This is the youngster who played in the memorable youth cup game against Southampton and man-marked the rising star Theo Walcott out of the game. Big things were thought of him, but for whatever reason ended up at Port Vale.

Now gets his chance in the Chump with Barnsley - maybe we get a sell on fee when the loan turns into a permanent deal. No doubt we will get a closer look at him next season.

He was the in same team as Ross Draper, Elliot Bennett and Nadar Morsey at my old school. There were a couple of other lads who've turned pro from that team too, they pretty much won every inter-school competition possible!

I thought it was Mark Little who marked Walcott out of the game against Saints in the first leg.

He left Wolves after a fall out with MM if I recall. Collins felt he was worth a place in the squad and wanted to know why he wasn't getting a chance. This was at the same time Daniel Jones and Mark Little were in and around the squad. So Mick showed him the door, his way or the highway and all that. I'm sure someone might correct me but thats how I remember it. No proof sadly.

Martin Riley as well? Players like Chris Cornes & of course Mark Davies were also in or around that team weren't they?

I think Cornes blew his chances under different circumstances though.

Cornes was years before MD. He was around the time of the supposed wonderkid that was Mark Jones.

    Chris Cornes = 2004-06
    Mark Davies = 2005-09
    Mark Little = 2005-10

All three being sons of friends one of our former members who moved back to his home town in Worcester

Seems like ages ago that Cornes was at the club. I was positive he was here about the time of Mark Jones. Must have been thinking of somebody else.

Was always rated as the better player out of Elliot and Lee but Elliot sorted himself out first. Lee hung around with the wrong type of people and Port Vale was exactly what he needed, my ex and his ex were best friends and the sorts of things he used to get up to were in the Ravel Morrison mould.

I once saw him dribble past an old lady in the park, she never got near him. Another one off our fantastic youth system that MM never gave a chance to....

From what I understand MM rated him but wasn't going to have the odds shouted at him.

Yup, I think so. I never saw the younger brother play but I heard he was good. Kyle Bennett was the best of the bunch though. I never ever saw him lose the ball.

Speaking to a Port Vale season ticket holder he was without question one of their better players and he thinks he can make the step up to Championship, but that his limit. They've got 50k as a loan down payment now and as he is under 24 they are entitled to a further fee in the summer when he signs permanently.
