Can they throw in Brozovic as a BOGOF or a LOGOF?

Didn't set the world alight at West Ham last year.

If he comes in, makes me think that Cav might be on his way

Would be happy with Mario and then Stuaro from Juventus. Will steel up midfield and free up Neves to ping passes to RRRRAAAAAUUUULLLLLL

Why would a centre midfielder replace a right winger?

None of the West Ham players set the world alight, apart from Arnautovic.

Cav is an attacking midfielder on the wings. How does this signing make you think he is going? Cav isn’t being sold.

I was under the impression that Joao played in a similar role, must be mistaken.

WhoScored has him listed in the two behind the striker - where would he play, next to Neves?

His main asset is his work rate according to my West Ham mate, tho he’s a tv fan not a match attendee

Isn't Neves a deep lying midfielder? The amount of yellows and long passes he succesfully executes suggests that?

He plays as a left winger for Portugal, but swaps flanks, too, so I didn't know he played in a different position for West Ham.

Attacking mid according to West Ham supporting mate.

They played him on right but said he liked him.

Good player, not a winger in a million years though, his best position is centrally. Don't think he's quite got the discipline to play deep often but somewhere in between Neves and the forward players he'd link up things well.

Can't remember seeing him at West Ham and can't remember whether I did or did not rate him at the World Cup.
I have no idea whether this is a good signing or not. Squad depth I suppose but happy to be proved wrong.

He can play from next to Neves to wing back to in the final 3. Decent player

He’s a box-to-box midfielder. I’ve always seen him as best in a midfield three as he does like to get forward. Definitely got an engine on him, might pair up well with Neves in our midfield. Certainly would give us energy and dynamism, which you could argue we lacked last season with Saiss/Neves.

Since Leo is a withdrawn No 9, wouldn't they get in the way of each other, or would 3-3-2-2 suit us:-

Goalie - 3 at that back, Neves and the two wing backs, Leo and Joao Mario, Costa and Jota? Looks odd to me

Absolutely no chance in hell he'd play next to Neves. He's far too attacking.

I really like him, might be the only Portuguese player who's smarter than Neves. Reads the game really well, has very good technique and passing, but his intelligence is his biggest strength. Because he's black, a lot of people take a long time to notice it. They seen to notice his technique and athleticism before his intelligence for some reason (I'm gonna say racism).
I think he would play next to Neves, moving around more and doing more short passes and 1-2s, while Neves remains more static doing longer passes. But he can play all 3 midfield positions and winger, because he has the intelligence to know what to do and when to do it.
His biggest weakness is that he can't score, he misses the easiest goals (but scores bangers), so I wouldn't play him next to the striker. He also might have some confidence issues from time to time, but Nuno probably can fix that.
He was destined to be a star from a young age, had some attitude problems when he was a teenager (like 17 [correction: he was 19]), was a bit arrogant and thought of himself as a superstar. I think he's a lot more humble now.

I'm also a big fan of his brother, Wilson Eduardo, who is a poor man's Michail Antonio.

Cheers for that, good to hear from a poster who may actually know what he has to offer, already written off by some on here and other sites.
