At the bottom the the article on the official site about Iwelumo maybe not making it in time for Saturday's visit of Barnsley, there's more positive news about Ikeme:

Carl Ikeme is also set to be available tomorrow having recovered from the hip injury sustained at Sheffield United two-and-a-half weeks ago.

So, based on his form going into the Sheff Utd game, and Hennessey's form since, who do you select? I think Mick will choose Hennessey but I'd go for Ikeme myself.

I'll let Mick decide on that one. Happy with either myself!

Nice to have a manager of our team with a choice of quality goalkeepers to field.

  4. Ikeme as he knows how to control his penalty area.

That said, it'd be unfair to drop Hennessey. He hasn't done anything wrong since he came back in and it seems to be the way Mick has ran it this season, if you're out suspended, injured, whatever, then you need to prove yourself capable of getting back in the team or you need to wait your turn.

I can't see why it'd be any different here, so for me, Mick will pick Wayne.

  5. I'd be happy with either between the sticks, but I've gone for Henessey because he should keep his place while playing well.

    Exactly 50/50 at the moment

I said Hennessy to continue. Done nothing wrong. If he starts playing badly, put Ikeme in.

P.S. Where's the option for Higgs lolzorz

Hennessey scares me. For the first five minutes against derby they were pinging balls into the six yard box which he should have claimed but instead he chose to stand on his line. Did anyone not see that?Ikeme every time

I feel Mick's made a rod for his own back, stating that Ikeme in the first place wouldn't be dropped until he did something wrong or got injured, so can't really drop WH until similar circumstances occur (again). I'd perhaps prefer Ikeme between the sticks but think it'd be unfair to drop Hennessey.

ikeme has looked the better gk and should come back into the team.

  10. I think Hennesey is improving, be fair he needs a chance to prove him self. Then again is it unfair on Ikeme that he had claimed the shirt then unluckily had it taken due to injury, so really, i dont know

After seeing Hennessy dithering about with crosses against QPR, I would have to go for Ikeme. I think that at the moment, Hennessy puts the defence under unnecessary pressure, despite the fact that he is a great shot stopper (as also demonstrated at QPR).

  12. I have to agree with the point about Hennessey not controlling the area. I was nervous every time QPR put a high ball into the area. Wayne is a great keeper, and it's a fantastic problem to have (even more so when our undisputed best keeper at the club is on the long term injury list again and these two are supposed back up options!!) but I'd play Ikeme.

Ikeme for me..commands his area in the way which Murray does, thus breeding confidence in the defence

Teams have sussed out that Hennesey doesnt control his area and rarely comes off his line to claim in fear of flapping at it... one of the reasons Blues looked dangerous in the first half the other week was because they tried to capitalise on this as much as possible.

hennessey makes me too nervous when he comes to claim the ball. doesn't seem to judge whether to come or not very well.

ikeme seems to not flap so much. he's better in the air.

Erm seven wins in a row and a clean sheet up until the injury to Ikeme at Sheff. United (Hennessey let the Blades goal in) then a draw and a defeat with Hennessey in goal. Like the Americans say "go figure"

Yes I know Hennessey kept a clean sheet on Tuesday night.

Is this poll now a weekly feature ??

Ikeme is the answer obviously - even the Sky commentators were calling Hennessey fragile - hes not a bad keeper but scares the $$$$ out of a significant amount of fans it appears and doesn't command his 6 year box let alone the area.

I don't know, will Ikeme be returning from an injury lay-off every week?

    Hennessey without question

  19. sorry , but i agree 100% with hollo.
i was cringing at times thinking that he was just going to stay on his line.
wayne is a brilliant keeper, but he seems very nervous this season.

  20. Ikeme , because he is the better keeper on current form.

Hennessey played well on Tuesday night and kept a clean sheet, I don't see why he deserves dropping.

It's a tough one, we should be thankful it's this tough to make a choice.
Ikeme seems to be the one on top of his form but if Hennessey gets dropped now having been given his chance ----??
I'll let Mick deal with this one.

I don't think that Hennessey has done anything wrong to lose the shirt and after MM comments why Ikeme was retaining it I don't see how he can drop Hennessey without looking Hypocritical. It's unfortunate for Ikeme but he just has to bide his time and take the next chance he is given. PS: ikeme would be my choice, but having Hennessey wouldn't worry me unduly.

Hennessey is the one in possession of the shirt, so unless he goes on a major run of poor performance he is supposed to keep it, amirite?

Ikeme has been far better than I imagined, but Hennessey wouldn't be in his current crisis of confidence if he hadn't got so badly shafted in the first place. The only way for a kid like Wayne to get over bad form is to play his way through it, based on the evidence of the last few weeks.

I'll leave it to Mick. The only real solution to this is to sell one of them, buy an absolute donkey in his place therefore removing the dilemma of who to pick.

I was behind the goal at QPR and Wayne was as quiet as a church mouse with laryngitis. Ikeme has impressed this season and is more commanding of his 6 yard box and those in front of him. As long as he is fit and isn't rushed back, I go with him.

Ikeme for me too. Command his box better his distribution is quicker from the back from him too. He didn't do anything to warrant being left out before his injury, Hennessey has played a lot of football over the last 2 years and it might be beneficial to give him a period of time away from the pressure.

    Hennessey will play though!
