Maybe they'd have some intel suggesting issues and wanted to cover any eventualities?

    Major overkill!!

I presume they are the hooligan group but even so!

And to think we didn't have one copper against Watford! (I know Boro are worse but still)

Red Faction are a lot younger, I believe. Also if it was, I think there would be RF attire in the pictures.

They used an act approved by law, how is that abuse of power?

Had they have remained in the town centre maybe there were concerns of public order issues so a decision was made to at least try and reduce the risk?

Had they stayed in town and problems rose dare say people would be moaning about the lack of action as well?

Or just police the situation as opposed to passing the buck.

If they were Boro fans who got the section 34 notice and put back on trains to the North East, will they get refunds on match tickets? If they didn't have any then its a different kettle of fish.

Maybe abuse of power was the wrong terminology, but I really don't see how or why the police should dictate to them like that. They think they can do as they please and its not right.

    just thinking:

who decides who is a football fan and who isn't? and where and when?

what if someone was from middlesbrough and were in derby for the day on business: would they be stopped from wandering around if it were found out they were from 'boro even if not going to game?

at what point do police powers stop when it comes to who is seen as a fan and who isn't?

Normally, they will ask the question.

Watching football is not a crime.

It might have been to do with the events of the other week against Watford, but I have never in my time going to Wolves seen so many police in the Steve Bull upper tier last night. Groups of 3 or 4 at every at every gate!

Without knowing all the facts 1312 it's all just speculation anyway but had they remained in the town and a few shop windows got put in, just for the sake of debate, the property owners would most likely be screaming from the roof tops as to why the Police let them stay?

A catch 22 or damned whatever?

Fans are Fans, irrespective of who you support, we are not ALL Hooligans.

But! if you are associated with a RISK group then accept that its a RISK you take when attending games home and away, these days its all about results apparantly?

Lets hope That Millwall have a "Bubble" enforced for those ITK

    Strange.

That's the only logical explanation. They got locked in a pub, police told the landlord to stop serving them. Then issued them with sections, so weren't allowed to the game.

FSF are looking into it, so might hear something eventually.

Nothing like as bad as when the police took a group of us from New Den all the way around (the old way prior to the current walkway) to the station. There were police then bumper to bumper vans and then mounted police outside them. We were taking the $$$$ out of the police for being over the top and they suggested we wait before having a go at them. It was 2 plus hours before they let us out of the ground and it was ridiculous. The millwall fans were nutters being beaten off by the police. A helicopter checked out a bridge where another lot were waiting so mounted went after them. When the train came about 5 of us were left on the station with 6 local police. Millwall fans went mad and charged up the walkway. Coppers were brave and stood there ground but two were badly hurt before the mounted police got back around. They just waded in.

If they had not given us that protection...........5th April 2002

I think the subway lot were in Millwall that day so Millwall felt the need.

    Anyone else there?

My question wasn't that police weren't needed and as I said FIT might have intelligence about something.

It is the numbers and vehicles used for about 30 people, yes I know 30 nutters can cause a lot of damage.

Yet more evidence of the police state we live in and as football fans were one of those groups 'on the front line'.

Anyone remember the small army waiting to prevent us from leaving the station at London Bridge earlier in the year, they were even dressed in all black with riot helmets & shields?

Seems like section 34 is a new 'power' given the corrupt as an upgrade to section 27.

Remember it well! we were heading back the the All Bar One, and were a little bit miffed to find we couldn't get out! That was until a load of lads charged at the riot cops down the other end of the line and created an excellent little distraction for us to sneak through!
