The best youth player since Lescott?

I think he is very, very special and it won't be long before the big boys come knocking.

It will be at least a season, and naturally at some point there will be a dip as with all young players. Let's enjoy his progress and raw talent, but agree if this continues a huge future

I would so far too early to make a statement like that, but who has come out our academy since!?

That just made me laugh out loud.

Thought Iorfa was tremendous today. I wonder if he is wasted at RB, kind of wonder if he might not end up in midfield one day.

Centre Half for me, but doing great learning at full back. Could see him in a bs k three as well.

He is that good, you could imagine him playing almost anywhere. Stupendous talent.

I find it hard to imagine how we can hold onto him to be honest.

Early days but yes he looks the part and could be a top player. We need to keep building up the quality in the team so as he grows in stature the players around him get better and better. Its his pace and no little skill that you particularly notice and he offers a new dimension to the team in this respect. I would have him on a five year contract minimum.

Bull$$$$! Why are some fans so bloody negative. We are a top 20 club and are on the up. He can achieve everything he needs to in the next few years with us.

No we'll get another season out of him
If not we get mega money and I mean £10m plus, if not why sell ?
Personally don't think anyone will spend silly money on him yet as early days, so let's hope he can be part of our immediate future.

Always difficult when a young player comes into the team, because on the one hand you want them to be absolutely brilliant, but at the same time you have to realise that they're still young and developing. For me Iorfa has been superb since he came into the team, it looks like he's been in the team for years. But it's still too early to call just how good he will be, as others have said it's all about how he deals with the ups and downs that will define his future.

£10m is peanuts. Why on earth would we want to sell? When it gets to the point where we can talk in terms of £20m ok it might have to be considered. But let him get U.21 caps, lots of league games under his belt with us over the next three years minimum. Then let's see where we are as a club. Hopefully in the Premiership with lots of revenue to pay top wages to our best players. For once we need to think big as a club and so do the fans who constantly say oh "he is too good for us" etc. Apart from Man City, Chelsea and Man U who are willing to pay crazy money I can't see anyone tempting us with enough money to sell our very best players. That is assuming Morgan is serious about making us a force again in the football world.

It's a lot of money, but to be clear
    A) I don't think anyone will pay that yet
    B) I don't think we should take it, as he could be an exciting part of our future
    C) we'll get a couple Of seasons at least, but guys it's very early days

However, I also think we might have to get used to a new way of working as a club. We are academy based in our strategy and I think this is the right way forward. But it does mean that as well as using the academy to populate the first team, we also have to get used to selling assets. That helps to fund the whole strategy and is part of the future. However, for now we enjoy finally seeing youth being given it's wings within our squad, we enjoy seeing them help us play a new brand of football and we enjoy seeing the hunger, desire and future unfold. Good days this and so fitting that this is all taking place at the sir jack Hayward training complex. Fitting tribute to our past and future.

I agree. And before we all get too carried away with throwing around figures like £10m or £20m for a lad who has yet to play even 10 games at this level, let's all keep in mind once upon a time, not too long ago, Wolves had a young academy player supposedly valued in the £100m range. A player who is on the verge of leaving the club on a free soon.

Numbers like those obviously mean naught until someone makes such an offer. Until then, let's let the lad settle in (something he's done pretty well so far), learn his trade at this level, enjoy his development in front of our eyes, and not create undue pressure and/or expectations.

It'll be no longer than 2 pages more before he's called the next YaYa Toure ... :turtle:

He signed for a year plus year's option so hopefully they are sorting it out long-term deal. His agent probably playing hard-ball due to lad's talent.

Has all the tools to be very good player indeed (except possibly and bizarrely his ability in the air for a man of his size).

The most promising start a young right-back has made since Jamie Smith.

I can tell Hause is a CB playing LB because while he is good defensively, he has big limitations going forward but this simply isn't the case with Iorfa who looks quality both going forward and in a defensive sense. Certainly think he will be a very good RB in the long term.

Chris Smalling went to Manure for £10m after only 10 games for Fulham and Phil Jones went for £16.5m after only 35 games for Blackburn.
I'm not saying that we'll lose Iorfa but potentially, he's better than both those useless guffs.

Has been so good since he came into the side but let's not get carried away.

People didn't say dissimilar things about Doherty after he had played a few games.

The problem with Iorfa presently imo is that he needs to grow into his body! He needs to fill out a bit as he's a stick kid, all arms and legs! He looks very awkward and ungainly but has surprising pace and agility. Early signs are promising but with JL he looked class from day 1 - cool, reliable and mature way beyond his years. Far too early to make any comparison between Iorfa and JL.

Don't think he needs to fill out at all, he's playing as a fullback not a centre back. Since when did fullbacks need to be bulky and strong? He isn't weak anyway to be honest.

  36. Think it's interesting that he saunters past challenges, then as if he can hear Kenny telling him not to be too ambitious, checks back

He's getting further and further up the pitch. I think KJ should let him (with cover naturally)

Now this may seem a bit of hyperbole about Iorfa, I haven't been on here for a long time. Iorfa is exactly the kind of player Arsene Wenger has been signing for years - young, powerful, athletic, and more than a little bit of talent. He's only played a handful of games but he's got the raw ability to go a very long way. He doesn't look like a centre half playing full back, he looks like a beast who the opposition can't cope with. We may be struggling to hold on to him in the next few months
