Given that there seems to be a split decision about the merits of our activity during the January Transfer window, I thought it would be interesting to run a poll to see where the majority fall.

So in the same vein as was asked of Kenny Jackett recently...

I don't know. It has got stronger but compare this team to the one that finished last season. Not that much better over 2 windows. Not a good sign for the future.

    You need steady improvements.

2 more players this loan window a striker and and someone who ' bosses ' the midfield. Ince and Rae were good examples someone in their mold. Then I would be at least more confidant for the remainder of the season.

Pleased with the addition of Afobe and the holding onto of Sako, apart from that, not good enough at all. We have been crying for an extra one or two players.

Feel we are short on cover up front and reliant on Dicko not suffering another hamstring injury. I'm sure the club has something lined up though otherwise they wouldn't have let Sigurdarson, Cassidy, MacAlinden and most notably Clarke go on loan.

Ideally, I would like an extra Number 10 and box-to-box midfielder in the squad but generally I think the squad is shaping up quite well in terms of age profile and potential.

I think we needed a number 10 and/or a long term replacement for Sako, but on the balance of things I voted yes. If we can keep our squad fit and ready I think we have nothing to fear from any of the teams in this league. Mind you, how likely that is, I'm not sure at the moment.

Close, but probably not enough. Fragile if key players get injured. So a no from me.

I'm happy enough we needed a striker in case we lose Dicko again, Afobe has similar attributes in terms of pace, power and potentially a lot more. Keeping Sako was vital people can bang on about signing other players but who at this level can do what Sako can do the answer is hardly anyone.

It would have been nice to have another attacking option but nobody on the market who would be willing to come to Championship club can replicate what Sako can do.

    No, one player short.

If we'd got someone like Ince or Lingard in on loan then I would have been pretty happy, and obviously there's still time to get someone in on loan, so fingers crossed. After Sagbo and Graham though, I won't hold my breath.

We needed a no.10 and a striker as a minimum and I'd have liked to have seen some more competition for the wide positions.

We've fell well short of that and letting Clarke go means we now need another striker!

    Quite happy with it tbh.

Our starting XI is good and while our options on the bench could be stronger, name me a team bar Man City that isn't in the same boat?

Short of a striker and a midfielder

  18. A big summer ahead in terms of our recruitment. Bit wary if I'm honest given our dealings this season. Under Mick we recruited well and did the job but the jury is out on Thelwell and Webber. It'll take a brave man to replace these two but I'll remain open-minded.

Don't know who we are going to sign on loan, so until then it's a don't know from me.

If no more (loan) signings it's been a poor window in all honesty. No significant back-up up top, our weakest position. If we'd lost Sako it would've been a shocker.

The poll seems to sum up the majority on here aren't happy then?
I'd say if a poll was put out to Wolves fans as a whole the result would be similar.

We sent Clarke out on loan & he seems to have been replaced by Afobe & Doyle but we still have Saville & arguably Jacobs places still to fill.

  26. Difficult to compare as it's all relative. They have higher crowds hence more money and don't have PL flops like Johnson and O'Hara to pay off. I doubt they also have a players who earn £30K + like Sako and Doyle. We have a team that is very capable of finishing sixth and winning the play off lottery.

A poll that matched our expectations would have us hovering around sixth place which is where we are at. It would take much more than a January transfer window to turn us into a top two team. I await the Summer with baited breath.

we are short of experience as a squad to seriously push for promotion.

  29. There have many discussions on here regarding the clubs finances but I would interpret the situation as Derby having far more spending power than us. I don't think we could spend serious cash without Morgan putting money in.

Seems to me that Derby made a statement of intent. We, despite funds being allegedly available, bottled it. How do you account for Bournemouth's 4 million bid for Brum player. I believe they attract smaller crowds than we do.

    Where there's a will there's a way.

Have you forgotten the parachute payments for four years - they dwarf everything Derby receives. And I wouldn't mind a bet their payroll is much more than ours today.

I’m a don’t know because like many I think we’re short of cover/replacement for Edwards. If we get a decent loanee in within a couple of weeks I think we’ll have done ok. If we dither like we did in the autumn I will be very disappointed.

60 to 9 tells you that most on here think we did not add enough during the transfer window

We still need a number 10 - an upgrade
We still need a midfield general - an upgrade

I would be happy if we get just one of those 2, though yes we could do with both. Either would help fill that gap between midfield and our totally isolated strikers.
