Surely that's close to the edge of contravening consumer or trade laws?

That's what I thought. Not really news, Utd have done this for years.

I imagine it's in the t&c's so they're stuck. And there's probably a massive queue of people behind them to snap up their season tickets if they give them up. United have their 'customers' over a barrel.

It stinks. It's stories like this that make me totally lose faith in football especially at the top level - it doesn't matter how many billions of TV money the clubs get and how many tens of millions they receive in shirt sponsorship, advertising and merchandising, they always want another pound of fan-flesh.

As the article infers, United fans are being punished for their team's inability to beat a league two side in the cup. How about the millionaires that couldn't whip Cambridge pay for the tickets?

It's in their T's & C's so I don't think it is contravening anything, disgusting practice though

If I was their CEO I would charge everyone who had no Manchester / North-west links £150 for a match ticket and if they didnt go to the cambridge match they would be banned for life.

Soon weed out the glory-hunting leeches (irrespective of whether they go every game) and allow the thousands of locals who would like to go.

I would then charge local fans £10 per game.

I know I don't live in the real world BTW.

Moxey could do the reverse - if you dont go the next league game, you are banned from the next Cup game. That wouldnt have much effect would it :)-

This is standard policy for Man United season card holders. Attendance at these games is compulsory for them. Remember Olympiakos at home after their away defeat?

Done it for years, pretty sure they even include the League Cup.

A disgusting club that symbolises pretty much everything wrong with football and a fair bit of what's wrong with our society.

I don't like wishing any club really to 'go under' as it's not fair on their fans but they are one club I would love to see disappear.

Pretty sure terms and conditions can be deemed by a court to be unreasonable. If anyone could be bothered to challenge it.

blimey reans, how would you deal with me with regards to wolves. the nearest connection I have to wolverhampton is going out with a girl from wolvo some 47 years ago and delivering veg with my mates dad to the old indoor market from lincolnshire. 58 years supporting the club and going to matches in the late 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and season ticket holder throughout the 2000s until recently, do I incur a surcharge for not living near or talking loike yu lot?

sounds like a positive move by jez who would get thank you messages from supporters who would otherwise go to the game hoping we might actually compete successfully in a cup competition.

Yeah this has always happened, league cup, fa cup, champions league. My mates a ST holder & they just bill him whatever the cost is.

I think they have a big ticket swap site thing somewhere they use, might be on Red Cafe but I doubt many were complaining when it's against Madrid & Munich etc.

Cos only locals are allowed to support a football team? A significant number of people on here aren't from Wolverhampton so are they not allowed to support Wolves any more?

I'm just surprised that ManU have not insisted that season ticket holders also have to buy a new shirt as well

its the power of the top 6 in the league we aspire to, makes you think doesn't it, would it corrupt our jez to be able to wield such power?

Man utd v Liverpool (under 21's) Monday night drew a crowd of 5000 to Leigh sports village. Those fans are probably the ones who can't get tickets for the senior squads games.

Why do some out of townWolves fans who go still, wish to feel I was comparing them or referring to them when I am slating out of town glory hunting manure fans. I shouldn't have to explain myself and shame are those who even think there is some sort of comparison .

I know people who started following Wolves when/because they were the Man U of their day or who picked them up via their fathers who supported them in the 50's.

Doesn't make them any less of a supporter than someone who started following us more recently when we've been slightly less successful.

Only if they stopped as soon as the glory stopped. Most of the out of town manure fans jumped on the glory bandwagon . Don't think wolves fans can vaguely be compared.

As I made it clear that's what I would do tho I don't live in the real world heehee

Simply there is no room for sentiment its purely business, would be a nice gesture for the line up who played against Cambridge ( no disrespect intended to them), to pay for those who went there and had to see that performance

When I worked for Sankey Vending in the 70's and 80's, we had a depot right at the back of the Stretford end and I used to go up to stocktake. The lads, all manc fans , took me to the Trafford pub and whilst having a drink a big blond haired lad walked by in a Wolves top and jungle hat, dead proud !

I have never, ever supported any team but wolves and if the club had gone out of business in the 80s I wouldn't support anybody. U got lucky by being born near the wolves.

    read this:

But in a bid to ensure regular United supporters have the best chance of getting tickets, the club has announced the following schedule.
Season ticket holders, existing half season ticket holders, Cambridge Fans United members and Away Travel Club members can purchase their tickets from Monday at 9am to Wednesday at 7pm.
