Can't say I blame KJ for backing Kuszczak and by and large he has stepped in and done a decent job but I won't deny some of his play worries me.

Me too Essex, Friday night against Derby he seemed insistent on refusing to catch the ball. Obviously struggling with communication between his centre halves as well. Good shot stopper and decent back up but Ikeme straight back in for me.

    Yup.

Appreciate during his time covering for Ikeme he's kept some clean sheets but in some of the games that seems more luck than judgement Smithy.

Not going to knock him too much though as he has been part and parcel of a team who have been on a decent run of late but on more than one occasion Friday his keeping had my heart in my mouth.

Interesting interview by E&S with Phil Parkes on YouTube ,in which he states that TK tends to always punch clear, whereas KI will come off his line and catch, which is the much safer option.

Haven't seen that EW but I'd say he spot on.

I have no problems with keepers punching the ball but only as long as they make good contact and put some decent distance on the ball.

Some of TK's punch's don't have enough behind them for my liking and end up putting the Wolves defence under more pressure should the ball end up with the opposition gifting them another chance.

Unless they are playing against us and punch it into their own net!

    Oh it's great then MM:D

From the position I was Friday night I had a very good view of the incident and whilst he might normally be a very good GK that was just rank bad. Not even under any real pressure.

Imagine rushing him back though then him dropping a clanger. It's a hard decision to have. I really wouldn't know what to do.

Loosing Ikeme has made me realise how great a keeper he is.

Can't wait for him to be back in the team.

Reading between the lines of that interview, I'd say Ikeme is a certainty to play against Forest. Typical cagey phraseology from Kenny!

If so, I'm glad. I think the PIG's handling is dreadful. How the $$$$ can he have got this far in his goal-keeping career and still be punching stuff that any other goalie would catch? The punch is a useful technique, especially in crowded penalty areas, but not to the extent he uses it.

I wouldn't trust TK to hold a sparkler.

This in Edgmond-sized spades, if Ikeme is fit then he has to play!

See EW is "missing" for our visit to the Trent, hopefully see you pre-kick-off for a drink.

I've worn him out :D Yep, I'm wondering whether my boy deserves a Hooters experience, I'll show him the website and then the car sponges, wax and leather cream.

He's at that age Rhhos as you know, where he wants to play football, watch football, $$$$ girls while balancing his beer on their arses. I can only manage two of those these days

I'm not really too bothered about the punching, he should bloody catch them a lot of the time but at least they're gotten rid of. It's where he remains on his line when his defenders and every Wolves fan watching are screaming for him to come and get it and diffuse the situation. Positionally for some goals he's been rotten IMO too. A good deputy but Ikeme is the better goalie.

    Ikeme straight in for me.

    Kuszczak looks incredibly dodgy.

  23. It's definitely his lack of controlling his area that is my biggest worry. A couple of times on Friday, he didn't come out to claim a through ball when the defender was expecting him to and we were lucky to get away with it...

But that's the problem PLL. TK will punch at times but doesn't get rid of the ball anywhere near far enough.

When Wolves played European teams in the mid to late 50s, quite a few of the goalies punched instead of caught the ball. It was unheard of for the Wolves goalies of that time -- Bert Williams and Malcolm Finlayson -- to punch when they could catch and it confirmed the stereotype of the time that "continental goalies punch and are therefore crap".

I think most keepers punch too much now, when a lot of the time they could be catching the ball.

I don't have an issue with punching the ball at all as long as the damn thing is punched a long way. Against Derby I recall TK punching, or should I say flapping, at one ball which fell literally just outside the area and back into Derby's possession. Fortunately nothing come of it but that sort of keeping worries me and doesn't help the defence at all.

    Agreed.

Saw both in the last game to be honest. One moved all over the place (I happened to be right behind it) and he did well to even punch it, he would certainly have struggled to catch it. Another one straight down his throat that he couldn't punch anywhere safe at it was chest high, should have been a easy catch.

Kuszczak has done OK for me, but if Ikeme is fit I don't think many of us would even pause to think who to pick.
