Well at least we all seem to agree that we need a winger and a CM to come in in January. IMO we should just spend a few million to buy a couple of proven quality players in this division to see us (hopefully) through. There is no point risking signing unproven players when were in this position.

I was hoping Redknapp raid during the transfer window for spurs and we could get our hands on Huddlestone. You never know what Harry is capable of;)

If we want someone truly quick we should go for Martin from Aston!
